Keywords based domains redirecting to a site is considered spam isn't it ?
And if yes, then is it considered spam in all cases whether those domain based sites are related or non related to main site?
would it be better if:
1. I have all the text in separate hidden divs
or
2. or all the text is stored in javascript?
it must be blocked using the robots.txt file. Submitting http://mydomain.com/folder/ would remove all objects which reside under that folder including all web pages, images, documents and files.
Normally if two pages have similar content, you can use canonical tag to tell Google about your preferred page. But if you want to keep them both without using canonical then Google will randomly decide on of the 2 similar page.
Similar content is an issue for sure. though recently Google's algo has become complex and it can recognize type of the site like it seems to be OK for many eCommerce sites to have similar content.
But if you can reduce the percentage from 50 % to bit lower, it will be better I guess.
Yeah that's very true that for some industries search volume might be low but margin is high!
That's a good point you mentioned there! Though I wonder why would someone pay money and go for low volume keywords esp, not necessarily low volume keywords has high conversion rate!
Sometimes I notice in Google keyword tool that a keyword has very low search volume (<10) and high competition? Why would anyone go for a keyword with very less search volume ??
(note: If Checked in Google keywords tool with Exact match)
Though I understand this tool doesn't always have exact data but still any explanation to that question?
That's a good idea Iain. Thanks! Though link is pointing to homepage so can't redirect.
If Google Webmaster tools is showing a link to my site and when checked, that page doesn't exist (404 error), does that mean anything? Is it bad?
yes there is no use of adding keywords in meta keywords tag. And Oleg made a good point, its easy access for competitors to see your keywords!
putting in sidebar will still be detected by Google so no use I guess.
You can do one thing, just make one page of Guarantee and add guarantee button (saying checkout our guarantee) and then add this button to each page, users can click on this button to check out your guarantee and duplicate content issue will be solved. Because in this case now we only have pone page of grantee and its only the button that exists at multiple pages!!
find out some blog sites in similar niche which accept guest blogger. Write blogs on conserving energy etc and get links from there (But you need to win the trust of site admin first through active participation). Use Open site explorer to find out where your competitors are getting links from. This will give you an idea about the sites in your niche. Then try to get links from there.
Many ecommerce sites have this same problem. But Google's algo is complex enough to understand that there is a bit of similar content on such sites. So if its not a big chunk of text its should be ok. And I am not aware of any code of fix to this issue.
All you can do is make 4 or 5 combination (different versions of your guarantee text and use them alternatively to at least ease things a bit)
I would say its very tricky situation because in one way it is paid link, but some of the directories are really of high quality, you can check moztrust, Page Authority and Domain Authority through mozbar tool.
If authority is good and as you said its in your similar field so should be ok I guess.
Normally that's true. Back links from local sites with .au top level domain is better. But in many cases still if you get a high quality say .co.uk link, it can still work pretty well.
Though Link from a site with another language other than English doesn't make much sense and Google see it as fishy/spam in many cases.
That's good to know! thanks
I posted a blog on blogger 4/5 days back, though blog is good quality but site is useless and i want to remove it and put it some other site.
Is it ok for Google ?
I believe it might be indexed already
