  • Hi Francois! All reports start running on the first of the month, but may not be complete until the 4th of the month. Plus, I see that you're in South Africa, so you may also simply be checking before the reports have finished on our end. If you don't see the report in the next 24 hours, send us an email at help[at]moz.com with the details of the campaign, and we'll dig into it! I hope this helps a bit. Thanks! Jen

  • Hi, Afraid I don't have experience direct with this one but there is a similar question here- http://moz.com/community/q/duplicate-video-content-question and you can probably drop PhilNottingham a kind note and I'm sure he could help. Good luck, and remember if you find an answer let us know so people searching can find it in the future!

  • Personally I wouldn’t put barriers in the way of a download, however I'm sure you will get a lot of debate about that one and at the end of the day it's what you consider to be of more value, the fact that the pdf is being downloaded or you have the information from the people who then know your going to contact them after a download. Either way I would use a combo of QR code / printed shortlink and include analytic tracking data. Then if you do chose to collect email data first you can measure the conversion from who went to the data entry page from your exhibition any how many email addresses you collected ie: In htaccess: #Product 1 QR code (have your QR code point to http://www.domain.com/qr-p1) Redirect 302 /qr-p1 http://www.domain.com/shop/product_one/doc.pdf?utm_campaign=Exhibition&utm_medium=QR Code&utm_source=Banner Stand&utm_content=ProductOnePDF #Product 1 Short code (print your short code as to www.domain.com/widgets) Redirect 302 /widgets http://www.domain.com/shop/product_one/doc.pdf?utm_campaign=Exhibition&utm_medium=Short Code&utm_source=Banner Stand&utm_content=ProductOnePDF

  • I am sure you won't get into any issues by keeping them both separate - but it doesn’t make any sense in doing that. You should definitely 301 redirect the old one .. page by page to the new site. It doesn’t make sense to keep them both and you will lose since Google might start to rank one page from the com.au and for another query one from net.au. They should for sure consolidate everything into one single side. Keeping them separately there migt also be some branding issues - as users might get confused. "oh, last time I was on the other Screento - let's look for those guys again" So, you won't get into issues from Google with Duplicate content or anything else but you might shoot yourself in the foot by not 301 redirecting the old pages to the new ones since you will compete with each other and it just doesn’t make sense to keep them both. So to make the long story short: Consolidate with 301 and you will be in good shape. Don't do it and you will be safe but you will lose on branding and rankings. Hope it helps.

  • Hello! This can be a bit confusing especially if you have several accounts set up under your profile. First you'll want to track the profile, once that's set up, you'll add the specific page that you want to track. For example, in the image I've attached, I first set up my Google+ profile which is an admin on the Moz Google+ page. Then I went in and added the Moz Google+ page, after my profile was created. Hopefully the attached image and explanation will help! Please me me know if you have additional questions. plY7nWQ

  • Hi there, Any reputable affiliate should be adding nofollow to outbound links, and I would be concerned if they weren't. Even if PR isn't passed on 302s, what's stopping the affiliate from making them 301s or simply direct links in future? Blocking GoogleBot using robots.txt on landing pages isn't going to stop Google indexing URLs it finds - you would have to use canonicals or noindex on the page for that. Even that wouldn't negate the impact of inbound links from potentially "toxic" websites. I would say that you can't have your cake and eat it. If you're getting traffic and sales from these affiliate links then they're good for business. However there's a good chance if the sites are poorly regarded by Google, and they aren't using nofollow on the links that you will be penalised in organic listings. I have used affiliates in the past, and learnt to keep them on a tight leash. If you're concerned about your link profile I can recommend using cognitiveseo.com to analyse it. Regards George

  • The result set for this query is very interesting, lots of diversity in query intent: you have have definitions, brands who specialize in pos systems, reviews of pos systems, and brands who have pos systems, but whose primary focus is not the pos system itself. While the Shopkeep page you linked to does not have the most links or highest authority of the pages in the first page of results, it is the strongest domain from in the 'brands who specialize in pos systems' category noted above. My hypothesis is that Google believes the primary user intent for the query is to purchase a pos system, therefore, is giving favor to the most credible brand whose business appears to focus primarily on pos systems. If you look broader than just the page in OSE, you'll see that 'shopkeep pos' is the second-most used anchor text for inbound links to the whole site, representing a total of 29,145 links from 91 different domains. This would support the above hypothesis that Google finds the brand to be highly credible for pos systems because it is so often used alongside the brand name. Hope that sparks some ideas for further research! -Trung

  • I think you mean Wistia.com? "Going viral" usually happens naturally. People want to share your video because it is that good/funny/shocking. What is your video of? How does it relate to your business or website? What is your end goal?

  • Hi there, thanks for your question! Yes, you can track any Facebook page that you manage. Under Campaign Settings, when you connect the Facebook account associated with the page you want to manage, all the pages you manage wish said show under Facebook Accounts on the same page. (You may need to click on the pencil icon next to Facebook Accounts, though.) Click on "Track This Profile" next to the name of the page you wish to track.

  • Shaqd I have done this, although I am not familiar with the canonical method you mentioned. Social share counts are tied directly to a URL so if the structure of a URL changes at all the old count will be attributed with the shares. You can create a custom social share button that pulls the data from the old pre  url structure change. Mike King has an awesome post about how to do that here (which is what I believe you are referring to with the og: url propterty?): http://searchenginewatch.com/article/2172926/How-to-Maintain-Social-Shares-After-a-Site-Migration  You can read a thread where he and I discussed it here: http://moz.com/community/q/preserving-social-shares-through-url-changes His method works.
