• Citing your sources is good practice & you'll;l avoid aby potential penalisation.
• Google is clever enough to 'know' the original [older] content source
• Use regular links since you're citing the original authors
• If you can get your writer to rewrite some source content to make it 80%+original this would be better for your SEO campaigns as it's technically original content so will rank better - Though, take care as not to infringe copyright

That all depends on what you need it for, what does it do that GA & GSC (& Moz) doesn't do? Is it worth the subscription costs, which aren't published - so they'll probably feel how deep your pockets are.

Google doesn't always display the metadata that someone sets, it does at times elect to used copy from the page. Though saying that; this is the first time I've come across google not displaying the actual page URL, this could due be a setting on your CMS, it'll be worth your while checking that all of your Plugins are correctly configured.
