  • Duplicate title tags are generally not something that you want--but in some cases they are necessary. If the content on the page is different, then it is not going to be a disaster for the site. I would make sure that Yoast is enabled (or use some other way of taking care of your site's meta data, etc.). If you do have a duplicate title tag issue, though, keep in mind that there may be other issues associated with that. For example, you may need to use the canonical tag to take care of pages that are duplicates (thus the duplicate title tags) or use the robots.txt file to disallow indexing of certain sections of your site.

  • Hello Ian-- It's been a few years since this post, I'm curious for updates! Does the Mozscape API include search volume yet? Are there plans to? I've been struggling to write a scraper that would do this for me, an API would certainly simplify things.

  • Hi there, If you're trying to make more relevant some page, as you do some traditional linkbuilding, internal links shuold come too. As Eric stated, dont create links just looking at the relevance of the page where the link would go, be careful about the visitors, be constructive and creative. About the content, It would be advisable to create specific content for that targeted page. Even more, some blog posts about that scholarship, with its corresponding internal links. Dont abuse from the blog posts, remember to look after the audience. Hope it helps. GR.

  • Hi all, sorry for the delay, I am away on a business trip, this is why I stopped communicating the past few days. I can confirm that the latest entries (those after March) come as a single instance. However there are some minor exceptions like the one here Example of a recent article indexed in both desktop (even though desktop url is not the canonical) and mobile URL https://www.google.gr/search?q=site:neakriti.gr&biw=1527&bih=899&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiIxODGt5_MAhUsKpoKHdcUAkYQ_AUIBigA&dpr=1.1#q=site:neakriti.gr+1315539&tbs=qdr:w&filter=0 Also I noticed that with the "alternate" and "canonical" links the mobile version of the site doesn't get indexed anymore (with minor exceptions like the one above).

  • Hi there. As far as I understand, province is equivalent of state. Since most countries don't have states, but their local state "substitutions", this is where you'd put it in. I'm not sure how you guys have it in Britain, but here is example of russian address - 123 Blabla st, City, Udmurt Republic (this one would be province), Russia. Hope this helps. P.S. If you don't have specific province to put in, I'd leave it blank.

  • When it comes to hosting images off site, keep in mind that there may be connectivity and image load speed issues associated with these images. I typically wouldn't rely on an image being pulled from someone else's site, even if it was something like Flickr or Photobucket. I don't think those particular services intend for you to use their service like that. Rather, we typically will set up a CDN for hosting the images or PDFs, and use a subdomain of the main site in order to host the images. For example, we would set up images.domain.com and pdf.domain.com and put the images and PDFs on the CDN.

  • As per Dirk and Logan, personally I would try and not have two sets of content to be delivered, the point of responsive is really to have one page that is simply delivered visually consistent on all device types. With regards to it being considered as duplicate content this is a little harder to determine and I would imagine Google may not penalise you for it really unless it is really spammy and used for keyword stuffing/cloaking etc. Here is an old video from M. Cutts, although it may not be totally relevant in today's SEO landscape and is probably more geared towards duplicate pages.

  • I agree with Dirk. Most of your content is copied from elsewhere. Also, your links do not look right and mainly from commenting on other articles. You have plenty of links, so it would be quite challenging to clean them up. But if you want to be considered for re-indexation, you need to rethink the way you do SEO. Clean up your links, use disavow tool for links that you can't remove yourself. Also, your content needs to be original. When you feel like you've done everything you could, file Google reconsideration.

  • My understanding is that AMP pages don't need to be HTTPS themselves, but the resources they link to often need to be (see https://www.ampproject.org/docs/reference/validation_errors.html). I think that is so it can be cached by Google and served on an HTTPS site without problems.

  • Ryan, the Google Analytics tracking code is not implemented in a PDF, it's only actually implemented (the JavaScript code) by the user's browser. So, you're exactly correct: Google Analytics is only showing how many times the PDF link was clicked on from a webpage, whereas GWT is showing all of the clicks when the PDF showed up in SERPs.

  • There is generally no reason that you need to redirect old images if the new site design no longer uses them. However, you might just keep them on the server in the same location.

  • Not true, actually. On desktop it's just displayed differently. If you do your search, you can see that nordstrom name is actually on the right of breadcrumb names. So, that's another thing. If you can get your company name to come up like that (it usually is being pulled from Wiki), your chances go up by a lot rbSMHG1
