Uninstalled WordPress, now getting 200 errors of 500 response code
PM sent with the code (in case you're okay making your own .htaccess file) or a link to a zip file that has a ready-made .htaccess file if you prefer. Note: This will only work if you use Apache and have htaccess & mod_rewrite enabled... If you're on a linux host, chances this is okay but if in doubt, my contact details are in the PM. Once done, feel free to email me the list of all error pages if you still have it, I'll paste into Screaming Frog in list mode and check that all the error pages now return 301s for you.

Will Regularly Adding New Blog Posts Improve Ranking?
Very good answer by EGOL. Quality over quantity any day. As for being awesome content, remember that it should be awesome content that answers the needs, questions etc of your target audience. Also, remember that to be truly effective, your content should speak to your demographic at different stages in their buying cycle. From 'Discovery' pieces, through to comparison articles etc, always be mindful when writing an article who you're targeting the content to, what stage of the funnel they are likely to be, and how you can HELP them understand the issues and move on to the next stage. Sounds like a lot of work, but once you get into the workflow, it's worth it. For content ideas, think of questions too - If you've been in an industry for a while, you may already know what common questions come up - use this! It's gold. Also, if you have any sales folks (or any customer-facing folks) ask THEM what questions they get asked by customers most often - keep a list, look for trends and there you have an ideas list for your articles. This is just one idea - there's loads of great advice out there on the web for this sort of thing. Check some Whiteboard Fridays on content topics too, there's some good ones from what I remember. I'd then mix really stellar content with some outreach. Be careful with outreach though, be smart and always think of adding value. Can you partner with any businesses in the articles? Can you write any guides that mention other (non-competing) businesses and produce or co-authored piece that'll be shared to both your social audiences & email lists? If you do base an article on customer questions, would the customers be happy to be mentioned in the piece (always ask!) as if so, perhaps they'll share it? (who better to help you reach more If you do base an article on customer questions, - always as permission - but, would the customers be happy to be mentioned in the piece ( "Joe Blogs from [town] raised a great question which lead to this article...] as if so, perhaps they'll share it? (who better to help you reach more customers, than your existing happy customers). Anyway, just a few ideas.

Are there any tricks for checking duplicate content?
Hi Tomasz, Loading with a delay may alter the effect of what a tool reports I guess (though the tools may wait until the page is fully loaded/DOM ready or something?), but I don't think it'll solve the issue as such to be honest, as the dupe content would still be on the page. If you don't like the idea of a link opening in a new tab, there's always the option of an iframe I guess, on the relevant tabs? Though it'd be a bit of work to make it responsive.

How to increase Page authority of old blog posts
Hi Mike, Great! Do not worry, I know about the issues with the Spanish accents. You are absolutely right. Your answer is very complete, with all the options available. I have only mentioned, the cross linking, assuming that all the other options were already tried. Which might be not be true nor the best option as a start. Specially if the practitioner does not have experience enough. Mª Verónica

Unable to view Dashboard after iOS 10 upgrade.
Not a great answer. I have this as well. More and more people using iPad pros now you need to support this. I pay hundreds of $ a month for something that only works on half my devices.

How to correctly handle award badges
Hi there. I wouldn't say that those links HAVE to be nofollow. It depends on how client handles it. If basically they'd like to give you credit for that badge than i don't see no reason for using nofollow link. Here is an idea for you. Talk to winners, see if they would like to write (or post pre-written) blog post or an article about how they got that badge, how proud they are etc, and mention you in that post (with a follow (or nofollow) link). That way the badge doesn't even have to have a link. And everything is very organic and natural. Hope this helps

Sitemap.xml change to anchor links (converter)
I think I understand what you are trying to do, but I may be off with the semantics. The xml sitemap (at it's most basic level) is just a centralized list of links for pages that are on your site to help the search engines find pages without having to crawl all of the pages on your site. They do not contain any anchor text in them. If you are wanting to crawl your site and find out what all your anchor text is internally, I would use a tool like Screaming Frog. If you are trying to extract information from your sitemap.xml then you would need to use a combination of a text editor and excel. Say your URL structure includes product and brand information and you have all the URLs in a sitemap. You can pull that document into a text editor and then use the "Find and replace" function to get rid of all the extraneous code and then you can be left with just the URLs on one line. You can then use the excel function "Text to columns" to then split out the URL into sections based on slashes or dashes. If you have Screaming Frog, it will extract all the URLs for you and then you can split out the info in excel as well. Use Google to find examples of how to run the tools mentioned above in detail. If I am totally off, please give a more detailed explanation of what you are trying to do and that will help as well.

Does removal of internal redirects(301) help in SEO
Hi Dirk, You got it right. All the pages we redirected were pointing to similar pages once, so probably they should be okay as u said. Regarding disavow; what are the metrics to decide on a link? Some links might be good looking with decent DA and might be hurting us. What's the best way to findout actual back-links dropping us down. Disavow comes with risk as there are chances we may reject good links, so it's better to make sure about the links. Thanks, Satish

Can you help me figure out why my website is in conflict with guidelines of Google ?
Guidelines are general. Each website is different case so you have to check if your markups are spammy or not. Spammy means: too much selected for structured markups improper use of markups markups in markups and so on...

Moving to new platform
If it's a system that doesn't support .htaccess, it's likely IIS as Kevin said. That said, when you say: So, I don't have a way to do 301 redirects. ... This makes me wonder if it's not IIS (as 301s are possible with IIS, just in a different way, as Kevin outlines). It'd be good to confirm what your hosting environment is either way though, as it'd be hard for anyone to give a decent answer without knowing this.

Dislodged own ranking with poorer quality page?
I would say a few factors at play Just guessing, but if the ranking in question is "best g9 led bulbs" then the post outranks partly because it's in the HTML page title tag and H1, while it's not in the product page While only part of the equation, the blog post has over 500 words and the product listing page has under 250. Word count isn't the only metric, but it's a large influencer You have one internal link from the blog post to the product listing page, consider building out more - this is a good starting guide https://www.gotchseo.com/internal-linking/ There are some longstanding SEO basics that may still apply here, such as using the keyword early on in the page, having content higher in the page, etc. While not always possible on ecommerce pages, keep in mind when there's opportunity Hope that helps, let me know if you have any further questions!

Redirect 301 still works?
Another thing to tell your friend. If 301s did not work, the whole web would implode. This would suck for website owners as they would never be able to change anything with a URL without losing traffic. It would suck for Google as they would have perfectly good pages that move drop out of the index for no other reason that it moved, This would mess up their search results as good quality pages would drop out of the index and this would suck for users as they would not be able to find good quality pages in Google. Google does not want to upset users as they need to users to keep using Google. If website owners were penalized in this way, they could get frustrated and stop producing good content. It is kind of a "chicken or the egg" type of explanation, but I think you get the point. All of that said, there can be issues with how 301s are used, 301s can be used incorrectly, this can mess up rankings, and that is true. But done right, 301s work, and they have to so that everyone (users, webmasters, Google) can benefit from a better web.
