  • You can download the Google Toolbar or get Google Chrome and get the Chrome SEO Add-On, both of which have excellent tools for determining a site's rank and what terms they're after.  Google Ad Planner also has some features in this regard.  Good luck!

  • Thanks, Malachi! I think the issue came about when we moved the site to the cloud. It looks like the old site was inadvertently moved too. Best, Lisa

  • EGOL - thanks for advice. Yes there are lots of ilinks between the domains. Although I also have clients who have done this deliberately for perceived gain, I think in this case the client has made an honest mistake by simply applying their CMS (with relative links) to each of the domains they thought they should purchase. It's confused a bit further by one section using https with an absolute domain so users can end up migrating from one domain to another and from http to https! As an SEO I also have inclination to 301 page-by-page to best ranking site. However, as I mentioned to Thomas (above) I think the client will probably want to go with their preferred domain and as such I'll 301 page-by-page to that one. I'll discuss with the client and post the outcome.

  • I don't think you'll get much benefit from just sending a tweet to all and say please RT this or put a link somewhere. In my experience, especially with Twitter it is better to build a good relationship first and then start asking for a link or a RT. If you want more social signals you're probably best offering unique content that people want to share and RT themselves. The only thing I think would do harm is sending the tweet out - I'd expect to see a huge drop in followers.

  • The part you asked about is great. I do notice some other URL issues you might want to take care of. The home link goes to http://www.highstreetvouchers.com/gift-vouchers/index (note the index at the end), so you have a duplicate there. Your special occasions link has a .jsp at the end, where most of your URLs don't have the .jsp. I do see some pages that are duplicates and show both with and without the .jsp.

  • Hi Maria, Your menu is not optimized, but the real problem is not coming from there. Your home http://www.medixschool.ca/ has a meta refresh leading to http://www.medixschool.ca/Home/index.php instead of a 301 redirect. You should remove this meta refresh and replace it by a 301 redirection. Best regards, Guillaume Voyer.

  • Another thing that has occurred to me with this - it's not so much whether the links are passing value / negative value, but more that the anchor text is telling the search engines that our site may be a place to buy viagra, vicodin etc - and surely that's never a good thing?

  • This is not a very good practice I'll tell you, hshshs, but they have. What you need to do, after registering the domain, make a page is fully optimized for the same keyword field. Optimize the title, headings, content, images, etc.. After the page to start earning position, maybe you have to win some links too. Only after she earns a good position, you wait a few weeks and makes the 301 redirect. Your site takes the position that page for that keyword. In the experiments I did, most sites have not lost the position. But some werelost over time, but still worth it. If only register the domain and do the redirection at the same time, will not haveany advantage and the possibility of the search engines interpret that is amanipulation is greater. I hope it helped

  • AUguides.com would probably be the best one of of the available you've listed.  i'd avoid anything with two letters together a la venueexplorer.com  that being said the trends right now are for short unique bit.ly bizzy.com etc.  you might go back to the drawing board but I dont see anything wrong with AUguides.com  if you brand it correctly you could have something special .

  • I've got the same issue. I have a lot of links on my site and I was trying to see if adding title="something" for each link will help or not. We could always try it and see what happens. I don't see a reason why if they were added in it could cause an issue with the search engines. However if anyone has more experience on this I'd love to hear about it.

  • Think of URLs are formed in the following pattern: AAA.BBB.CCC.DDD When you see you URL as 100.200.222.050 then your C block is "222". Each domain company usually is assigned 1 C block for all their servers. So yes, you would need to use a different company for your second site.

  • 1 At the top end you have research guys like Forrester research, Boston consulting group or even Econsultancy's paid reports. 2 Banks like Merrill Lynch  & Capgemini publish the yearly World's Wealth Report and in general banks have a high output of financial and commercial papers. 3 Doing Google searches like japan report inurl:.pdf can provide a lot of papers on a topic. 4 Mendeley.com is a good place for finding scientific papers and connecting directly with scientists if you want a quote or specialist research done 5 Roll your own report with a surveymonkey survey I could go on all day talking about data sources, but without knowing what you need its not much use - the data source is dependent on the project, there is no one place to go S
