Erratic Rankings Earlier This Month - UK
I've been watching some large sites, and I've seen some pretty crazy things around the 14-17th, with most sites seeing the biggest impact in ranking drops on the 16th. It was clearly an update, but I can't find reliable info on what exactly it was - probably because it affected a small niche of sites. Does your site receive a lot of traffic for local terms by chance? My working theory is another update to local search results. (Trying to show more companies that work in that area, possibly with more local packs.) The reason I'm thinking local is because it was the biggest shift in rankings I've seen in a long long time, and tools like Mozcast didn't pick up a big change. There are so many possible combinations of local terms that it's nearly impossible to track even a small set of keyword + city terms. Anyway, I've seen about the same as you - a big drop for some key local terms, followed by a slow and steady recovery. The results looked pretty bad when the update was first made, so maybe Google realized it wasn't a good update and has rolled some of it back. Of course this is all just speculation. I'd love to hear what other types of terms people have seen ranking decreases on.

Moz Local: Does cancelling change information in business listings?
Hey Dandelion! We do send a signal to our partners when a listing is cancelled, but that message is effectively just saying "this listing is no longer being managed by Moz". From that point, each aggregator has a different way that they treat that and respond. Most aggregators just metaphorically shrug their shoulders, dissociate our service with the listing in their database and move on, but a couple (namely, Acxiom and Localeze) elect to revert the listing back to its previous form. I can totally see how the result could feel like a malicious action from our side, but I assure you that we're taking the most mild action possible with each of out partners to simply relinquish ownership of that listing. I hope this helps to provide some color to the way those relationships work! Let me know if you have any further questions!

What's the 20/80 rule in local SEO as it relates to health care organizations
Hi Patrick, As each of these is genuinely a forward-facing department with its own phone number, then listing each should not be regarded by Google as spam in any way. Many hospitals and colleges have numerous departments. It's true - this will lead to quite a cluster of markers on the map, but if customers zoom in, Google will spread them out. Hope this helps!

Can a Self-Hosted Ping Tool Hurt Your IP?
We are not using Wordpress for any of the tools, and all will be handled using PHP. This is a separate directory from our main site used strictly for the tools. Our main site does not use Wordpress either. The server resources are not an issue at this time, as we have a very powerful setup. I am not worried about how many times a subscribed user wants to ping their site. I am more concerned about where the ping is being sent out from and how many times.

Open Site Explorer Messge - Mysite.com redirects to www.mysite.com
Hi Jorge, Did you managed to sort this out? I have exact same issue on my domain too. My message is like this. You entered the URL https://a-fotografy.co.uk/ which redirects to http://www.a-fotografy.co.uk/. Because it's likely to have more accurate metrics, we're showing data for the redirected URL instead. Click here to analyze https://a-fotografy.co.uk/ instead? **https://a-fotografy.co.uk/ **is my current domain. I'm not even sure why it is redirecting to my old domain. Let me know if you managed to sort your issue and I see if I should do the same. Thanks. Regards, Armands

Should I keep subpages for item types or condense information all on one page?
Hello Deacyde, As you've probably guessed, this is a difficult question to answer without actually seeing the site and the content in question. However - generally speaking - it is best to consolidate your efforts on fewer pages. Related to that, even though there aren't any other "synonyms" that produce much traffic, making sure you are writing about the topic in a natural way, using related words, synonyms, co-occurrence words... should help. Links are often the big factor in cases like this, all other things being equal. I assume these pages have content that would entice people to link to them?

Exact match domain - should i use one
If your "brand" is going to be "Region Family Holidays" then an EMD is fine. Just make sure you're branded that way, and try to cultivate a variety of natural backlinks. If your brand is "Acme Travel UK" and the site is regionfamilyholidays.co.uk then you'll be fighting a losing battle.

How to make a wrong link profile right
Are the links bad? If not, don't worry so much about where the links are pointing. The link distribution models to even out linking page, anchor text, etc. aren't necessary unless the links come from spam sites. Building (legit) links to deeper pages is generally a good strategy since the terms are more specific and often less competitive. If you think you're under penalty, though, let me know and my advice would be very different.

Keyword rankings "soon"?
Hello there! When you first create your campaign, we perform a rush collection to gather data for your site. Generally you'll start to see this information come through within 24 to 48 hours of campaign creation. You can check out the Rankings tab of your campaign to see if they've arrived! However, if you added new keywords after the initial creation of your campaign, they will not be included in this rush collection and you will need to wait until your next weekly crawl to see results. It's difficult to tell which case this is without looking at the campaign, but if you have additional questions please contact us at help@moz.com to take a look!

Splitting and moving site to two domains - How to redirect
You can do that. No problem. It will be best for wholesale customers. My comments are designed to be best for retail rankings. If my connections to wholesale customers are poor then I would use your method. If my connections to wholesale customers are strong them I would do what's best for retail rankings. It is simply a matter of choice.

Why doesn't MailChimp use an SSL certificate on their homepage?
Well the rest of their site which requires a login does, I doubt that a company like MailChimp is going to have any boost by switching to HTTPS for just their homepage. To state once again, HTTPS is just another very small ranking factor on top of the other hundreds they already have. It's just been in the news more than others, so in the case of MailChimp who's been an authority in e-mail marketing I doubt they'll see any big changes due to the fact that they do or don't support HTTPS.

KW Top Level Report Only Shows 50+ When It's Clearly on First Page
The above two answers are accurate, you should use your chat in moz pro to ask that question. However, maybe my experience can save you that convo. The Moz index is constantly being improved and they rolled out a new version recently. The issue you are having might be because your keyword just made it to the top of the index and Moz's data hasn't yet included or even crawled that keyword since its status has changed. I would wait a week and check again. Also, check the locality settings on your tracked keyword, maybe your personalised results have it as number one but a non-personalized global search wouldn't. If the error persists for more than a week, definitely check with them. I know from experience that it takes time for updated info to make it into your dashboard, especially for social media data. Moz provided very useful products and services but they aren't perfect ... yet...

Tips on speeding up disavow process and still doing it right
I'm sorry to say, there really is no way to speed it up without cutting corners! Link removal is a painfully slow process but one that needs to be done if your link profile is terrible. I don't use exactly the same process as that guide but it's pretty close and it's going to be about the same speed. There are automation tools out there and maybe a little Excel trick or two that could save you seconds but if you've got a big, low quality profile, there really is no way to save any significant amount of time without risk of missing some.
