I use FoxyCart on one of my WP sites. It has its flaws, but happy to discuss with you my experiences and lend a hand if that one looks like it meets any of your needs. There are some videos out there on it I know.

Using overlay content on landing pages - possible? recommended?
We have implemented something similar in the past with no negative effects. Same deal with tabbed content. If this type of display is convenient for the user and not only served to search engines then you're within the search engine guidelines. Even if you do get in trouble (very unlikely) there is always a re-inclusion request in which you can explain things to Google. One thing to keep in mind is Google's cloaking filter they've been writing about this recently as they start to compare what is displayed to them to what user would see. I cannot know exactly to what extent the site may vary in appearance with your overlay feature. Hidden Text? Part of the game or a major faux pas?
Major No-No. Most likely they will eventually be found out and knocked down. It is painful to wait for that day to occur, I know. Just write more and better content

What is the best wording you have seen in an outreach email?
My most successful emails have consisted of the following Ego-Stroking: Make them feel like they are important and valuable WIFM: People want to know what are they getting first before you can really grab their attention and negotiate a link/social mention/interview/ etc. Personalized: Obviously don't be a robot and try to be genuine. Also when contacting other webmasters/bloggers try to find out what kind of person they are, meaning are they humorous, boring, academic, liberal, etc. The reason why is because people enjoy like minded individuals, so if you find a webmaster/blogger that tries to be funny in their blog posts than try to add some kind of humor in your email outreach. This might sound like a sketchy method, but I have seen some good results out of trying to personalize my emails to match the webmasters/bloggers personality.

Multiple Google Places Listings?
Yah it says it right here. Thanks. I must've missed it when I was reading it earlier: You may create one listing per practitioner, and one listing for the office.

Tags to index or to no index that is the Question
If your tag pages are offering up some fresh content... either by their presentation that will get around duplicate content issues or fresh content of value to your visitors, then you should go ahead and leave them as indexable. If not, and you're in a fully-automatic mode with your template, I would suggest "noindex, follow" to provide more internal connections and to keep the link juice flowing

Trying to understand how a website is getting higher than me with less links
I was thinking of the same exact page to post in reply when I scrolled down to find that you'd already posted it. This is dead on. I absolutely can't wait for search engines to stop placing so much emphasis on domain keywords. I can't tell you how many times I get the dead fish stare from a client when they learn that their business name that they've had for 25 years is NOT the best domain name for their business website.

How to find pages hardest hit
I always look for patterns - if I examine X pages and see similar issues, that's a sign that it's a systemic problem. If you are not familiar enough with your own site to know this already, my best recommendation is to take the time to look. Learn your own site. It is very time consuming yet worth every minute.

Alt and Title Attributes in Anchor Tags
That was a good catch Alan and Ryan, I just looked at the Alt and Title and did not even notice the example used them in an anchor. Doh! I would only ever use them in images. Since I develop on the Microsoft platfrom using it anywhere other than img flags a syntax error.
