Shareaholic and Social Warfare (paid) plugins are the ones I'm familiar with, Sameer. There is also a paid add-on for Sassy Social Share plugin that will accomplish this too. Others may have also added this capability. P.

Photos or Video Best for Landing Pages?
Something to consider regarding how you're measuring the traffic to the page... Do you have tracking of actual interaction with the video in place? (e.g. Play click, length of video viewed, where they stop?) I ask because we need to remember - Google Analytics by default counts a bounce visit as zero seconds, regardless of how long the visitor actually stayed on the page. This is especially important for landing pages. And what is the call to action on the page? Unless the CTA entails a second interactive hit to Google Analytics (like a second pageview), even successful page visits will be tracked as zero-second bounces. All this is to mean - the time on page being so low doesn't necessarily mean the video isn't being watched. It might, but you need other tracking to know for sure. And you do need to know in case it's not a problem that the video isn't being watched, but instead the video is being watched but isn't persuasive enough.

How long does it take for canonical tags to work
Assuming Google crawls the page, how long do you think it will take before we know whether Google is following canonical tags? By follow I mean whether they are following the signal and ranking the canonical link.

New page disappeared from the ranks, under dubious circumstances
Hi seoman10, This is not odd. Give it a few days in order to rank for some keywords. I'd say a week as a prudent amount of time. Hope i've helped. Best luck. GR.

If I'm using a compressed sitemap (sitemap.xml.gz) that's the URL that gets submitted to webmaster tools, correct?
Good Choice. The XML Sitemap spec has specific maximum sizes for individual sitemaps, but they are specified sizes before compression, so compression doesn't get you around the size limitations anyway P.

What happens when we delete all the outgoing links from a forum at once?
I believe that if these links are "nofollow" that changing them will have no direct impact on your status with Google or your rankings. Deleting them will make forum members who don't understand "nofollow" really angry with you. They might also decide not to spam your site, which will be good for your forum in many ways. You might also lose some nonspammers who don't understand and leave. Good luck.

Why doesn't the Keyword Explorer "Explore By Site" work?
Hi Maureen, I'm sorry to hear - There must of been some kind of error as we normally respond within 24hrs. The last message sent from your @insight email seems to of been 8 months ago. If you head into any page of your Campaigns, you should be able to see a little blue chat bubble in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. If you click on that, you will be able to set up a new help ticket.

Organic search traffic has dropped by 35% since 18 September, we don't know why.
thanks Donna, much appreciated. We're having a meeting about it on Wednesday with developers and marketing. We know the site is slow, we're working on a new back end to the site that will increase speed significantly, but it's still 6 months away. I think it will need to be brought up in the Wednesday meeting. The one caveat is that the site as always been slow (even slower!). Maybe google have lost patience.

Migration developer question
Nope - as long as the DNS resolves to the website properly, doesn't matter whether it's via A Record or Cname. Many hosts are doing this now so that the DNS isn't dependent on the IP address in case the host needs to change that for emergency, security, or server change reasons. Paul

Dual website strategy
Thanks Nigel for your very generous response and thanks Egol for your confirmation as well. We do have a small team and we are not dominating rankings in our sector yet, so your point is well made. From what you are saying, it seems there are no technical limitations in terms of search engines penalising the under performing site (originally it was a copy of the main site). It seems to come down purely to a well constructed, designed and marketed site. So thanks again for your really wise words - it has been an enormous help Marc

Business located inside hotel showing as "Duplicate"
This is correct. Also it will be important that the bar is listed completely independent from the hotel name, just as if it was in its own building across the street. The directories we submit do not support containing location identifiers. How it is currently listed on Google as no impact as long as the business name and local phone number is unique. Hope this helps!
