Blocking other engines in robots.txt
I don't see any benefit to blocking search engines with robots.txt with the exception of Bing or Google as necessary. Robots.txt is strictly a suggestion to those crawlers who care enough to respect your wishes. The only benefit it can offer is IF a crawler chooses to respect your wishes, then your site will have a bit less traffic volume during the crawl. The reality is any specific crawler from one of the many random companies is going to visit so infrequently it wont make any noticeable difference.

SEO Considerations for a Platform Change
I'd say to start with an excel spreadsheet and then copy them all over in one big batch. You're probably going to need some coffee. At the very least, you should keep the redirects there for 6 months. If you drop the 301's then you also lose the inbound links, so it's best to keep them there as long as possible.

Yellow Ratings Stars in the Google SERPs
Hi Remus, I know you guys have closed this question a while ago, but I really hope you can help me out with this. Our company is called theprintspace (www.theprintspace.co.uk) and we provide pro printing services for photographers (photographers comes to us with their images on a disc/order online and we print them out on professional photographic and fine art papers). We are technically more of a service. I really want to list us on the Product Search because I want the seller rating extensions - however it seems this is more tailored to products, and not services. Do you have any advice how I could do this, and if not through Product Search is there any other way to get the Seller Ratings Extensions?? Many thanks in advance!

Linkbuilding from sites with lower Domain Authority and Page Rank than mine?
Sorry, I meant my site has PR4 DA43. The sites in question have very low PR/DA scores of PR1 & DA under 20. Still worth getting links from these sites?

Duplicate content for manually setup blog and wordpress blog
Hi Vizion SEO. How come on a word press the same content on ... does not flag duplicate content? Why do you believe it does not? Clearly it is duplicate content. When Google finds duplicate content within a site, they take their best guess to determine which page is the primary version for a given search, and they offer that URL in SERPs. There is not a "penalty" per se, although many people refer to it as such. Sometimes the page Google shows is not the page you wish to appear, and some may interpret that as a penalty. Also, your link juice would be divided amongst the various versions of the URLs rather then consolidated so that can be perceived as a penalty as well. It is common for a home page to contain snippets of articles. That is what is happening on the vizionseo.com/blog page. It contains part of articles, and then you can click through to view the entire article. If you have a rather short article, then you can duplicate most of it's contents. This is normally not an issue as the home page, or main blog page in this case, has plenty of other content. I will also point out you do have an issue on your site. http://www.vizionseo.com/blog/2011/05/how-can-your-business-rank-high-on-google-maps/ http://www.vizionseo.com/blog/2011/05/how-can-your-business-rank-high-on-google-maps Both the above URLs point to the same page. The second URL is missing the trailing slash. This issue should ideally be resolved with the correct entry in your htaccess file on your server, but it can also be resolved by adding the canonical meta tag to your page. Until it is corrected you have a second form of duplicate content on your site. http://www.homesupershops.com/blog and http://www.homesupershops.com/blog-july have same content. Will this flag duplicate content on Google? Your /blog page is duplicating both of the entire articles from July. Your navigation, footer and both side bars are identical also on the pages. Clearly only one of those pages would be listed. I would recommend reducing your /blog page coverage of articles to the first ?200 words or so. You can offer a teaser of the article with a "continue reading..." link.

About the rankings report in the Pro Dashboard, does it track the ranking of every page on a root domain, or just the home page or whichever page you set up the campaign with?
It will find any page on your domain that is ranking for the keyword..I think the exception may be finding pages that rank across different sub domains (dont quote me on that though!) For instance I have www.domainname.com set up under site definitions but the rank tracker is tracking my rank for pages like www.domainname.com/sub-page-that-ranks

Moving External TLD To Subfolder of Corporate Domain?
The page views and time on site information will be of limited benefit since most of the pages involved wont be viewable to Google since they are behind a login filter. While many people believe that Google considers the factors you mention in their algorithms, I am not aware of any solid evidence or statements from Google confirming this information. In fact, Matt Cutts has specifically stated that no Google Analytics data is used in rankings at all. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgBw9tbAQhU It makes perfect sense to me the factors you mention can be considered as part of the ranking process. I am sure many other SEOs believe they are as well. I would love to see any evidence to this effect. I think most people make this assumption. With the above understood, if you felt the move was a low level of effort, I would probably go ahead with the change. It sounds like it can be a bit nicer for employees to stay on the same site. If this was considered a big project, I would not make the move without solid evidence you will achieve the benefits you desire.
