Re Opening Question......Strange Visitors To Website
I honestly don't think you are going to be able to do anything about the links created, unless you manually contact the owner of the sites involved. Out of interest, did you LinkBuilder provide you with a spreadsheet of work completed? If so they may have included URLs, IDs and Passwords so that you can be back in and remove the bad links....which I assume are profile links. Just keep building good links, and these bad ones will fall into insignificance.

Optimising My Website Link Containers
Hi there a quick reply from me 1: if I were you I would make my links in text and not in images. If you do have to add images avoid names such as read more. There are Java Script tricks you could use if you must have images. Such as replacing text with an image on "dom ready" there is no reason to show google an image if it's only a "read more" button anyhow. 2: If I make a list of links, make it a list, don't do divs if a list makes more sence eg: link 1 link 2 link 3 3: Since speed matters: If you can avoid images do it. If not; Use CSS sprites and the background property. If You must use img tags, always add a height and a width, that way the browser won't have to read the image size and the page will render quicker.

Best Way to change domain name
Antony, If your site structure is to remain the same use Google's Step by Step Guide to Migrating a Domain Google recommends redirecting all pages. After you follow Google's suggestions on the move there are things you can do to speed this up. Tweet every URL on your new site that you want indexed. Check the site: indexation for inclusion of the new pages and don't forget the sitemap and Google Webmaster Tools for your URL preference.

Multiple Anchor text Links to 1 Page
There is no SEO benefit to have multiple internal links on a single page which have the same target page. When Google crawls your site, they will take the first link they find and associate the anchor text they find with that link. Any other links to the same page would be disregarded. If we were to change the top nav to be "Gift Vouchers" & "Gift Cards" as different tabs, both linking to the same page, what might be the SEO consequences? Presently the value of your link's weight is given to the phrase "Gift Vouchers & Gift Cards". If you make the split and Google sees the "Gift Cards" link first, then your page will be seen as more relevant to "Gift Cards" and less relevant to "Gift Vouchers".

Old pages still crawled by SE returning 404s. Better to put 301 or block with robots.txt ?
Hi Matteo. The first step I would suggest is determining the source of the links to these 404 pages. If these links are internal to your website, they should be removed or updated. The next step I would recommend is to ensure your site has a helpful 404 page. The page should offer your site's navigation along with a search function so users can locate relevant content on your site. I realize that thousands of broken links may seem overwhelming. It is a mess which should be cleaned up. How you proceed is dependent upon how much you value SEO. If your ranking is important and you want to be the best, you will have someone investigate every link and make the appropriate adjustments such as 301 redirecting them to the most appropriate page on your site, or allowing the link to continue to the 404 page. It's a search engine's job to help users find content. 404s are a natural part of the web. There is nothing inherently wrong with having some 404 pages. Having thousands of pages really shows your site has significant issues. Google's algorithms are not revealed publicly but it's logical to believe they may consider sites with a high percentage of 404 pages less trustworthy. This is my belief but not necessarily that of the SEO community.

How to target very broad, umbrella keywords on the homepage
Fair point. I will try and do a quick bit of keyword research later as it may be useful to get an outsiders perspective.

On-Page Question
If you are trying to make more content, always think of the end user first. If you are doing a history, make something unique like a timeline in an image. That is what SEOmoz does. I used to copy and paste many years ago, but whenever I write original content, I get results. My recommendations are: copy the content into notepad & rewrite it yourself OR 100% original content,

Https and secure pages
Hi Tyler, It's a good thing to use the HTTPS version of the badge on your HTTPS pages because otherwise, the page would be reported as unsecure by the browser to the user. On the other hand, displaying HTTPS ressources on a HTTP page matters. Downloading and decrypting the secured ressources will use more bandwidth and CPU on the server and client side. In other words, HTTPS is slimply slower than HTTP so it will be detrimental to the user experience. The difference might not be signigicant, but it's always good to keep that in mind. So, I simply suggest you match the protocol of the ressources with the one of the requested URL. HTTPS with HTTPS and HTTP with HTTP. Best regards, Guillaume Voyer.
