  • Hey Joseph - Good question here. It's pretty impossible to say what percentage better a subfolder (/blog/) is than a subdomain (blog.mycompany.com), but there have been many case studies done over the years that it is better for SEO overall. At my old company, we moved from a subdomain to a subfolder and sorted out some technology (went to WordPress from TypePad), usability, and internal linking issues. Over the course of about 3 months we saw a great (200%+) increase in traffic. BUT, we also had a lot of content that should have been ranking, were cranking up the quality and quantity of content we put on there, and actively improving our site's overall SEO. These results not typical, your mileage may vary, etc. I think in your case, I would say that you need to weigh the pros and cons of the effort required to make this work technically with the focus on creating amazing content that gets shared and linked to. I think often we focus too much on smaller technical things like subfolder v subdomain, while neglecting the real reason we are blogging/creating content (to build an audience). I don't necessarily think this is a make it or break it thing for you, but if you have the chance to put it on a subfolder and it's not too challenging technically (I'm not familiar with the ins-and-outs of this with HubSpot), I'd recommend a subfolder like mycompany.com/blog/ Good luck!

  • The frustrating part of this is that we're doing things the same across the board.  Everything else flourishes, except this.  Other keywords for this page are sex addiction help, sex addiction treatment, porn addiction, internet porn addiction, sex addiction symptoms. I agree that the competition is tough.  I think the algorithm changes since May of last year have been our demise.  We used to be on page one!

  • Hi Mike, Thanks for your answer. I did do all the above. Last week my brand name moved to the first page in 8th position. So that's good news. I'll keep working to get first. Cheers Oliver

  • Ranking an inside page higher could be a sign of a page-specific or term-specific action. This may tie-in to anchor text over-optimization, since a lot of those links may be pointed at the home-page. I find social comparison of link profiles, so to speak, is rarely useful. We all overestimate the mischief or our competitors and underestimate our own. At the end of the day, though, your link profile is the only one you can control. That said, obviously, adult site link-building is very competitive, very difficult, and often spammy, and the reality of any given industry doesn't always match "best" practices. Unfortunately, I don't have much experience with how to build links in your industry. You've got the advantage of some novelty and a growing interest in VR, but I'm not sure which sources talk about those developments. In many ways, it seems more like a PR challenge.

  • Hi, Of course you can. The SERPs that you shared only considered the product itself. Therefore, the result came up with products only. Although, if you consider an early query stage, you have a great opportunity. You might consider answering queries, like : "dentist recommended best electric toothbrush", "electric toothbrush battery life". Almost all the people do two or three queries before going to the product itself. If you are at the early stage, you might capture that buyer. It is important to be there at the three stages.   • Hi Isaac, Those are different queries. And yes it does matter to Google the exact match keyword phrase. That said, it raises the question: How much leverage does google give it? Well, it depends and varies from site to site. In the case that you are optimizing on-page, keep in mind to not over optimize for that phrase and add some variants (such as you've said, or adding some extra words to the phrase). In the case that you are analyzing a link profile or willing to "do" backlinks, try to keep the exact match not over the 10%. Of course there is no magic number, its just to be safe.   • I would use data to back up any changes you would want to make. If you know organic traffic is starting to take a nose dive due to changes the team is currently making then pull some year-over-year before and after snapshots and show them the areas that are declining. Explain the importance of properly optimizing the pages you are working on and try to find some sort of middle ground.

  • You can optimize and create your landing page content however you see fit. If you want to optimize the content for more than one keyword, go ahead! The most important thing to remember is not to overstuff your content with keywords—but utilizing multiple keywords can definitely help this. Before focusing on very specific keywords that you think are the most important for the industry, make sure that these are the keywords that people are actually searching. You should be writing content that attracts and helps users. You need to write for what they want to hear, not necessarily what you want to share.

  • Hi Hector, Google adwords were bever been much reilable to give precise results for search volume however comapre to Google Adwords Moz Keyword Explorer has more accurate results for volume. You can also use SEMrush.

  • If these benefits are unique and require further information to explain each individually then it would be worthwhile, you wouldn't be diluting if the information on each page was unique. You could have a little bit of information covering each benefit on the main page and then have a "read more" option which sends them to a new page with more information. If you're just repeating yourself across different pages and there isn't helpful information then you will get no benefit from building out pages.

  • Yes agree with Alick300, As far as I know, Google doesn't take any notice of case in search terms.  Maybe the odd situation i.e. readability as far as the end user is concerned on content quality.  Google does take notice of bad grammar and punctuation. Just a note of caution, be careful with acronyms.  You may find that the acronym is also used by different industry something entirely different.  Make sure it is very clear what you are talking about in your page content, ideally explain the acronym.
