  • Find your true competitors, then use SEM rush and see if that helps. Also everything is relative, so if moz says its medium competition and there's no one searching for it the reality is that it's probably not that hard to rank for it.

  • Hi Bob, Yes, I think your suggested order of operations would be fine. You'll have to keep double-checking the Google listing to be sure it isn't reverting to old data or getting duplicated while you work on cleaning up the other citations. Good that you are setting the client's expectations correctly from the get-go. So important. Good luck!

  • I'm not sure if I found the root cause of my problem... so let me ask you all if you have heard it before: After change my website to include the Moz improvement suggestions, I logged in Google Webmaster Tools and ran "Fetch as Google" option and then submitted to index. But, after 5 or 10 minutes, I discovered a small problem on my page and, after fix it, I ran the "Fetch as Google" again and submitted to index. Probably Google interpreted this two submissions as a "Black SEO" and punished my website? Btw, according to Moz Rank Tracker, I'm the 5th result for the keyword I want. Thank you all in advance. Best regards

  • Hey Scott, Thanks for the question. Can you do me a favor and send over the information you're trying to enter to help@moz.com. I've not had any other reports of this so we'll definitely want to investigate this for you. As far as creating a campaign in Pro, I would advise against that. Typically when the campaign can't be created in Analytics it's because of some sort of a conflict or deeper issue that should be addressed. Thanks! Joel.

  • Hello Holger, I ran into a similar issue when I wanted to only track www.mysite.com and not mysite.com Here is what I remember the Moz Help folks telling me is the way to do it, converted to your examples.... Set up three separate campaigns. One each for mysite.com.br , en.mysite.com.br , es.mysite.com.br  AND when doing so select the button to "Only track this subdomain" (or some phrase like that) for each campaign. You will not be able to change the old campaigns (the ones with the options greyed out) to the new settings. So you will need to either archive or delete them.

  • Think about your overall domain authority and how you can increase it. Also, continue to invest time on how to build more content / articles that these profiles get internal links from. Are these articles contributed by the users ? How many profiles are you talking about ? What more can you do to get internal and to the profile pages as well as the article pages ?

  • Thanks! I Guess getting more backlinks is the ones I am missing. Anyway I Thought the Open Site Explorer was checking backlinks and taking this into account for total score. So when I score higher than many pages, this should be taken into account. Still I am way below these pages. My page now moved 5 pages up on google since I posted this post. I wish I would have any answers on why it was so low rated and why it suddenly move 5 pages. If someone could show me any tools for this it would be great! Also I dont see any improvement list for my page in my right hand column of the On page grader. How should I get this ? The only thing that I see is default suggestions below the grading on how to improve a page, or any site.

  • Hi Peter, Many thanks for your thoughts and taking the time to answer. Yes I have been trying to add richer content on my most popular local pages although it can be quite difficult when you have 90 odd locations , so I've done the top 25-40 depending on the category and I will remove some of the lesser popular locations for now to decrease duplicate/thin content ratio. I agree , that the citations would be the way forward. I have started doing these as well for at least 20 locations although some don't have a link back to my local page but I believe that google is really looking for the NAP as a way of local verification as opposed to a link. Good point regarding the .com and co.uk. These mainly go to my home page but I am looking ay my competitors, their ratio is better than mine so I will try to improve this also. Thanks for the Miriam Ellis Article - I will study this in details. First impressions , it does look very good and has some great pointers. One again Many thanks Sarah
