Axial Dev, Thanks for responding I have considered the Robots disallow however my worry has been several Videos by Matt Cutts talking about how now that the Google Bot can make AJAX requests that the best practice is to allow it to do so. So that is why I have not thrown on all around disallow addition to our robots.txt file, but It is clearly having issues on our site distinguishing the difference between a server side AJAX request on our site vs an actual real URL that should be indexed Below is Matt Cutts plea to allow Java script to be allowed to be crawled there are a few others out there as well. Does anyone else have experience with AJAX server side requests being indexed and how they combated the issue? watch?v=B9BWbruCiDc

We have had over 9k new backlinks shown daily on majestic as of late...I notice many site wides, and then some that are relevant. I can't see google expecting us to manually review them all!

Thanks all for your responses on this. I do have Screaming Frog but not the paid version. However, my need was fairly simple in that a client asked us to remove all references from their website to a location of one of their offices that they had now shut. So nothing black hat or detailed required. Rather I was just looking for a tool that would do a simple yet comprehensive search of their site so I could make sure we have removed all references. OSE crawls a different number of domains/pages with each update. It is normal to see fluctuations in all of these metrics for for links to appear/disappear in OSE reports. OSE and Linkscape data is an extremely valuable for gauging site/page strength, as well as a healthy amount of backlinks to a given page. I do not think it is a great tool to use for benchmarking your site authority or backlink profile growth, due to the inconsistencies between their indexes (or is it indices). If you are tracking competitors with it, you will likely see similar fluctuations in there data as well.

Hi James While I fully disclose I'm not intimately familiar with the ins and outs of responsive, I do believe that instead of CSS hiding/showing the same links but having them repeated three times in the HTML, ideally the links would be in the HTML once, and CSS would take care of just restyling them based upon the screen size. But with that said, Google does not mind so much about the "too many links on a page" situation. They are good enough now to likely figure out what is going on with your menu, and will try to take that into account when assessing the page, and when assigning PageRank through each link. So while it would be 100% perfect to not repeat every link it's still something that's not going to be detrimental if you had to leave it that way. The only exception to that I think, would be if this is a super large site (like 100,000+ pages) but I don't get the impression this site is quite that big -Dan

Hey Ruben, I'm really sorry for misunderstanding your question. You should definitely be able to edit your custom URL on the profile. Are you getting an error message when you try to edit the URL? If you can tell me what the URL is that you are trying to edit and what you are trying to change the URL to, I can look into what may be the issue. Chiaryn

To be honest, the only way I judge directories today is by how much referral traffic they might bring. In the past 2 years we've seen Google get tighter and tighter on link directories, and if you're going after a link purely for the "juice" than I would consider that highly suspect in Google's eyes. On the other hand, standards are different for local and niche specific directories, as they might more endorsement and local citations are considered the #1 local ranking factor. At the end of the day I doubt very much a link from the Yahoo directory will hurt, but I would also be equally surprised if it helped much.
