  • How long would it usually take for a web page to start appearing on page 1 of google. Some pages will appear on page 1 the first day the page is online. Other pages will never make the first page. There are many factors involved which include your site's links, the page's links, how well the page is optimized for the keyword involved and how much competition there is for the given keyword. Any suggestion for airport parking keyword will be much appreciated As Steve mentioned, your first step would be to determine your locations. Your home page mentions "Airport Parking services provided at - Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Liverpool & Leeds". When I look at the page, it seems optimized mainly for Manchester. This is a problem. You may want to have your home page be a generic "UK Airport Parking" page, and then offer specific pages for each individual airport. This approach will lead to better rankings for each of the 9 areas your site covers. Also, by removing the other 8 airport listings from the Manchester page, you will be better optimized and not have your focus diluted.

  • A good way to know how many pages are indexed in Google is to check the Top Landing Pages in Google Analytics, It gives you a more interesting information than, IMHO, Google WBT itself, because those pages are the pages that actually are indexed and because of that receive traffic. DGgud.jpg

  • He is an example of someone who by providing useful information and actionable insight for free to others in the field has gained a lot of "fans". I follow him on Twitter and he doesn't just share the links that every other SEO is retweeting he also comments about his own experiences with clients and their sites. He also likes a good SEO rant which can be entertaining to read.

  • I am doing my best here Marc but I am not entirely clear on what information I can share that has not already been provided in this Q&A. Google crawls the web and adds web pages to its index. When a user performs a search query, Google then offers the "best" result based on numerous factors such as relevancy, quality factors, trust factors, importance of page, etc. There are over 200 metrics which are evaluated to determine ranking. One of those factors is the title. If a title exactly matches the searcher's query, then the ranking will benefit from that match as Google sees the page as more likely to be relevant. Does that help? If not, first try reading the following article: http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/title-tag. If you still desire help, please let me know exactly what information I can share that will assist you.

  • I have done this article and have taken on board what has been said but what i am doing is trying four different ways. so on this one i have got rid of the adverts at the top and sorted out the side but i have included in the body of the article google adsense. i will do another article and move any adverts to the bottom right. and then i can compare them all. here is the content. http://www.in2town.co.uk/Top-Celeb-News/Kerry-Katona-Homeless-Shock

  • Hi Diane, based on your initial questions and sub-questions, I would recommend you to: a) prepare a comprehensive 6 or 12 month Internet marketing and/or SEO plan. b) get help on executing the plan if needed. Without taking a comprehensive (big picture) look at your online strategy, your success will be very limited. I'm afraid that your questions may be very narrow and you may be missing the big SEO picture (example: concentrating on 1 keyword too much) I hope this helps. Best, Ogy

  • You do want to set up the 301 redirect. Ideally, you want one and only one URL for each of your pages.

  • You may also want to consider using a hosting service with a Content Delivery Network (CDN). This simultaneously has your content on multiple servers in various locations close to your visitors. It then servers up the the site using the server closest to your visitor causing it to load faster. It is becoming more popular to provide users with a better experience.

  • this is why I'm glad EGOL is around when I'm not.  Not only does he really know what he's doing from an SEO perspective, he runs his own site - proof from real world stuff. Myopic SEO says "how little can I get away with".  Sustainable SEO says "What can I do to eventually dominate in this niche, and not have to play the games other sites do." 100 words?  Sorry - My recommendation to clients is 400 words on category pages, 1000 on information pages. 400 too much for you to swallow?  Start with 200 each.  Do other best practices SEO tasking - if you still find you're not getting the visits and conversions you want, write more high quality content.

  • Could you please send this to help@seomoz.org? They'll get right on that and give you a response that way. I have asked them to pop over here and make a comment if there is a general problem with the API that might affect other people, but the help email is the best way to take care of this. Thanks so much!
