Use Firefox and access it.  I had this same issue a few months back and it was something to do with a glitch in the system and an update to FF and IE. Once logged in try going to this link  http://analytics.moz.com/manage-campaigns it's a work around for the time being. And make sure to Contact support help@moz.com and relay your issues.

Shawn is correct. Domian tools will give you a great history plus info on the current owners other domains.

I have a suggestion, but please do your own research to verify this... My understanding is that you can set up a block of text on your site that is not visible until a visitor does something like clicks a tab or does a mouseover, and if you use the CSS command display:none; to make it invisible, that text will not be read by the major search  engines. That text can get displayed when the visitor clicks the tab or does a mouseover by having the CSS command switch to display:block; (or some other version of display). I think this is because a spider can't activate the tab or mouseover function. I've read this a few places and avoid doing display:none; on valuable content for this reason (better safe than sorry). But I have not read about someone using it to purposely hide content to prevent duplication issues or dilution of keyword density. It could verified with a pretty easy test. Just add some gibberish content to an existing page,  but hide it using display:none;  Then use GWT to ask for a recrawl, wait a few days, and do a search for the gibberish content. If it doesn't show up in the results, that is a good sign it worked. Let us know if you test it....

The .edu TLD is only available to institutions in the US. Further, it's limited to US-affiliated higher education institutions. So if your client were to purchase a .edu domain then anybody coming to the site would expect them to be US-based. But different countries do have their own education-related second-level .ac domains. So here in the UK ours is -surprise, surprise - .ac.uk. I've not seen any recent correlation data on whether having a .edu will improve rankings. I know there has been a lot of talk over the last few years about .edu/.ac and .org domains being inherently "more trustworthy" than other domain types, but my personal opinion is that's confusing correlation and causation:  trustworthy institutions usually have .edu domains, it isn't the domain making them trustworthy. So changing to a .edu domain almost definitely won't help your rankings. It especially won't help your domain authority because this metric is concerned with measuring a range of things that you won't be changing, like your link profile.. Thinking about it, if changing to  a .edu domain were to help your rankings in the US because that's a primarily US TLD then that same logic say that change would also harm rankings in your client's home country, which they definitely won't want!

Branding and visibility issues aside, from a pure link standpoint those links don't count (or shouldn't per Google).  Google wants affiliate links to be nofollow since they're advertorial (Matt Cutts on the matter - <a>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SmlsfSqmOw</a>).  Cutts also says affiliate links should be disclosed adequately.  Now on the other hand, you're right that these links are benefiting a company that has these relationships set up.  I'm sure they're getting visibility, traffic, and ultimately sales.

Your first link didn't work. Links from these shallow sites probably won't help much for passing link juice (low authority presumably) but if they're getting traffic then you might want those visitors to see your flagship brand where you have the bulk of your content.  In that case, it would benefit the visitor and therefore would be worth doing. As always be careful with linking to your flag ship site if the shallow sites are linked to by spammy sites.  It seems to already doing pretty well so taking chances for minimal benefit probably wouldn't be worth it.

Make sure you disavow the right links. if it's done wrong your website will never recover. other good things your can do is get fresh links, new links from other sources. depending on how much time you've got you could recover.
