  • Maybe I should .24/7. So, other than sassy one liners, what do you do? I'd love to hear some constructive input. However, If you don't have anything constructive to add, that's okay. I'm sure you're really busy. Super busy.

  • where I get confused is if you add our brand to the search,  it looks like google know the right page. if you search "Clicassure assurance auto" our landing page is comming first.  however if you only search "assurance auto" it's the home page that's getting out. so it looks like google know that our product page is the right one but it refuses to display it !!

  • You're right Paul - I was talking about the title. The description is your call to action.

  • Hi Lauren It's inevitable that you will use keywords that target other pages. When you do, link back to the page from the blog. So for example, if you use the term 'Interior Lighting' which inevitably you will, then link through that anchor text back to the page on your site that targets that phrase. You would be pretty hamstrung if you created blog posts without being able to reference different parts of your site! Just try and keep the links down to 1 in 100-150 words, that's all. If the page you are linking to is not in the main menu, ie 1 or 2 clicks down you will strengthen the internal linking structure of your site and the anchor text will help. If it is in the main menu, the anchor text will have no benefit as Google only looks at the first link. Hope that helps Regards Nigel

  • Hi xdunningx The focus keyword is an arbitrary concept made up by Yoast - it forces you to think about what the piece should be ranked for in terms of a single target keyword or phrase. It should be one - three words ideally. As long as the target keyword you want to rank for is on the page, preferably in the H1 and used as the feature image ALT text you are good to go. Yoast is great but it does have this irritating feature where it fails to recognise the focus keyword on the page. Regards Nigel

  • If the content is similar enough in terms of the intent of the keywords you are targeting, I would agree with Andrew in saying consolidate them into one page. A few things to keep in mind: 1. If you end up consolidating them into one page, be sure you are passing any link equity from the page you remove to the new updated page. 2. If the pages are both for different things and just have the same keyword in the H1, think about retargeting each page to be associated with the keyword that best matches the content. 3. If the content is similar enough for consolidating, longer content does tend to be favored in the SERPs (depending on the topic) so this may be another benefit of combining the two as well.

  • Yes! We've had this ability since day one Just click "create or upload a new list" and you can create a list of hundreds or even thousands of keywords for analysis and comparison all at once.

  • I would suggest using apostrophes where/if grammatically correct. It depends on the individual sentence whether you would use an apostrophe. Lawyers = plural of lawyer Lawyer's = singular of lawyer, to show possession Lawyers' = plural of lawyer, to show possession

  • Hi, I have been working with several writers in the past from peopleperhour with excellent resuts.  They however did not do the keyword research and were only used to write the copy according to our instructions.  There are several people offering this service though so you could give them a try.

  • Unless it's a service you can no longer provide, monetize or refer, there is never a scenario that you would prefer your website not be listed #1 on Google during any certain time frame.

  • Thanks. I am not sure I'll get an answer though. I have posted this questions in several forums and sadly, I did not get any insights back for the moment. I sincerely hope I'll have an answer on MOZ.

  • Hi Mjesse, I think you can't go wrong removing anything that doesn't seem to make sense on a page. Obviously, I'm not looking at your actual website, but if you are feeling that some content on a page isn't user-centric, then yes, I'd remove it and replace it with something superior for that user group.

  • Yes, each page on your website should have a focus keyword...just like when you are communicating about a topic in real life. Would you bounce around between basketball, baseball and football when you are in the middle of a conversation about the NBA all star game? Probably not. When building content for specific keywords per page, I enjoy utilizing SEO quake for google chrome. Its keyword diagnosis and density tool, in my opinion, is far superior to Yoast. It helps identify on page standards and well as word count and density of single keywords and phrase keywords. Plus, its free.

  • Apologies I missed your response for some reason - I normally get an email. You are right in that there is a fine line between each of the games and that sits at the heart of the problem. 1. If it was me I would have a sub-category below Kindergarten games and write 300 words about the benefits of Vowel Games in the description backed up by Meta, title, compelling call to action description and a highly relevant H1. Then write specific content talking about just the benefits of each type of game on the game pages 1-4 Site>Kindergarten Games>Vowel Games>Vowel game 1 etc And sit all four games on that. 2. If you can't do that then you could have one page for all four games as I suggested (like the Zappos model) So: Site>Kindergarten Games>Vowel Games     (Vowel Games being the product name) Then have the four types of vowel game as attributes as a drop down or separate link on the page. Site>Kindergarten Games>Vowel Game  (attribute 1 = letter sound)                                                                   (attribute 2 = identifying the vowels)                                                                   (attribute 3 = matching upper and lowercase vowel                                                                   (attribute 4 = letter and image match) Then all of the descriptive text could sit on this on page and the drop downs could be by via ajax (which wouldn't change the URL), or after the URL # or ? e.g  http://www.site.com/kindergarten-games/vowel-game#attribute1=letter sound        http://www.site.com/kindergarten-games/vowel-game#attribute2=identifying the vowels etc If you do it this way you risk splitting the juice four ways: Site>Kindergarten Games>Vowel Game1  (attribute= letter sound) Site>Kindergarten Games>Vowel Game 2 (attribute= identifying the vowels) Site>Kindergarten Games>Vowel Game 3  (attribute= matching upper and lowercase vowels) Site>Kindergarten Games>Vowel Game 4 (attribute= letter and image match) It's clear that people are much more likely to type in vowel games so this is not the strongest way when you have 1 or 2 above. Regards Nigel

  • You are a proponent of adding the website name in the title?  You mean the Title, not the Meta Title correct?  And you are recommending nothing in the Meta keywords? The second H1 on our site is all part of the template so should be a quick change.  I think it can be completly removed does not need to be changed to H2 as it is just a duplicate of the other H1... I think will need to check it out. Thanks so much for the input. -mark
