      Hi all,

Generally, what would be best when building a website's ranking through link building? Having the same links from the same bloggers or receiving new links from different bloggers every time?

A lot of the SEO services offer 4-8 blog backlinks per month. Would it be best if these links came from different sources every time or most from the same sources each month?

I know there's a lot of factors but I hope this question is clear.

Happy holidays and thank you for your insightful feedback.

      Carlos

        Hi Carlos,

The best backlinks come from High Domain Authority sources with relevant content.  So if you sell watches, backlinks from a reputable watch company or blog with high DA would be best but links from a car company would mean less.  Basically you want the backlinks with the highest DA and relevant anchor text/content.  Multiple sources also mean more than multiple links from a single source.  While both are helpful, links from multiple sources is a signal to google and other engines that you're the talk of the town.

        Best of luck,

        -Nick

          Hi Nick,

Thank you for your response. Yes, I agree that the more relevant and high DA, the better.

I heard a lot of companies having public relationships where the bloggers blog about the company periodically. I am wondering on the best resource allocation practice as far as public relationship come along. Is it better to spend time building relationship with the bloggers that already blog about you or try to find new ones (increase multiple sources like you say)?

Please keep in mind that this question applies with relevancy and domain authority being the same across the board, theoretically.

          Regards,

          Carlos

            Carlos,

I'm not sure how every search engine handles it but google definitely tracks the root domain.  So to answer your question, links from different blogs or root domains would count more than multiple links from the same root domain.

Thanks for letting me know that Nick,

What would you say would be the ideal scenario in this situation as far as a percentage of backlinks received from the same sources VS new sources? i.e..best practice = 80% new sources, 50% new sources, or 20% new sources with the rest coming from the already established (back-linked) sources?

              Carlos

                Carlos,

The best ratio would be as many different high DA sources as possible.  The first link from a new domain counts much more than subsequent ones.  Google doesn't seem to care as much about repeat links as new sources.  So ideally you would have backlinks from a bunch of high ranking root domains.  Multiple links do still count though, so don't totally abandon multiple links from the same source.  I personally believe building rapport with good sources is a nice bonus that can pay-off in spades down the road.

I saw in your original post that you were talking about pay for backlink services.  Just be careful that they are giving you quality links that are relevant to your content.  And obviously be careful that they aren't doing anything to violate googles terms of service.  Those types of services can come back to bite you later.

                -N
