Moz Local: How to Update Yahoo?
Hi There, Thanks for writing us and I hope this message finds you well! Unfortunately, Yahoo is not one of our current partners so in order to claim and update a Yahoo listing you will need to go through some of their existing channels. I have attached an article on how to claim a listing for reference: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN15966.html. Our partners are: Infogroup Acxiom Nuestar/Localeze Factual Foursquare Superpages Best of the Web So anyone not on this list you will want to manage manually. Hopefully this helps and if you have any questions for me let me know. I wish you a magical day!

Facebook listing not found
Hello James, Maybe you can help. My clients company name is slightly different on their Facebook page than on their Moz local. I would change this but we have more than 200 like to the page and Facebook wont allow me to change it now. Is there anything we can do to correct this? Thanks, Ron

Hi there! I see that you opened a Help Hub ticket, which is definitely the best way to get assistance with Moz Local. Well done. I also see that Miriam is helping you with this issue, and has responded to you multiple times both in Q&A and via the Help Hub. She is super smart and top of things, and can definitely help you resolve any issues you have with Moz Local. In light of that, please continue conversing with her via the Help Hub ticket she responded to. Thanks for your patience! Christy

New Company with Google+ but not in directories. Does Moz add those even though they show no listing status?
Great question! We will send your listing to these partners and they will begin to populate there automatically: Infogroup Acxiom Nuestar/Localeze Factual Foursquare Superpages Best of the Web

Moz Local free with subscription?
Hi Michael! That is actually not correct. Moz Local and Moz Pro are completely separate products, and having access to one doesn't provide access to the other. It's possible that you're think of the Check Listing tool, which is a part of Moz Local that can be used for free. It'll let you know the status of your listings, but it won't update them for you. I'd recommend watching this video on how Moz Local works. Does that clear things up?

I can't add a new listing to Moz Local
Thank you. I heard from Moz support a while ago that it isn't just me; they have multiple accounts with this issue. Now that I know that, I'll just wait for a fix. Thanks!

Updated validation changes
Thanks Abe. I'll set a reminder to check it again next Friday and see how it looks then. Appreciate your response! Mike

Moz Local and Telephone Number Change
Richard we do not allow 800 numbers that our partners do not accept. If we allowed the 800 numbers we would the pass the details along to our partners and get rejected. Unfortunately at this time there is no override for this requirement as if we did bypass it your data would still be stuck in limbo.

Submitted listings for Removal via MOZ local 7 months - still showing 'Request Submitted'
Hi Rosemont, Thanks for taking the time to ask about this. I want to share with you all that I can about this topic. I completely understand that there might be some confusion surrounding this, and we've recently updated our Help Hub to reflect our current best advice regarding duplicates. Basically, what happens is that Moz suggests the duplicate closure request to given platforms and they then process these in very big batches, based on each platform's own internal structure of handling such requests, whether they come from Moz or from a data aggregator or what have you. The issue, then, is that we have no way to estimate time frames or to guarantee that a request on our part won't be denied by a given platform based on its own assessment of whether a duplicate is really a duplicate or not. They have the deciding vote on this. So, at this point, what we're suggesting to customers is that they consider manually closing small numbers of duplicates as they may get faster results than Moz will. For large accounts with hundreds of customers with hundreds of duplicates, it can be helpful to automate duplicate closure requests with the thought that they will eventually close, but it's unlikely to happen quickly, bringing us back to the suggestion that manual closure for small numbers of duplicates may be a smarter route where speed is key. We'd love this to be faster and more reliable to automate, but we're working within the limitations of the various platforms. For your particular situation, as we've already assumed management of the duplicates in order to request closure of them, you would not be able to act manually. I'm not sure if it would be possible to reverse our management of the duplicates, but if you would like to get further feedback on this, you could create a help request with our Help Team who then might be able to escalate the question to our engineers to see if reversal would be possible. https://moz.com/help/contact I want to apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced and disappointment with time frames. The duplicates feature is really helpful for surfacing duplicates, but for now, manual closure may be faster than automated closure.

Moz local is telling me that I don't have a Google+ listing when I actually do. What is the problem?
Yeah, Moz Local is showing that we have a Facebook page. The problem is Google+ though. It shows that we don't have a listing on Google+ and it's obviously affecting my client's location accuracy scores. We present this data to our clients. So not having an accurate report is kind of a problem. Why isn't there a way to manually link the Google+ page to our Moz Local listing? Moz Local needs to provide a way to match up the data without the address. Especially since Google wants service based businesses to "hide" their address.

