TL;DR - Yes and no. There are two cases and i will be descriptive as possible. 1st case is if subfolder are linked from other pages. Like /subfolder2/page2 -> /subfolder1/ or /subfolder1/page1 -> /subfolder2/. In this case you link direct to 404 page and this can frustrate users and bots too. There is also some confirmation that nonuseful 404 page is low quality signal too: http://themoralconcept.net/pandalist.html (#10 in low quality signals). That's why you need to use crawlers and fix 404s - good for users and good for bots too. 2nd case is when users are curios. I'm one of them. Sometime. So let's say we have curious URLs: http://www.moz-team.com/randfishkin/article1http://www.moz-team.com/randfishkin/article2 http://www.moz-team.com/randfishkin/article3 http://www.moz-team.com/cyrussheppard/article1 http://www.moz-team.com/cyrussheppard/article2 http://www.moz-team.com/cyrussheppard/article3 as you can see urls are very clean and very descriptive. And now add curious user (pick me!) that can want to see more about Rand or Cyrus. This can be page with CVs, short bio or list of all their articles. So just editing URLs to: http://www.moz-team.com/randfishkin/ or http://www.moz-team.com/cyrussheppard/ using backspace. In perfect world this will give information... but in your case 404. And this is not good for users. That's why it's much better if you can create "category" page for each subfolder even if this isn't linked from other pages. I just wanted to say that EGOL's and Fuel Travel's post are the most excellent responses I've ever received for our site. Fuel Travel, we don't have many (maybe any?) competitors that are like us. We have competitors that compete with different aspects of our site (competitors for orgone products, competitors for shamanism, competitors for supplements) but no-one ties them together like us. How can we use this to our advantage, and what in the heck do we use for home page keyword - not that you can tell us but give us some clues on how to come up with them since we are so unique and almost too cutting edge in our field. There's not really a path set in Google and searchers for our site as a whole, just as pieces. Please any more advice from anyone is also appreciated.

The main thing that an exact match does for me is that it provides "mental energy".  If I own Baloney.com I am going to be all about baloney and post plenty of baloney every day.  Mental energy is the most important weapon that I have.

Some additional thoughts.... If I was going to do this myself, I would put the detailed article on my own site. Then, if I have ten top quality sites who will accept the infographic with a short article, I would write ten unique introductions that will appear above the infographics on these other websites.  And, I would write ten unique conclusions to the infographic that will also appear on these other websites.  The conclusion would be followed by an invitation to visit my site where more detailed information can be obtained. Another way to do this, which I believe is superior, is to give the full article with infographic to the ten top-quality websites and have them implement rel=canonical back to the full article page on my site.

Hi Joricia, What do you use for transcribing? I've tried Dragon but it's video transcription function is useless. Don't really have the money to get everything manually transcribed. Thanks, Jim

Google's official recommendation is just to unblock js/css and let it figure it out since it's smart enough now. I personally like to give as many suggestions/clues to follow as possible so that it doesn't get confused. IMO, the onclick/href hybrid is probably the best for user experience. With proper canonicals set up (so that Google only indexes 1 version and avoids any duplicates), it's also my suggested method for SEO.

Hmm. Sure looks like you're doing everything you should and correctly. You have more citations that your competitors with the exception of Irrigation. You have more reviews. "Am I wasting my time optimizing for this? " I'd wait a while longer to see what unfolds. I'd optimize organically. I'd add "garden center" as a local search category in addition to gardener. (I used Blumenthal's category list to find your options, last updated 2/15/14.) I'd continue to accrue as many citations and reviews as possible. I'd publish a KML and GEO sitemap. (Not sure if these are still used by Google, but they can't hurt. Miriam may have an opinion on that.) I wish there was a clear and definitive answer I could give you but, as you undoubtedly know, it's just not the nature of this beast. Please do give us an update after more time has passed. I am and will be curious.

I check and seems that your site is OK from mine side - GCE, Amazon EC2 and in Eastern Europe. There are few issues - SSL3, weak DH and files as: https://www.pouyasazan.org/IT-news/25876/css/css/css/css/css/css/css/css/css/css/css/css/css/tooltipster.css (breaking relative and absolute path), also no 404 page because everything return "200 OK" (soft 404). But they isn't critical for your site working and it works. Server works and i just hammering it with many requests. You cannot unless you can use Moz bar to  do you anonymous searches in Google.ca .de  etc. Like I said in the beginning if you want that type of information by zip code you will have to use a tool like SERPS.com or http://isearchfrom.com

However, once you have a good 404 page, it is really worthwhile to use the Moz tools to find and correct any 404 errors you have. Every redirected URL has the chance to enhance your domain authority.
