  • Hi there According to SERoundtable.com, the Panda refresh is yet to come. I would keep your eye on them, as well as Webmaster World, as chatter usually originates there. There was also some movement last month, but that was really the last I have personally heard. But, looking at my clients, as well as outlet chatter, I haven't seen anything. One thing I would check, is your mobile traffic, as there has been reports of Mobilegeddon causing some stirs. Hope this helps! Good luck!

  • Hi there There's really no way of telling without a link to your client's site. Here's a great Q+A on StackExchange where users offer their ideas. Including... They find new sites by: Crawling and looking for signatures of known software. Usually this is a snippet of text like a copyright or a meta tag but it could be any consistent identifier. This usually applies to blog and forum software. Manual inclusion. Human beings, whose labor is cheap in many parts of the world, look for known software or forms that are easily exploitable and add them to a database. This usually applies to custom registration and contact forms. They buy lists. Just like email addresses are sold by spammers, known vulnerable or preferred target site lists are sold as well. So, it really could be a lot of things, but I wouldn't jump to inclusions. Just refer the resources above and start doing what you can! Hope this helps a bit - good luck!

  • Hello Rosemary, The main problem with this 403 error is, it generally means that the website’s server is blocking Googlebot’s access. These errors are indeed bad for SEO because the search engines can’t crawl that page. I'd like to know why are they 403 actually? Do the pages exist but any authorization is required? If any authorization is required, redirect the users to the login page. I don't think putting a 301 is ideal in this case but rather set a custom 403 page and put a no-index tag on it so they don't show up. Hope this helps! Thanks,

  • Hi there According to Google (who uses these citations to verify and validate information): "Name Your name should reflect your business’ real-world name, as used consistently on your storefront, website, stationery, and as known to customers. Any additional information, when relevant, can be included in other sections of your business information (e.g., "Address", "Categories"). Adding unnecessary information to your name (e.g., "Google Inc. - Mountain View Corporate Headquarters" instead of "Google") by including marketing taglines, store codes, special characters, hours or closed/open status, phone numbers, website URLs, service/product information, location/address or directions, or containment information (e.g. "Chase ATM in Duane Reade") is not permitted." Judging by this, I would stick to Gray Marketing. In the resource above, under the "Name" section, click "Learn more" - they provide examples of naming conventions that work and do not. Since Gray Marketing is the legal name and that's what clients know them as, and more likely search, I would stick with that. That's my two cents! Hope this helps! Good luck!

  • Thank you for your comments. I agree with you. Both sites do sell the same product but they do sell the product from a different angle and with different Ts and Cs, shipping etc etc. One site promotes its local shop as well online sales and works well online because we have a shop and people can see we are experts in our field. Also we tend to use the site to bring people to the shop so we can offer a far greater service. This site also has products that can be seen but not purchased online and are only available from the shop. The other site is mail order only and is more faceless but does appeal to some. I would argue that a 301 will loose some of these customers as they have already looked at other sites and decided t buy from here. I accept that the extra flow of traffic will result in sales but will it result in the same level of sales ? But if I get penalized could loose all round business so your comments will be taken serious and I appreciate your input. Thank you

  • Hey Adrian! Definitely keep this all under one roof, as others have said. Focus on building out super content about the different services and you should benefit the overall brand from all this work instead of divvying it up between multiple sites. *Do remember, one location only entitles you to one Google+ Local page, regardless of the number of services offered, unless you have a multi-dentist practice, in which case you can build a Google+ Local page for each practitioner. That scenario can enable you to do interesting things with the categories - optimizing one listing for a certain type of service and another listing for another service, provided you're adhering to the guidelines. Only proviso here is to be aware of historic problems with dealing with doctor/dentist duplicates in Google's system.
