Keywords
Sometime keyword research tools show that there are not to many people are looking for certain keywords, but it doesn't mean that this keywords are bad. It is probably recommended to optimize for the keyword "Babe Ruth Posters" however it is not bad idea to optimize for two other keywords phrases too, they have main keywords in it too. As well I noticed that sometime some of my clients coming up with keywords which are "not known" by keyword tools but even though they are being used. Optimization of each page according the content is good idea. If it is "winning" poster then it is winning poster. Especially if you have separate section or product with word "winning" in it it will be recognized. Of course all optimization and decisions are up to you.

Effective keyword grouping - any suggestions?
Your product category pages should only focus on 1 or 2 keywords. If you come out with a lot of keywords on one page, it may look like you are keyword stuffing. The only way to tell which are going to be your best keywords is by hooking up Google Analytics and setting up conversion goals. This will tell you he value of the keyword. If you are using Google adwords, it'll tell you if a particular keyword is making or losing you money. I always break things down into categories. Mens shirt, Womens shirt, Baby Shirt, Dog shirt. You won't run into so much duplication like you would with the two categories you are talking about (baby & shirt). Use the Control F in Excel to find and replace duplicate keywords.

Does keyword arrangement matter?
I run into this all the time with my site's keywords. If you go to Google and type in the various order of the keywords you will indeed get different results pages. If you go into Google Adwords Keyword Tool you will most likely see the exact same search numbers. What does this mean? Google obviously recognizes that these are in essence the same keyword and report back search behavior appropriately. This of course takes us back the SERPs which will be different (although often very similar - and the 1 ranking will often be the same) which is clearly more explicit in displaying rankings. One side note, I have noticed that plural and singular terms are often very different in search volume and SERPs - for example Blue Wide Widget vs Blue Wide Widgets. Here is a case were the intent would be the same (I would guess) but the user behavior must be so different that Google treats them completely separately. My recommendation: You should be building a breadth of anchor text anyway so link using them all with a predisposition to point using the term that Google suggest defaults to. Hope the helps!

Keyword Dulication in Tags
This is not a duplicate issue. In english it would be like adding -ing to something. Walk and walking. Two different words, and in fact, it's good to use both in my opinion, as that shows Google more relevance to that root term. Besides, even if they were considered duplicate, putting the same word twice in a title tag is the least of Google's problems to deal with. They could care less. Duplicate issues are when your entire page or lots of your page's content is identical to another page. I wouldn't worry about the situation you describe here.

Google Keyword Estimator
My honest advice? Use the traffic esti, ator only as a guideline. Google KW tool is FUBAR in many instances - for example, one search term it promises 10,000 searches a month, which I rank 1 for, only gets a portion of that if I look at the impressions i webmaster tools (another stupid tool) and only a fraction of the traffic you would expect, nowhere near if the data was correct.

How to get started with Keyword research
use those relevant keywords that have the highest traffic, as your main target keyword. you also should need to target those less popular keywords to have more traffic.

How do you do Keyword Research for a company that creates a lot of content
The fact is, quality editorial is going to be doing a lot of the hardwork for you, particularly in the long tail. (Content is king, yada yada.) What you need to be worried about is making sure that content is accessible both to the three major search engines and, as is becoming ever more important, easily shareable. If the content is in the form of articles or blogs, ensure that the template itself (probably generated by a CMS?) is optimised and free of any duplicate content or canonical issues. Are the major on-page things - title, h1, image file names / alt text - in place and optimised on a per-article basis? Is it easily shareable? FB, Twitter, major bookmarking services, RSS etc. Are these well positioned and performing well from a landing page optimisation point of view?

Do building sites on expired domains help?
I bought the expired domain of a competitor a year or so ago and redirected it to one of our main domains and it's done us fairly well. Unfortunately they left quite a few unhappy customers so there has been a bit of PR firefighting to do, but overall it's positive. If I were going to do it again I would have done a lot more research, I was just sloppy. MaryAnneG is absolutely right, you need to do a lot of research before you buy one, there are plenty of people out there artifically making their domains look much better than they are.

The same keyword has the same search volume for 6 ways to type it. How should I behave?
Seems to be a significant difference between 5 x 1000 and the rest. So if you want to rank with that term you should definitefely set up an extra page for that and treat that indivually. 5 x 1000 can mean everything ... The lasting 5 terms are similar and we know that the search engines use synonymes, too - therefore we should definetifely use them. Althouth I made the experience that it is really difficult to rank with all synonyms. The best would be to set up a page for each term - what probably will be very difficult.
