Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • Perfect. I heard something back from ahrefs that was very similar. Thanks, again! Summary (as it relates to ahrefs, at least): If a website is crawled by a backlink research tool, any applicable backlink to facebook.com/Company123 should show up.

  • Miss Thumann, My rule of thumb is to deem all content not to be yours, read up on your subject from more than one site and then write your own informed content. I work for a large Industrial Products and Services Company and often carry out spot checks on content which doesn't rank highly on Google. I then send emails to anyone stealing our technical content and ask them politely to take the content down as we own the intellectual property rights to the articles. If nothing happens I send an email to our Intellectual property rights company who then proceed to get the domain withdrawn until the changes have been made. In the eyes of Google new content is good content and it's clever algorithms can soon tell a clone page. Google doesn't care if it's public or not it cares if it's duplicate. I hope this helps in some way.

  • Think of domain authority like you would the stock or bond market. They fluctuate over time. Sometimes an individual stock or bond's value will go up or down as a result of that specific stock's assessed risk / benefit. Sometimes the whole market will shift based on factors that have broader influence. Stock and bond valuations fluctuate real time. Website valuations (as measured / quantified by Moz) fluctuate roughly monthly. You've observed what equates to a "market shift" likely resulting from the size and characterization of the websites in Moz's sample. Stock and bond valuations fluctuate real time. Website valuations (as measured / quantified by Moz) are derived from a large and lengthy process that involves going out and collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data from millions of websites, billions of URLs, and trillions of links. The numbers that spit out at the end vary based on a whole bunch of factors, not least of which is the size and nature of the targets of evaluation. You've observed what roughly equates to a "market shift". It's likely not a coincidence and due to the sampling process.

  • You should check out the webinar about when we changed from SEOmoz.org to Moz.com. Our SEO-at-the-time Ruth went through her process and addressed a lot of things like DA drop due to losing some link authority, etc.

  • Oh yeah, right! That's funny, I wonder how that happened. I had a quick peak in Yoast and the various post types and pages were set to no-index. You're a star, thanks a million. Let's see what happens...

  • This is a great discussion and I appreciate the dialogue and awesome answers here. I'm performing a backlink profile and developing a 301 redirect strategy for a website that has a forthcoming relaunch. I've found success using multiple platforms, including the magnificent MOZ. And I agree with Erica, not every platform, including Google, crawls the entire web. I use multiple platforms. For example, in Google Search Console the website I'm working on shows 10,000+ backlinks. Most of them are the main domain (e.g. website.com). But, a backlink profile ran in ahrefs.com shows around 5,000+ backlinks. What I've discovered in ahrefs is that the website has thousands of backlinks linking to other pages on the website (website.com/page-one, website.com/page-two, etc). This is really helping with my 301 redirect strategy and will help retain link equity when the new website launches. So, yes! Use multiple platforms to discover your website's backlinking profile and choose your battles from there. I recommend: MOZ, of course ahrefs.com SEMrush.com Majestic.com Google Search Console Happy backlinking to you all and good luck Jared!

  • im not sure if you are still searching but I have spent the last 3 years experimenting with various options. I initially started with the usual suspects but then found RankWatch. This was great but there were some instances that were not 100% correct - bear in mind that I monitor 800 keywords daily. i then switched to ranktrackr which is really great. HOWEVER, there were some instances when the software was out of snyc and I woke up a few times to a screen showing hundreds of drops which, in fact had not happened. More recently I came across this which so far seems to work well http://serptoday.com/

  • It really depends on the website, the content, and the types of ads. Most large content sites I've worked with we're in the range of $0.10 to $0.25 cpm in AdSense.

  • By placing a single square ad on each page, either CPM, rented out, or click based, I would like to gain revenue for these terms. EGOL and others on this Q&A make money like this. I was trying to get some good advice from people like EGOL (I'm sure there are many of you) with experience with informational keywords as to if these would make money or not.

  • Actually they are a global company, but for their country specific domains they are currently just showing the same content as the .com My thinking was whether google.CH would prefer a .CH domain over a .com domain even if the content is the same? If so local domains that are country specific would work (let's assume all domains have 0 back links)

  • I have to agree with Russ. I think the old KW Difficulty model was making that keyword look stronger than it is, and the new one, while maybe a bit low, is more accurate. I'd also suggest, as Pete did, that using any keyword in isolation is unwise. Compare scores for similar terms you might target in the same sector, against the same sorts of competitors, and use that relative data -- KW Difficulty, and indeed PA, DA, and keyword volume, are all far more useful as comparative metrics than absolute ones.

  • That's good news on both fronts. Just remember with the disavow file, to add to the file that is there. It's too easy to overwrite a file and reverse work you have already done. -Andy

  • Hi Kevin! I just want to confirm that DA is a link metric—it's almost entirely based on your backlink profile. The best way to bring it up is to build high-quality links.
