Moz is giving me an error message and I cannot add new campaigns
Thanks for the feedback Ryan. Right now, the health.moz.com site is the easiest way for us to notify people of problems like this, as it is a tumblr site that several people at Moz have access to and can be easily updated. Putting a message in the Moz app itself is a bit more complicated process, and involves changing code. We do try to put messages there when it's a longer outage, but it's not something that we can just put in in 30 seconds in the middle of the night (like we can with health.moz.com).

Moz Crawl Report showing non-existent Duplicate Errors since new reporting layout
Hey Patricia, Thanks for writing in and sorry that you are seeing strange data in your crawl diagnostics. We haven't made any changes that would affect the crawl in the way you are describing, so we will definitely need to look into this further. I am going to create a ticket in our email system so that I can get a few specific examples for you and investigate more directly. You should be receiving an email from me shortly and you can reply directly there. Chiaryn

Blocked URL parameters can still be crawled and indexed by google?
If you want to permanently remove URLs from the index, this is the basic process: Have your developer implement NoIndex, Follow to all pages that have the URL parameter you want removed. For example, if the URL contains categoryFilter= (like above), then add the NoIndex, Follow tag to the of the page. Do this for all URL paramters you want removed from the index. Make sure Google is allowed to crawl those pages. If they are blocked by robots.txt or told not to crawl them via Google Webmaster Tools, Google will not be able to see the newly implement NoIndex, Follow tag. Then, give it some time and wait. It may take Google a long time to crawl all of these paramtered URLs again. Fallout of the index might be slow. Once the URLs are gone, consider blocking the crawling of them via robots.txt or in GWT parameter handling.

Content Discovery Plaftorms; like Outbrain or Taboola
I am not using them to attract traffic at this time and have not used them for that purpose in the past. I doubt that visitors from that channel will outperform visitors who arrive at my site after querying a search engine and finding my content or enter my site from links on social sites. For now, I am focused upon getting more content out that will pull in traffic at zero cost.

Paid links that are passing link equity from a blog?
Anthony, thanks so much for chiming in. My gut instinct is to agree with you. I think I'm going to sit on this one and think about it for a little bit. It will also give me some time to formulate the best approach if I do decide to ask him to change the links to "nofollow."

How to remove a former business location from Google Places?
Hi Blair, Funny, I recalled this question, too, but didn't realize it was yours I wish we could get an 'official word' from Google on this, because it's something the guidelines hint around but don't speak to directly. Have you ever posted this question in the Google And Your Business Forum, just to see if you get any feedback from the TCs there? Maybe even from a staffer? What's really important, I think, is the distinction between what Google's guidelines state about rental properties, etc., and the fact that a main office is being located on the property for several years. I mean, if it were a watch repair store that opened for several years and then closed, no one would fault them for having a G+ Local page, right? So, I think there is grey area here. You've been told by a Google rep not to do this, but I am truly curious as to the reasoning behind that individual's advice, and whether they could have been misinterpreting the guidelines. Blair, as this is a business model you deal with constantly, I'd suggest trying again to get feedback from a Google staffer on this, maybe via their forum. If that doesn't work, you might try contacting a TC, like Linda Buquet or Mike Blumenthal to see if they would consider writing about your topic ... because there just isn't a clear guideline for this, in my opinion, given the exact details of the business model.

Moving career site to new URL from main site. Will it hurt SEO for main page?
Anytime a website URL changes there is a large potential for harm. I would say that you can expect a significant drop in the near future after moving the site. Make sure the old URL has a permanent redirect 301. This tells Google (and others) that the website has been moved and it is a permanent move. SERPs won't update immediately, so this will help you funnel traffic to your new website address. In a perfect world, black-hats don't take expired domains with high DA and try to recreate the content to build up their affiliate marketing link strategies, but that's another topic.
