301 Re-direct help
Not sure if this is the way it should exactly be handled, but here are some thoughts for consideration: 1. I'd consider pointing IP address of domain-A to IP address of domain-B, then set up a general 301 domain redirect for domain-A -> domain-B and then do 301 redirects per URL from domain-A to domain-B as applicable/relevant. The redirects would be setup to be managed on domain-b, as domain-a would be pointing to domain-b's server. 2. Since you're effectively "changing site address" here, so you'd want to ensure you have both sites and all versions setup in GSC (domain-a.com, www.domain-a.com, https://domain-a.com, https://www.domain-a.com domain-b.com, www.domain-b.com, etc., etc.) and then initiate a change of address for domain-a.com to go to domain-b.com. Cheers

UX and/or Conversion Help for Ecommerce
Input from the Moz community is great, but input from your own users is even better! I agree that tools like Hotjar or Inspectlet are a good way to measure the user experience. Just watch some recordings of users to get an idea of what they do on the site. This way you get some good understanding about their behavior and where they get stuck/leave. Alternatively you could do some usability testing with users. Research from Jakob Nielsen shows that in most cases you only need to test with 5 users to find around 75% of the usability problems. With the Retrospective Think Aloud (RTA) method you can set up tasks for users to test and record on your website. Afterwards you can ask the users some questions about their actions, while watching the recording with them. The RTA method is especially useful with eye-tracking, but you can also just use it when recording a screen. This requires more effort and time than watching recording in Hotjar or Inspectlet, but it will definitely give you some very helpful insights. Here's an helpful article from Tobii about RTA: http://acuity-ets.com/downloads/RTA%20usability%20guidelines%20short%20paper.pdf One thing I can suggest is to place your most popular/sold product on the first row. So they are always above the page fold and easier for your users to find without scrolling.

Adwords - Mobile Checkbox
Hi, An update on this since it came up in a recent conversation. Google reps seem to be saying now that for best performance it is wise to have two text ads in each group one with the mobile checkbox enabled and one without (assuming a single campaign / ad group aimed at all devices). They can be identical in all other aspects, although they do not have to be. The reasoning being that the adwords system will give a kind of 'bonus' to mobile specific text ads for searches done on mobile devices which may result in better position, reduced cpc etc for mobile searches. If you do not set up ad groups like this then your non mobile ads will continue to show on all devices but it is worth testing to see if the above setup brings better results for mobile queries!

Rank Tracker Tool Accurate?
Curious how rank tracker has been impacted by Google's removal of the location filter? It would seem that getting location agnostic requests (United States for example) would be significantly more difficult at scale. I've heard chatter of a few tools having issues now.

Images on Website for SEO
if there is no difference, why try to do as if? If the products are similar and the image is the same I usually take the same image. I don't know the shop and products, but if the products are the same, even the description, content and so on, you should think about using a canonical tag (from an SEO perspective): https://moz.com/blog/canonical-url-tag-the-most-important-advancement-in-seo-practices-since-sitemaps

Broad Match Modifier - Adwords Experts
Hi, This is the reason that I suggest you to create a separate ad group for BMM keywords only in which you have to add exact match and phrase match query as negative keyword so you can measure the performance of only BMM. If it is still not clear to you please let me know I will explain you by giving example. Hope this helps. Thanks

My Article on External Site
Open Site Explorer results seem legit. Just make sure that the content you create seems as natural as possible for that blog. Guest posting for link building can be tricky. It's on the older side, but this post from last year could help.

Serps display
Looks like it will actually be a "waste of time", per Google's John Mueller. "Google's John Mueller in a Google+ hangout was asked this at 51:40 mark and answered they will be going away. He said "it is kind of a waste of time" since "soon they will not be shown at all." - https://www.seroundtable.com/google-emoji-waste-of-time-20258.html Hope this helps. Mike

Site Penalized - 301 Redirect Question
Hi there, In order to reduce the risk of passing the penalty but to ensure customers and repeat visitors get from site A to site B, you can try a 302 redirect, a meta refresh or a JavaScript redirect. Google traditionally does not pass authority or anything else through these types of redirects; however, there have been discussions lately in the SEO community about these types of redirects possibly carrying penalties over to the new domain as well. However, I'd still say they're safer than a 301 if you ONLY want to take traffic with you, but essentially want to start afresh. Cheers, Jane

Should I Disavow Links if there is No Manual Action
There are many link-based algorithmic actions that can hit a site, including Penguin, so just because you don't have a warning of a manual action doesn't mean that you're not in trouble. I can't see the data, but this doesn't seem to be speculative - you're basically saying that certain pages and keywords have clearly been devalued. If you've ruled out technical issues with the pages (including duplicate/thin content issues), and you know the spammy links are targeting these pages, then I think disavowing is probably a good way to go. Ideally, try to have some of the links removed first, as that will make Google take the request more seriously (and disavow is basically a request, although it's semi-automated). It's entirely possible, too, that you're already headed for a manual action, so even if you do nothing, the situation could get worse. If you were unaffected, I might suggest pruning some of the bad links and focusing your future link-building on better tactics, but you're already taking damage.

Would you sign up for this Directory?
Paid directories are held at the same standard as paid links (see Matt Cutts Video). However, the directories are still weighed based on quality, amount value they add (such as original content), how much work the owners put in and etc. So many good directories do exist. Some good industrial directories (that I recommend) are: Thomasnet, MacRAE's and GlobalSpec (in that order).
