  • Hi From an SEO perspective there are no risks in taking this approach, but you will be limiting your overall visibility in local markets because Googlebot will only see the English version of your content. It will not see any of the translated versions at all and therefore you will struggle to rank in your local markets such as Spain, France, India etc. In order to take full advantage of available local search volume you'll need to set up separate URLs with fully translated content (do not use Google Translate!) for your target markets. But in the meantime, no it's not bad for SEO (in so far as there are no risks), but it is not beneficial. Hope this helps and good luck!

  • Hey WWW SEO, It seems to me that the pages' implementations seem correct, so it doesn't appear to be a tracking-based issue. Have you taken to top terms that are driving traffic to these pages (Google Search Console or internal data if you have it) and plotted them in Google Trends to see how they compare over the past 24 months or so? Some may not be high-enough volume, but those that are should give you a feel for where the the volume stands in YoY comparison. Regards, Trenton

  • The only thing I can think of is if you are located in the UK. It might of affected your rankings if the firewall uses US Data centres? If this is your site: http://bearsbys.com/ You are using a .com domain for a UK website so having your IP change to US could mess things up a little. The first thing I would do is go to Google Webmaster Tools and make sure you have set your Location to the United Kingdom. Check to see if your site is hosted on a UK Hosting provider. Then check and see if Sucuri only uses US Data Centres.

  • Would you be willing to share the domain? Does the site render the same in the preview? My first thought is that you may potentially be rendering two different pages.... When I check this on other sites, I'm not seeing a difference even though a redirect is in place.. (something I thought they would flag).

  • Hi Tej, If you have Google Search Console set-up for the site, you can fetch/render the page from within search console and see what Google sees when they visit. You can also try looking at the cache of the page to see what Google has rendered. Also.. in response to B above, you should create a method to access that page directly via a specific unique URL, for which you can then specify the titles/descriptions.  In the application, where you have the links to load new content via ajax, you would set the pushstate to the permanent url where that page could be accessed, so Google can find/crawl those pages.

  • Hey there! Unfortunately we don't currently have an option to exclude certain crawl errors from reporting in your UI. You can always download the Site Crawl CSV and filter the results to hide those errors, if you wish!

  • In terms of whatever help Google might give to a site with https vs http, no, this doesn't really matter: What type of SSL certificate works best? Companies offer a myriad and confusing array of SSL certificates. The two primary ones to pay attention to are: Standard Validation SSL – Standard level of validation. Typically cost between $0-$100. Extended Validation SSL – Offers the highest level of validation and often costs between $100-500. From a rankings point of view, it makes absolutely no difference what type of certificate you use. For now. John Mueller of Google has stated that Google doesn't care what kind of SSL certificate your website uses, but that may change in the future. For the reasons outlined in the blog post that Gaston linked to by Cyrus, you'll see that it could make a difference from a UX perspective since the EV certificates can look more trustworthy: [image: 540d50cd94bd58.88267717.jpg] https://d1avok0lzls2w.cloudfront.net/uploads/blog/540d50cd94bd58.88267717.jpg For an enterprise, the extra cost should be negligible. However, you should know that some of the EV certificates will only work on one subdomain, so you may need to purchase multiple certificates if you want to cover extra subdomains. "Wildcard" certificates that can work on multiple subdomains have only recently been available for EV certificates and are a bit more expensive I think.

  • It would also be great to be able to delete or add/manage labels from each individual line (keyword) in the list, versus having to check the box(es) to select the keywords and then scroll all the way to the top to hit delete or add label. If you have a long list you're managing, this is time consuming! Also, the ability to sort by header (keyword, labels, or location) would be helpful. Thanks!

  • You're likely to see problems resulting from a few different factors: Search engines go through a limited number of pages on your site, known as a crawl budget. Around a third of that budget will go cataloguing duplicate products, which is a waste since those pages will be discarded since... If a search engine sees two pages with the same content only one will rank. This means there is no point from an SEO perspective to having those 4,000 extra pages, since nobody will land on them Because you're providing content that sin't high quality the rest of the site may well get hit by Panda, bringing the rest of your rankings down Customers will see the two identical products, spend a bit of time trying to figure out the difference between them, get frustrated, then buy from somebody else If you're looking at convincing your boss not to do this then here's the important bit: add those products and you risk getting fewer people to your site and fewer of those people turning into customers.

  • I have had something similar, this is response I received: You don’t have canonical tags on the URL and that’s expected. On pages where BVSEO is implemented, canonical tags must be updated or removed when the product contains more than one page (more than eight) of reviews. BVSEO paginates the product page so all reviews are in the search engines’ index. Canonical tags that point away from a pagination URL will cause search engines to ignore the paginated content. When any of the BVSEO pagination parameters are present (bvstate, bvrrp, bvqap, bvsyp, bvpage), do one of the following: •Remove the canonical tag. This is the most common, recommended solution. •Append the "name=value" pair to the canonical URL.

  • Hi Gavo, The Google Rep is right - what you're describing about the second business has all the earmarks of a listing that would get flagged and removed by Google, and this could actually hurt the work you've done for the first business. What are those earmarks? Shared category of products/services Shared address -Shared phone number If your client's second business was selling vacuum cleaners instead of driveway services and had its own phone number, it would be okay to move forward, but from your scenario description, attempting to use Google to market the second business would be a mistake. Now, not every directory shares Google's stringent policies, BUT if you do decide to build citations other than at Google for the second business, you should take these precautions: Separate phone number Separate website with totally unique content Don't link between the two businesses to try to cross promote them Even with these precautions, there is risk of troubling citation inconsistencies arising from the fact that two driveway businesses are sharing the same address. You could wind up with merged listing details out there in the ecosystem, so if you choose to go this route, forewarn the client of the risks before taking any steps in this direction. So sorry ... this is probably not the news your client is hoping to hear, but honestly, if you prevent him from making a costly mistake, you could be saving his bacon

  • Hi Gaston, Thanks for verifying my own thoughts on the matter. It is currently set up as the first one with breadcrumbs. At 400-500 products this is probably right. I may look to convert it for when we expand the product range in the future but I will keep it as it is for now. Thanks for the input

  • It does look like you have link issues and your site has been hit by Google Penguin. I would review all the links--pull them from OSE, GSC, Ahrefs, and Majestic.com, combine them, and consider running them through Link Research Tools' Link Detox report. That will give you a good idea of which links you need to disavow right away. We don't know when the next Penguin is coming out (when it will be updated), so cleaning up those links is a must right away.
