How to optimize local practices in a hospital group
Hi Robert, Just to add to David's answer, to really help with local SEO, here are a few pointers which I always have great success with. And yes, keep everything on one site rather than splitting it up. Create your pages On each page ensure the NAP (Name, address, phone) follow the same format Add local information such as "how to get here via bus" - "How to get here via car", etc Add a local landmark for those travelling on foot or car to look out for Add a local map Will people need to use a taxi to get to you? Add a link to a local company These will all help with local results and the more informative the page the better. Remember that each local site can have its own Google Local listing. Here is the information specific to that. Make sure that your page is created at your actual, real-world location. Use the precise address for the business rather than broad city names or cross-streets. P.O. Boxes are not considered accurate physical locations. If you need to specify a mailbox or suite number within your physical location, please list your physical address in Address Line 1, and put your mailbox or suite number in Address Line 2. If your business rents a temporary, "virtual" office at a different address from your primary business, do not create a page for that location unless it is staffed during your normal business hours. Do not include information in address lines that does not pertain to your business’s physical location (e.g. URLs or keywords). Do not create more than one page for each location of your business, either in a single account or multiple accounts. Individual practitioners and departments within businesses, universities, hospitals, and government buildings may have separate pages. See specific guidelines about individual practitioners and departments for more information. I hope this helps. -Andy

What can I do to rank higher than low-quality low-content sites?
Wow, never caught that before; just saw the similar thing that lists them but doesn't do anything about them down in the crawl section. Thanks to you as well! Hopefully that'll raise some flags that this stuff needs to not be around anymore when they make another pass at it. You guys are so helpful and encouraging!

International Confusion between .com and .com/us
Have you confirmed that Googlebot is being redirected as well and it's for sure a 301 redirect? If the redirects are IP based, it's possible Google figured out that there is an IP redirect (which is NOT recommended) and therefore, for a brand search, are giving the main domain with the US content - which is all they can see with an IP based redirect. For your third question: Stop the redirect. Use a JS prompt to ask people to set a location preference and set a cookie based on that. Use sitemaps to push all country content to the SEs. Think about a responsive site rather than an m.domain.com - but if you must have that, make sure to make a separate sitemap for that and claim it in Webmaster Tools. Ensure that your mobile content is marked up correctly and if needed, the right canonicals are in place.

Why moz do not show website competitive metrics
Hi There, This is a fairly tricky one to answer, though it does seem that I will need to agree with our crawler on this one. There seems to be a few questions so if I miss something or you would like some additional clarification let me know. My instinct is that when it comes to the contact info the .lv is throwing us off. Though we are working hard to include more TLD's my gut instinct is that when we attempt to parse the page the lack of a .net or .com email is throwing us off. One important thing to know when it comes to spam score is that these are just general indicators that we associate with spam. There is always the chance that a non spammy site will have some indicators attributed to it but still not be spam, depending on how the site was set up. The next two issues are not mutually exlusive because it looks at the site as a whole and not the homepage. So for example if you have a portion of the site that is comprised of a small amount of text without any substantial content both of these triggers could occur. We know this is a lot so I would really recommend reviewing Rands post on spam score here: https://moz.com/blog/understanding-and-applying-mozs-spam-score-metric-whiteboard-friday I would really recommend reviewing this material and speaking to your web developers. Spam score is a great first step to facilitate a conversation between you and your developers to focus on areas of the site that may be problematic. It may be the case that the portions of the site that have thin content have a very good reason for being there so they should stay. Same page Anchor Links vs Internal Link (Cannibalisation)
No worries Don't forget that both rel=canonical and internal linking can send good signals to Google in terms of which page is prominent. A 301 (if used) can be reversed out of if you ever need to do a semi-permanent redirect, but these days, rel=canonical does pretty much the same. -Andy
