Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • Hi Oleg, Brilliant thank you for responding to this. This information really helps - appreciate you taking the time to answer back! Kind regards, Jay

  • Many thanks, we currently try to employ synonym's and themes without using the actual keyword but for rich snippets etc on google rank it's hard to avoid atleast three keywords at least 6 times on each relative page. Thanks for your insights! http://locksmitheugeneor.com/

  • 100% Is virtually impossible, afaik, MOZ accounts for all of the domain's keywords and their CTR. To have 100% visibility, you'd have to rank on the 1st-3rd position for each keyword that you rank for, which is impossible. Even if you optimize your website just for 1 keyword and manage to get it to the 1st position, you'll still grab some keyword on the way and you'll have your own 'long tail', keywords, for which you rank beyond 20th position. Here's how keyword position distribution looks like for most websites: http://i.imgur.com/gozM9KE.png  Note that most of the keywords are in the tail. And here's how the visibility changes if you account for all of the keywords: http://i.imgur.com/pTW6GPN.png

  • Thanks Greg & Marie, The site in question was acquired a few months' ago a fairly old site on a WP engine and had a couple of tech issues at the start but they were fixed and seemingly all was back to normal. I have since gone on and disavowed some poor backlinks and also fixed some 'Missing Author Missing Updated' issues that were popping up on GSC No crawl errors and no Manual Actions showing up, hoping it is just a temporary blip.

  • Ruchy, The best way to practice what you have learned is to create your own website and SEO it. Be careful of some free website's/hosts like the free address from Weebly; i don't believe they get indexed. Matt

  • I agree with Sean! This seems to be a case of Moz updating their information with new data. Your HTTP site was being redirected to HTTPS so on that new run they picked up everything around your new domain.

  • Hi Cedric, You're right to be concerned about duplicate content. I recommend that you take a few more steps to be completely sure that your site has a chance of performing well and being indexed and not penalized. You should write a unique title, the titles are much too similar You should write a unique introduction before quoting the article and additional unique content after the quote 300 words is too much for a quote from another article -- consider doing 150-200 Consider using just 1 image instead of 4 Because you are only partially copying the article and linking to the original source there is very little chance that you will be penalized. However, your copied article will not be considered valuable because it doesn't have any original content. Just a few tweaks and a little original content should help and give you a chance to be indexed/ranked. Best of luck with your site and keep up the great articles.

  • Hey Kit - This is a question I am seeing coming up a lot recently! I think you'd be well guided to either get in and do a deep analysis on your own site or hire someone to do one to get to the bottom of this. There have been a decent few people sharing some screenshots of Search Console (Barry rounded them up here) where some saw drops, others saw steady, and still others saw increases. The results you see from AMP seem to heavily depend on the correct technical implementation (and Search Console shows you errors) as well as the type of SERP feature you are in (regular organic, carousel at the front or buried deep, etc). Hope that's helpful. John

  • We like to use Agency Analytics for keyword ranking tracking. It's updated daily, allows us to add any keywords we want to track, then we can track the keywords over a period of time. It shows the ranking changes since the first time the keyword is input into the program. So after 12 months we can see how a keyword has progressed. Another great tool is Pitchbox, we do lots of outreach and this program automates much of it. It allows for us to find many new sites, email addresses, and track the sites we contact. Highly recommended. Chris Adficient.com

  • Thank you so much for this answer Tyler. I have a bunch of tumblr blogs and one has a spam score of 9.  It looks like the reason for the spam score is that it reblogs one post from a very legit blog with a spam score of 8. That blog is written by the type of guy who headlines social media conferences, so I certainly wouldn't want to disavow him.

  • Hi Sharon! First, I wanted to say that I love the website—the graphics are awesome. I would start by ensuring that any issues on the site are addressed, even if they aren't high priority issues. You want to make sure everything is as tight as possible to ensure you are giving your website the best chance possible to rank. Since your website is new, the domain age is going to be very young which will definitely impact your domain authority. In order to combat this, spend time building backlinks to your website (like Bernadette mentioned). Links to your site from other web sites are treated like votes or referrals. But it's not all about the quantity of backlinks, but the quality. Don't stress that you don't have many yet—but focus on building quality backlinks to your site. Here are some of the more common link acquisition strategies: Placing your links on websites that the SEO company owns Asking other websites to link to you on your behalf Listing your website in free online directories – many include a free link with signup Adding comments to blogs and including a link in the comment Participating in social media groups (like LinkedIn) and including links in posts or within comments These are just some of the ways that SEO companies acquire links—in reality, the list goes on and on. The important point is that inbound links and backlinks refer to the same thing—they are links from someone else’s website back to yours. (Note: The relatively uncommon strategy for acquiring links, but the ONLY strategy wholeheartedly recommended by Blue Corona, is to create remarkable onsite content and promote it to relevant and authoritative sites—although, often times they find it on their own!) Continue creating value content, whether it be blogs, press releases, infographics, videos, etc. that people will want to link to! Hope this helps get you started.

  • Hi guys and girls, With regards to this, ss there any problem for SEO that you can see with banning spam refers through Htaccess? So in these instances when a spam bots comes to the site, we throw a "Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server.", so basically a 403 error? We're considering this as a more permanent solution to using filters in GA. What do you think? Thanks, Gill.

  • Hi Jeffrey, These questions are always so interesting but to give an accurate answer we'd need more info like what the keyword is, if it's at all relevant to what you do etc. In short, it's been many moons since Google just ranked you for words and phrases that could be found on your website. They do still help, but it's absolutely possible to rank for something without mentioning it, provided the topic is similar. For example, if you run a car hire company and only ever use the word "hire" across your site, you will definitely still rank for "car rental" as well. For several years now Google has been improving the way they "understand" the content on your site. As these improvements continue, just how far removed those related terms can be also increases. If a human can make the logical connection between two topics, chances are so can Google and so you can rank for these connected things. I actually wrote quite a lengthy response that covered this same topic a few weeks back which might be worth a read too. Basically, the shoe company Hype DC here in Australia almost never uses the word "shoe" or "shoes" yet their rankings for those terms are excellent. Hope that helps!