Does purchasing a Moz Local listing allow you to report old incorrect addresses?
Hi Tom! Thanks for reaching out, and sorry for the confusion! The best section for this would be to head over to the 'Duplicates' tab from your main Moz Local Dashboard. From there, you'll be able to us the 'Add alternates' function to list any other names, addresses or phone numbers that we should pull in for you

Moz local is telling me that i am missing a listing from HotFrog yet i have a listing there. How do i get moz to see it or add it manually?
Howdy! Thanks for reaching out, and sorry for the trouble! Unfortunately, we're not partnered with Hotfrog, so we aren't able to force them to share this information with us. We've checked Hotfrog's API, but if they're not showing that listing information to us, then there's no way for us to display the information within your Moz Local listing. So, the best thing I could recommend would be to contact Hotfrog directly, and ask them to make sure that the listing is fully visible to Moz

Moz Local Listing Score
Hi Laura, Thanks for writing us, and we would be happy to take a look. if possible can you email this question to help@moz.com. We know that providing listing information on a public forum is not the greatest experience so by emailing help@moz.com a helpster should be able to review the account to make sure that everything is in tip top shape. One thing that I will say is that listing information generally takes about four weeks to update but it can take up to eight. Hopefully once we take a peek we will be able to get everything sorted and your account back to its wonderful status.

Can I add all three branch locations of a small credit union to one Moz local listing, and if not, is it worth it to pay for three different local listings with MOZ?
Hi Mollie. Regarding Moz Local, the $84 charge is per location per year. If you've already created paid accounts with the sites where the branches are currently mentioned your cost will only be in hours by doing it yourself. Regarding some of your location settings, there was a recent discussion here: http://moz.com/community/q/client-says-no-local-phone-number-all-locations-no-directing-to-centralized-call-center about the policy (Google's) around using a call center number versus branch specific numbers. Listings in general need to be as specific possible in order for people to interact with locations. When you're talking abut mobile users, not having listings that are individualized would likely result in poor map listings and poor walk-in-mobile traffic. You'll likely want to do a cost-benefit analysis of whether or not having your branches listed individually and ranking well would bring in more than $252 / year. Cheers!

Wondering if there is an ETA on bringing Moz Local to Canada?

My client just updated his Google physical address. It shows up as unverified now. How long until Google verifies?
It'll be either verified by postcard or phone call. The post card option takes 1 to 2 weeks, while the phone call is same day. See: https://support.google.com/business/answer/2911778 There Google lays out the entire verification process. Cheers!

Linking Google Business Page to Moz Local?
Hi Kristie. Here's the part you'll need from the help doc: Moz Local takes the time and hassle out of managing your listings across multiple sites and directories. When you submit a listing on Moz Local, it must match an existing Google Places or Facebook listing across all of the following attributes: Business Name, Address, Phone Number, and Website. Because you've already gone through the phone or postcard verification process with Google and/or Facebook, your Moz Local listings will be validated if they exactly match Google or Facebook. Some of our partners—such as Infogroup and Best of the Web—may call or email to confirm your listing information is accurate, but no postcard or PIN entry is required. It sounds like the account was created using Facebook as a match and you'll need to make sure that the Google Business listing you have matches that one exactly in the attributes listed above.

Moz Local doesn't have Categories for my clients business
Hi Katherine, Thanks so much for writing in about this. Moz Local draws our categories directly from Google, so you are right to notice a correlation. Unfortunately, you are right that Google's categories are not all-inclusive, but whether you sign up for Moz Local or not, participation in Google's local product is a must for pretty much every local business. Because of this, rule of thumb here is to find the closest match you can for your broadest category and then use the business description to explain the nuances of the business. So, per Ryan's example, you could choose Shipping Company or Shipping Services for the main category for one of your businesses, and in the business description, describe the packing and crating services you provide. Not perfect - I know - but there is know known way to influence Google's categories. It's totally up to them. You're not alone in your frustration with this. Mike Blumenthal, himself, can be quoted as stating,"Google’s category system is woefully inadequate at its job of indicating what a business actually does." And, the Google forum is full of tickets like this one: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!searchin/business/no$20category/business/ymdjxTXmDxI/g5OTvVGwqcoJ For many common business models, the category system works just fine, but when there are facets of the business that the category system doesn't cover, going with the closest possible match is the only option. And, of course, be sure that your citations descriptions and website are highly descriptive of your services.
