You should only need example.com -> Canonical to example.com/nl

RE: Publish an article for blog before the Keyword research
It's a somewhat unorthodox approach, but if you write about your businesses industry - if your a mechanic write, about cars - then it won't hurt your business. In my experience content is optimised for keywords, starting to publish articles sooner rather than later is a better approach in the long run.

RE: Best to Include Phone Number as CTA Button in Mobile Version of B+B Web Site?
Hello Alan,
The figure speaks for itself 35% of mobile traffic is more than worth the effort to get a button added to the mobile view of the site.
There isn't a protocol per se, just some very simple code, a variation of an anchor tag - https://developers.google.com/web/fundamentals/native-hardware/click-to-call/ - your developer will be able to create a button easily enough.
In addition, they will need to add a CSS @media rule - https://www.w3schools.com/cssref/css3_pr_mediaquery.asp

RE: Can you rank for keywords not listed on-page for SEO?
Hello,
Yes you can for a number of reasons, the content of your copy & your backlink profile being the 2 main ones.

RE: Is an Info Directory best on a Sub-Domain or Sub-directory
Don't use the sub-domain unless you have to which is generally when you want to run debit services under one domain such as a shop alongside your main website - or - you offer 2 completely different offerings under one domain selling cars & boats etc

RE: I have two robots.txt pages for www and non-www version. Will that be a problem?
It wont affect your SEO, you just don;t need the the non-https version

RE: Free tool, and it ranks well for adult sites and checking if they are down, will that hurt us with ranking for normal sites with google?
It's a potential yes since you have the websites listed on your website as a link. Have you tried to programmatically filter porn related phrases?

RE: Which keyword to use (plural / singular)
Over the past few years, I've tended to use & write for both. There is no hard & fast rule other than writing for the user - intent & context.

RE: Is Wordpress Website Backup Service Worth the Investment?
I agree with Salem, UpdraftPlus is the way to go, though I'd pay for the premium versions as you get support & help for $1 per week,

RE: Creating Tables with Multiple Links
Hi there,
Should be OK as long as you don't repeat the same schema in the same page... One schema type per page.

RE: Best to Include Phone Number as CTA Button in Mobile Version of B+B Web Site?
Hello,
Your mobile version does show a phone number, above the "Location" dropdown.
If you mean that you should display that phone number as a button, similar to the "Contact Agent" & "Schedule Tour" - then yes place a more prominent button there. It's advisable to limit CTA's, yes, I doubt 3 is too much though.
However, before you dive in, how much of your traffic is mobile? Would it be worth the effort.

RE: What's the current best practice for URL structure?
Hi there,
For Hotels, I would recommend:
WRT to your enquiry about the location, for hotels, I would use :
If you have multiple locations, then use
or
For Cottages:
- name.com/cottage/cottage-name/country/city
or
- name.com/cottage/cottage-name/state/city
Create Google My Business profiles for each location.

RE: Separate images (.jpg) or background images (.css) for list pages?
In my opinion, the 'normal' optimised images would be better because this would allow you to insert keywords in both the image name & alt tag. In both instances, I always recommend that you name the image file name using a keyword. In all instances make the images as small as possible WRT file size, that faster your site loads; the more Google will 'reward' you.

RE: Disavowing Links
I use the MOZ link explorer to get a report a backlink profile, then I create a shortlist us isolating High SPAM domains, low DA domains.
Then check I check all of these domains & create a Disavow file based on all the domains that are obviously poor quality, rinse & repeat every 3-4 months.
As always the MOZ team have an excellent article on this topic - https://moz.com/blog/links-to-target-with-disavow.

RE: How do I redirect SEO from pages on old website to new website with new domain name?
301 redirects & point the root domain also, your hosting provider will help with this.

RE: Page optimised and SEO ranking
WRT to your competitors Look at their backlink profiles & see where they're coming from. you are approaching your on-page SEO correctly.
Also strictly speaking meta-data should be looked at as a conversion element - give the user a reason to click on that link.

RE: Backlink (which one is better)
What is your product &/ or service? Use that as anchor text.

RE: The difference between pa and da
PA - Page Authority
DA - Domain Authority, basically the average of all the DAs
-
RE: Link building strategies
As bagia advised - you should target High DA sites, mix nofollow and dofollow link. The higher the DA the better the results will be; you'll rank higher quicker, but, lower DAs will get you a much more natural back link profile.
My only addition would be (whenever possible) to try connect to relevant sites, those in a similar industry as yours.
PR is OK if its genuine.
Directory submissions should be reserved for local SEO these days.
