Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • Hi Guys, Sorry for late reply was away yesterday. There's a little more to the problem really. I did a complete site redesign and increased the number of internal links per page. So gone from say 20 to 80, so I'm guessing after what you've just said Pete that the internal links are diluting the page rank. I know what you mean tfbpa about not paying too much to non-google numbers, Steve Webb's was saying a similar thing the other day in his awesome SEO audit post (pure gold for someone like me). The problem is I am also getting the same info in Google Webmaster Tools. In Google webmaster tools I get 27,000 impressions the day the site goes live and one week later I get 6,500 impressions, stabilising around the 3,500-4,000 mark. I've asked about this before but been advised that it will take time to settle, but 3 months later and it does very much seem to have settled, but at a substantially lower amount. That said overall my organic SEO is at the same level as this time last year but I've dropped on some keywords to 25% of last year. So I think what is happening is that I have diluted my page rank for internal pages causing a drop in SEO for those keywords, but I've improved the structure of the new site and caused an increase in page ranking for home page targetted keywords. So I was looking to see how I could maximise the transfer of page rank info (Google, SeoMoz or any other metric) by doing anything and everything before moving on to a new SEO strategy for building that rank back up or increasing it over and above what it was. Can you think of anything else I can do, apart from decreasing the internal links? Thanks for the great responses to btw, I really appreciate the support. Adam

  • Have you tried open site explorer? Although the results aren't directly from Google it's domain rank and page rank give an extremely good indications. Also maybe worth considering the MozBar as this gives you these stats as you are browsing. Open Site Explorer http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/ MozBar http://www.seomoz.org/seo-toolbar  Hope that helps

  • Thanks Guys, Turns out it was an indexing issue on the website. Magento was being slow to rebuild the index after seo friendly urls changed - this made it appear as though the canonical link on the page was pointing to the wrong place. We've re-run the tool after manually rebuilding the index and all is good.

  • Michel is right - Google doesn't care that they're one template - if both URLs are being crawled, then they'll see that as two "pages". Every unique, crawlable URL can become an indexed page. That's why duplicate content problems are so common. The good news is that you can put a canonical tag on just the one template/file and it will cover all of the paths/URLs that land on that file. The tag goes in your section and looks like: I'd check the internal links, though, and see if you're linking to both versions. It's best to use one, consistent URL in your internal links for any given page.

  • Hi Tom, It looks like Google is serving a default or script produced version of your Meta Description in result pages which is this: Music Degree and Performing Art Degree from Authentic University. Several Dozen Majors to choose from Bachelor, Master and PHD levels. However, the meta description for _http://www.registereddegree.com/music-degree_ is indeed "Registered Degree" as the On-Page tool reported. Below is the Meta data pulled from the raw HTML on the page you mentioned: name="description" content="Registered Degree" /> name="keywords" content="music degree" /> Looks like you're using Wordpress as a CMS (could be mistaken) but there is likely a setting on the page itself to enter a unique Meta Description, and depending on what SEO plugins / configuration you're using, there should also be a "Default Meta Description" setting. It's possible the you have two plugins that are conflicting, and causing duplicate Meta Descriptions to be be served. Hope this helps! Anthony

  • without being too bold, I believe the only way SEO can work going forward is to have the client, or as i call them, the passionate expert, participate in the process.  The key to the programs we're developing rely on the client.  We are just consultants who help people build online relationships. Basically we've been saying for over 10 years that writing quality content that engages your core audience is a sure fire method of gaining and maintaining rank, unfortunately over the years other methods that are easier have produced results for a lot of people, but now we have Penquin and our original marketing concepts have never been more valid.

  • The most common reasons for this are discussed at https://seomoz.zendesk.com/entries/409821-why-isn-t-my-site-being-crawled-you-re-not-crawling-all-my-pages. If those don't solve your problem, email help@seomoz.org and we'll be able to sort it out at the help desk. Thanks!

  • I am doing the http:// and including the full URL. Should I add the link code? I didn't realize that was an HTML editor. ** Yes, you need to add the html code: full: text . That will work for sure.

  • I use Excel formulas, the SEOtools plugin for excel and the SEOmoz API.  There's  a guide on setting it up along with example template some where. Works great for checking multiple domains. Others might have a better suggestion.

  • As far as the categories is the widget that's faulty. I used a couple of other widgets and they supplied the correct URL when a cat. was clicked but as I'm cleaning up "too many links on page" I would still need a dropdown widget for this purpose but don't see one out their yet or I simply haven't located it. Too many categories to apply to the top nav bar. UPDATE: It came down to applying noindex features in All In One SEO for Wordpress for categories, tags and tax archives. This will eliminate multiple URLs for the same content.
