Thanks Marie. Sorry, yes, by "take effect", I meant see better results in the SERPS. I understand that I have been affected by Penguin (I had an audit carried out by Paul Macnamara, who you referred me onto.  He was great, BTW). So I guess it's just a waiting game.  I'm crossing my fingers very tightly! From Paul's audit, I do have a good base of links, and I am continuing to build them.  Also, for many keywords, the site actually ranked higher before any link building was ever done by the bad SEO company.  With these things in mind, I'm really, really, really hoping that my fortunes will change on the next Penguin refresh - whenever that might be!!  Will be very disappointed if not.  SUCH a frustrating thing as it feels very much out of my control. Do make sure you use the canonical URL in your links, however. You don't want to be linking to several different versions of the same URL.

Hi Ricky, Thanks for the question! Adding goals from GA has always been something we intend to do at some point.  We just need to figure out a way to do it that doesn't duplicate GA and adds some extra data or value. Would we ever add CRO functionality? Maybe one day, but for now we are focused on the top of the funnel - for example I don't see us adding Moz javascript snippets to the page any time soon to track user behaviour. What would you find useful? Where are your pain points around measuring conversion? Thanks, Jon

I had a problem with Google Places a while back, I ended up calling them and they were actually really helpful. UK number 0800 169 0409 Sounds like your problem may now be fixed, if not hope this helps!

Both should happen. You should design your coming soon page in a way that allows visitors to visit the AU version meanwhile. Perhaps even adding a newsletter sign up form... If you are already getting links, then Google is already aware of your site. They were probably not indexing the AU version as you were forcing them to go the US, which is an "under construction" page.

An objective based resumé should be for someone just graduating or early in their career. Change that top part to be skills based. 'Bob is a fast learner' - don't talk about yourself in the third person. Don't say it's been a long time since you used PHP and MySQL. I'm sure you could brush up on it pretty quickly if you needed to. Don't include 'references available upon request'. If they want them, they'll ask for them.

Thank you both for your answers. I am still not sure, so let me add a little context: the NYTimes mentions and links to my company. In our blog we could reference the article and the point that is made could be valuable to our visitors. Is there a value to linking to that page? The idea of rel="nofollow" tells me there is, but I am not sure. Ultimately, I agree. Our focus should be value to our customers. But, I would be remiss to not try and take advantage of such a valuable mention. Thank you again!
