  • Hello! Glad to hear the project should soon be progressing! I haven't worked with automated translation in a while, so I'm not sure how good an automated solution would be nowadays, but a native-speaker editor at the least is probably necessary (and perhaps optimal if the jargon is particularly unusual). A story for an example: my father is a swimming coach and was teaching some Arabic speakers, so he tried to translate the training session (full of swimming jargon) into Arabic. Everything went surprisingly well, besides the translation of "distance per stroke." The tool didn't know that "stroke" in swimming means the same thing as "stride" in running, and the translation read "distance per heart attack."

  • Google employee John Mueller was asked this recently in a hangout and he said that it had been a while since the last one so hopefully we get one soon.  But, no one outside of a select few at Google knows when it will happen.  It's been almost 8 months now. Matt Cutts said at a conference that 6 months was a reasonable time to wait between Penguin refreshes but that it could be significantly more.

  • If you have been hit with one of the most recent updates, there may be no sign in your Webmaster Tools account like there would be if you had been handed a manual penalty for spam. Has anything stabilised for the site over the weekend? Check your Webmaster Tools account for any mention of a penalty, just in case more is explained in there. However, many sites' rankings changed significantly over the past week due to Panda and Google's "payday loans" changes.

  • There is no magic number of frequency of links that will secure you good, long-term high rankings. Richard is right, you shouldn't consider link building as a painting-by-numbers game where you decide on a number of links from one type of source and fill these numbers into a chart as the links are built. Check out the link building category on the Moz blog. It contains years worth of high-quality content about creative, sustainable link development ideas. Please keep in mind that "social bookmarking" is a very outdated technique. Depending on what you actually plan on doing, a lot of these links may be nofollowed as well, making their usefulness for SEO purposes negligible.

  • As Dinesh suggested, the Adwords Keyword Planner is a great tool.  You can also use Google Suggest and related searches at the bottom (Ubersuggest or Scrapebox for more results,) then there's Soovle which pulls from many sources, and Google Trends also has related terms.

  • Hey Adam, It's always the little things that get ya! You entered a root domain and the site you queried ranks for the www subdomain. I added the correct query to your rank tracker so you can check it out. Anytime you want to check rankings in Rank Tracker, make sure you double-check the subdomain they utilize to avoid any undue confusion. Cheers! Joel.

  • A DIY approach that uses a custom tool is http://www.rmoov.com/index.php, which many people have used with success. Regular Moz contribute Sha Menz writes about this tool (she works for the company that makes Rmoov) here, and also shows what Remove'em (another tool) does. I agree with Oleg in that thread that there is often little difference in they way different services handle link removal, besides price and initial approach, but I'd go further to say that a standard, tested follow-up protocol (how long until you you send follow-ups? What language is used?) is also important if you are going with an agency. Many if not most SEO agencies will provide this service, but may not be particularly economical depending on the agencies' business models. Many hope to provide on-going services to clients, or at least services that extend beyond one link removal campaign.

  • The only way to make the redirects happen, is to renable SSL.  Because you can't do that with adobe catalyst, you have no option but to put a proxy in front of the requests to catalyst. The easiest solution you will find is a CloudFlare Pro account: https://www.cloudflare.com/plans You can set that up with your own custom SSL.  Your client will continue to use Catalyst exactly as they do today, and get all the other benefits of cloud flare. CloudFlare of course isn't your only option for a proxy, but your not going to beat it when it comes to both Price ($20 / month), and Ease of Use.

  • Hi Jen, Keri is quite correct that we don't currently have expansion plans for Moz Local, but I hope we'll be able to support Canada one day. In the meantime, definitely check out Whitespark.ca. They are a completely awesome Candian-based citation building company and offer great packages. Really good guys! Another alternative is BrightLocal, which is UK-based and internationally-supporting. Also high quality. Hope these alternatives help. Hope this helps!

  • You might want to look through the other responses to this question, as this tactic isn't the best one for sustainable rankings. Also, if you are a photographer, are your customers coming from the sites of other photographers? You may want to target your efforts towards places that your customers are reading.

  • The independent agency used a second site to build its rank - it was just a website with a bunch of big picture links to their website and a ton of textual links below. The website since then has been redeveloped and we implemented all of the 301 redirects, etc. to ensure no page rank would be lost, so there isn't any bad links from their website. The links in OpenSiteExplorer also seem to be legit. Still haven't figured out why they are ranking so poorly tho, it was put aside for now. All of the help has been greatly appreciated.
