Will this get penalized by google?
I'm assuming this is a hypothetical question, but if not, I would be interested to know how you managed to get 100 pages heavily shared around the same marketing campaign! It's difficult to make a conclusive judgement on this without knowing how you intend/how you have built all the links and social shares across 100 new pages on your site, but i'd think your main risk of penalisation is in redirecting a large number of pages all to the same location simultaneously, rather than in redirecting to something unrelated. I think you're unlikely to incur a major penalty doing this, but more of a risk will be that it might not do you any good. If you are auto-generating all of your social responses, this is going to be relatively clear to Google; as those social profiles will likely be lacking in the "real human" signals, which are relatively easy to pick out, and may therefore be discounted anyway. Plus, there isn't (as far as i am aware) any decent study which shows how Google treat social shares following a redirect once the sharing has died out. While a redirect may pass some link juice for you to the specific pages you want ranking, I can't quite understand the advantage of doing this rather than leaving the high value pages in place to build domain strength and continue to accrue social signals. You could instead put a few internal links on your high value pages to point at the targets you want to rank.

Primary link building for new clients, where do you go first?
I think these are two pretty good articles on link building you can get some ideas or use them for brainstorming: http://www.seobook.com/archives/001792.shtml http://www.seomoz.org/blog/link-building-from-a-to-z But you can find a couple more in semoz blog: http://www.seomoz.org/pages/search_results?q=link+building

Competition leaving bad reviews on our places page, what to do?
In all my years doing local search marketing the only bad reviews I have been able to get removed on Google are those that include profanity or "inappropriate content" and even those have required many email exchanges with Google. Have you read this: http://www.google.com/support/places/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=187622 Also remember to make it easy for your clients to post review by placing you places link on email campaigns and social media profile pages. Good luck!

Does CSS position effect the value of a link?
Links in footer is probably the worst place to put them. Links in sidebar are also of less value. Links are best in the content of a page. There is a body of evidence that for links based in the content portion of a page, the higher the link the more value it has. Such that, if the content is 3 paragraphs, P1 is better than P2 and P2 is better than P3. I know there is a good evaluation on this I read about 5 - 6 months ago and if I can find in under 5 minutes, I will edit in the url.

Not ranking as well in Yahoo/Bing as in Google. Why?
I don't know any resources that talk a lot about bing/yahoo. I've read that yahoo/bing are more biased towards having the keywords in the domain. I would do a bit of research on the url's that rank above you in the SERP's and look at things the higher ranking url's have in common.

New (google) local SERPs has 40 character limit on title length
I think you misunderstood me on "staying true to the page title" If your website is about selling blue widgets and you page title is "blue widgets - johns widget corp" then you are "staying true to the page title" You are letting people and search engines know that this page is about blue widgets. Also "blue widgets - johns widget corp" is under 40 characters so this would not be the best example. Your question was if you should change all your page titles to under 40 characters so that your entire page title would show. My answer / advise to you is; if you need more then 40 characters to properly describe your page then you should not change just so that all characters in your page title show.

Local search block seems to mess up ranking calculations!
I have noticed this myself. Very annoying especially with my business depending on it!

Haver ever seen opensiteexplorer be way off?
Turns out i was wrong. Take a look at this. Some sort of russian spam has created 1000s of backlinks for this site to the non-www pages. The weirdest part is when you visit those pages, they are forums, full of literally thousands of seo type spam posts full of links. And it gets even weirder. If you google translate those pages, the links to this site are using anchor text that is seemingly irrelevent. Like "buy barbie dolls online" or "best chicken noodle soup". WTF?! Why would anyone linkbuild like that? is there actually a benefit to having obscure anchor text pointing at your root domain? This is beyond bizarre.

Is this directory submission site worth the money?
I think if you're questioning it yourself, then you already have a big clue to the answer I'm learning the hard way that quick attempts to build generic directory links in the past were very short lived, so building links from sites that I would use/visit myself is usually quite a good starting point, it takes more time in acquiring them, but they're going to be good for the long term. Good luck!

What is the best social backlink checker available right now?
Hmm, i was hoping that there was a tool i could enter a url into and it would do a realtime search. I'm guessing OSE only updates their facebook backlinks once a month or so.

Do facebook shares pass share juice the same way links pass link juice?
Exactly how and if Facebook shares affect ranking is the subject of speculation. The only hard facts are what Google tells us: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxTmZulcQZ0 Everything shared in the video is exactly what I mentioned in the initial reply. Beyond this point we can only analyze, test and draw conclusions (i.e. best guesses). Some great analysis of the topic: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/does-google-use-facebook-shares-to-influence-search-rankings http://www.seomoz.org/blog/facebook-twitters-influence-google-search-rankings A conclusion drawn from the above, which I agree with is "Earning Facebook shares (probably) will not directly boost your Google rankings (though it may have positive effects that indirectly promote links, tweets and other signals Google may use)." Based on the above sources, I maintain the position shared in the original reply. I absolutely could be wrong which I freely acknowledge. I am simply sharing the knowledge I have acquired on this topic.

Does a page on a site with high domain authority build page authority easier? i.e. less inbound links?
Surely it helps, but it is not enough. As for authority that link could in an internal page, with less pr and PA then the home page obviously. Surely it helps a lot at domain authority level and in trust rank.

Do facebook shares of deep links help the whole domain rank better?
Social signals, and FB shares especially, have a strong correlation with rankings; therefore to have FB shares of internal links is surely useful. But not enough! Then, just one share surely is not going to make a real difference, therefore craft those product pages so cool that it is not possible to desire to share them. A good way to improve FB shares is to integrate your site with the FB open graph and let people sign in in the site with FB connect and comment your products with FB comments.

Share your favourite link exchange template email with us!
I agree with staying away from the link exchange page idea. However, I would think that you could find legitimate links from local sources, especially if you have any existing offline partnerships with them. Do you sponsor any little league teams or do any charity work? Do you offer free storage for women referred from the battered women's shelter (I know of movers that provide free moving for battered moving)? Anything like that you can ask for a link back from the people as a way for them to show their support. Natural links would also come from people involved in real estate, property management, student housing -- anyone that frequently deals with people that move and need a place to store things.
