  • Hi Dina, Federico is correct, Moz Analytics will flag any duplicate content issues it finds on your site. While it is impossible to prevent creating duplicate content altogether on a smaller Wordpress site that contains tag, category, and archive pages, the easiest way to prevent duplicate content issues is to follow Federico's recommendations (not because these pages are not useful to your users, but because they can create duplicate content). I would also make sure that you only include excerpts of your blog posts on the front pay of the blog (vs. the full posts), and take care that pagination does not create duplicate content issues for you as well. While no-indexing paginated pages is not the ideal method for preventing duplicate content issues (in my opinion), it is the easiest for many people. (You can read about alternative ways to handle pagination here.) Finally, it sounds like you are not offering any of the brand's own products and services on the blog. If this is the case, I would make the blog's home page the front page (that is, the home page for the website.) I hope that helps! Thanks, Christy

  • Subdomains are basically different domains, so if your competitor does it a lot, and they interlink all those pages, they could even get a penalty. If you use subfolders, all the link juice you get to any page will affect the entire site, as opposed to subdomains, where each backlink affects the subdomain itself, and therefore the main domain gets less juice. Both are possible and accepted, but if you ask me, I would go with the sub-folders instead.

  • I agree with Arjen, onsite SEO is going to improve your rankings for the keywords that matter. Your main keyword "Name Necklace" doesn't really appear on the homepage as a keyword for that page. It is the anchor text to your category page of Name Necklaces, plus that page has it as the page title which is why Google thinks it should be indexed for that keyword. Another thing I noticed, your canonical tag has the O capitalized and your URL does not. Make sure you keep this consistent as the SE's will think this is a different URL.

  • Actually I am not targeting Iran. My main market is the US and Canada but here are people who like to use a Farsi portal. So what I am planning to do is to have my English website(Primary one) like abc.com/lang:eng and then add a sub-directory for Farsi like abc.com/lang:far for the times users choose to switch the language to Farsi. Then I can use specific Farsi meta titles and description for my Farsi version of the website which obviously would be totally different than my English version. It is in a way the same way as the reference website you mentioned is doing.

  • I would definitely recommend to keep your shopping cart out of the SERPs. I would not recommend to use nofollow to try to achieve this goal. In a recent video  Google's head of webspam, Matt Cutts, explains why using nofollow only really works for external links. It is probably best to no-index shopping cart page your in robot.txt or in the HTML of the page itself.

  • Moz shows here: keyword 1 - keyword 2 | branding That's kind of what Andy did, but with more of a phrase or description over plain keywords. My only question left is, should I lean towards a sentence like that instead of listing keyword 1 - keyword 2 | branding like keyword 1 -  and keyword 2 in a phrase | branding (like Andy did) in light of future updates?

  • In my limited experience, 301's will redirect +1's, as Arjen said. For example, this page http://moz.com/blog/how-to-rank gained most of it's +1's before a 301 redirect, and those plus 1's are now associated with the page.

  • Something like that happened to me and, i installed the OSE Firewall http://wordpress.org/plugins/ose-firewall/ It worked better than Sucuri wich is payed, although in Sucuri they give help to you. Also try to speak with your server, they can help you find strange files and do a check up on server and database.

  • Hi Shailendra, It sounds like your off to a pretty good start, but there are a couple other things you should consider including. KEI and KOI might give you a rough idea of the competition, but they don't really tell you how difficult it will be to rank for those keywords. I'd run your keywords through Moz's Keyword Difficulty Tool which gives each keyword a score between 1 and 100 based on the Page Authority and Domain Authority of the top ten results. Using this tool can help you weed out keywords that your site simply isn't strong enough to compete on. Another option (if you have a little money to spend) is to run a small AdWords campaign and see which keywords have the highest conversion rate. This will help you identify keywords that don't necessarily have a ton of monthly searches but can help your website reach its ultimate goals. Hope this helps! Tim

  • Great suggestions above. I have many legal clients in all of your practice areas so this is hitting close to home and i think you could improve in so many ways. One suggestion below. Show some indicators on your home page via an in-content internal link to the PI page you mentioned . Also you have two pages competing for the personal injury keyword. Choose one page to target the personal injury keyword. Choose one page and add your office locations to the footer. Maybe optimize your image  name http://www.kempruge.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/90201067_8.jpg but do not over optimize. You could also benefit from some additional link building to the page you want to rank.
