How long does it take for Google for deindexing pages?
We are in much the same position as Taysir is - we have quite a number of 404s that we would like to have de-indexed from our site. Were you talking about 404s that were de-indexed in 24-48 hours or is there another way to have pages de-indexed with Google? We've been waiting 9 weeks as of now and none of them have "fallen" out.

Does a phone number in the title tag hurt your rankings in SERP?
Great discussion here, guys! Just thought I'd pop in to add my 2 cents. Having a phone number in the title tag will not 'hurt' the business in any way, and is a not uncommon practice in Local SEO. The only possible negative to doing this would be that you would have less characters to devote to words as they are being devoted to the digits of the phone number. So, that's about the only downside of doing this. Just remember, the client should be putting a unique title tag on every page, so some of his pages might have a phone number in the title tag, but don't use it on every page. Be creative, varied and informative in each tag and you should not expect any negative outcomes.

Google places is not showing up
Hi Ty, To be honest, you may need to hire a Local SEO to figure this out one-on-one with you. There are so many reasons a listing can drop or disappear. I will give a few ideas here, but this should by no means be considered as coverage of all the things that could cause this: You've failed to hide the address of a business that Google knows or believes doesn't serve customers at the place of business (i.e. the client has a go-to-client business model like a carpet cleaning company or dog walker). This can cause listings to be totally pulled. You have unknowingly violated a different guideline. The listing isn't actually not there...it exists but is buried so deep, you're just not finding it. The listing has merged with listing of one of the other branches in the business, or with that of a totally unrelated business. Duplicate listings may have caused the listing to drop out of site. This is just the tip of the iceberg, and as you can see, it's hard to diagnose anything like this without a hands on investigation of the issue. I do have a couple of recommendations for you to get you a little further along on your path. Fill out this Google Form to report the problem: http://support.google.com/places/bin/static.py?hl=en&ts=1386120&page=ts.cs Check out this thread at the Local Search Forum where a business is describing something quite similar. The advice is the same as mine - fill out the form - but I think you might seem some things in this thread that could ring a bell for you in your own situation: http://localsearchforum.catalystemarketing.com/google-places-help-support/427-google-local-page-just-disappeared.html

Subdomain or New Domain or Directory path?
Agree with Justin, and would add a twist. Consider buying the example.ca for the 2 Canadian cities and use them in your Canadian marketing. Just make sure they're 301-redirected to the appropriate directories on the main site. We Canadians do like to know that US-based companies actually have info that's specifically for us Also means that the call-to-action can be example.ca instead of example.com/city which might get a little cumbersome. Google Webmaster Tools will let you geo-target a directory, so helpful to do that as well.. Getting links from other .ca sites is also a bit of a signal to SEs that the destination page is for the Canadian market.. Getting Canadian user reviews citing the Canadian directory would also likely help the localization process Paul

Could a URL change path conflict a 301 redirect?
Hi Paul, You got it. Sorry if it was confusing and thanks for your answer. Good questions. Our brand new pages are completely different from the old pages in terms of coding, programing and structure wise. Ty,

Xml Sitemap
That is correct, you just submit as you would normally. There are two ways to submit the file: Via the webmaster tools interface. Have you created your webmaster tools account yet? Optimization -> Sitemaps -> Add Sitemap By referencing it in your robots.txt. Just add the following on a new line: Sitemap: http://www.yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml

What factors matters the most when using a 301 permanent redirect?
You might want to check that the linking root domain isn't just the domain the page is hosted on. If it is then it's probably worth just removing the extra page altogether. The best solution if not would probably be a rel=canonical tag rather than a 301. This means you won't be increasing page load times and it's fairly easy to implement too.
