Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • Many Thanks Rand (and Geoff). The thoughts and opinions of other SEO community members (and CEO's!) who have "walked the walk" is priceless advice in my opinion. Kris

  • My current bet is linking domains, if we're only limited to those 2. Sitewide links seem to be harmful as of late, proving that total links is less valuable.

  • I also think it's a strategic way for Google to push G+ when there's been a significant drop off of engagement. People sign up but don't use it often/regularly (I mean, most people) so this is a good way to give rationale and expand beyond the original "Facebook killer" assumption.

  • As you can see here, this is an issue as Google are indexing many variations of the same page although this means that somewhere is linking to them unless your site is set up so that even a crawler passing through links to your contact page is creating the query parameter in the URL's. To resolve this, you need to add the following to your robots.txt file:- Disallow: ?referurl= This will prevent any URL's passing that query parameter from getting crawled and indexed ensuring that only the originals of the pages will appear in search engines and not flag as duplicate content. Hopefully, someone from SEOmoz can add as to whether there is an option for obeying robots.txt directives within their crawler so that these URL's are not listed as I'm not sure.

  • Howdy, That's a really good observation and good feedback. OSE and the MozBar default to Root Domain metrics, so it makes working with subdomains a little less convenient. One of the reasons that subdomains are grouped with domains is because in most cases, that's the way folks work with and research their sites. For example, if you were researching www.seomoz.org, this is closely tied to the root domain seomoz.org. Yes, it's a little frustrating when working with wordpress blogs, and other subdomains where the root metrics really have nothing to do with the website in question. The good news is you can always view subdomain metrics. There's even a toggle switch on the MozBar that allows you to switch between root domain and subdomain metrics. In the case of blogs hosted on Wordpress, you really need to ignore the root domain metrics - so it can be inconvenient for OSE to display these prominently, but the subdomain metrics are available in the "compare link metrics" tab. But one area I really have to agree with you: We have Page Authority and Domain Authority, so it would be awesome if we had a Subdomain Authority. Regardless, thanks for the feedback.

  • One idea off the top of my head is to look for mentions of your brand or URL where there are not links, and ask them to link. I'd also read through the link building posts from SEOmoz at http://www.seomoz.org/blog/category/4 and get some ideas from there.

  • Firstly have a think about whether you really want to cancel your subscription, you will lose everything (all stats and reports). And the wealth of knowledge that seomoz offers. but if you still wish to cancel your trial is 30 days and not one month. The following is from seomoz help section How do I cancel my Subscription or Free Trial? You can cancel your free trial any time within your first 30 days and you won't be charged. So, if you sign up on December 1st, you can cancel any time before December 30th and won't get charged. If you're already a paying customer, you can also cancel anytime! You'll remain PRO through your paid period and the account won't be renewed at the end of that paying period. You can cancel your account by logging into the site and then going to the Billing & Subscription page. So to play it safe I would cancel on the 1st. Hope this helps

  • IMO, if you had 100+ links into deeper pages the only time that i feel it would be appropriate is if you have 100+ main categories. If I were google and noticed that there were 100+ link on the homepage pointing to obvious pages which would be in a main category I would think that was a bit inappropriate. So yes I would go for <100 always unless I had 100+ categories. i.e. ebay, amazon, craiglists, gumtree would get away with this.

  • The last OSE index update was on May 1, but those links are from a crawl period of roughly Jan thru mid-March IIRC, so there is a lag. The link has probably moved to a different page or expired or is gone for another reason. The next index update is scheduled for next week and should represent much newer data.

  • One of the most valuable things for me is the 'seo toolbar', I use this ALL THE TIME for checking blogs to guest post on - I use myblogguest and usually receive between 5-10 offers, when 2 offers are very similar I use the tool bar to make my decision. When I do this for guest blogging I see very good results, sometimes a blog may look visually better but could have a DA/PA 18-23 against a blog that looks rubbish but has DA/PA 50-60, I would have never known this without the tool bar. I also use it to work out roughly how much more work is involved to jump rankings by comparing my stats against ones above me in the results.

  • Depending on what time you do/don't have you could create a spreadsheet in Google Apps or Excel linked to the SEOmoz API and run it that way. Other alternatives are rank tracking tools/plugins for your browser (the 'Rank Tracker' for Firefox works well, for example). A tool we use, however is the free Rank Tracker from Link Assistant. You just have to make sure you log into your Google account through the settings so you don't get inundated with CAPTCHAs. Hope this helps.
