Using two 404 NOT FOUND pages
Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes for sure the response code will be 404 in the HTTP. I just was not sure whether two separate custom 404 not found pages was alright. Cheers

On Page Optimization and Page Grader in Moz Needs Some Fixes
Same same! The "automatic" grader makes a mess of an otherwise useful tool!!! Two options: you either allow us to remove once for all all the auto-rubish gradded pages once for all OR you allow us to filter said grades based upon the same filter we can use for tracking KWs... The reason is extremely simple! On all the pages that I push, I use a main KW and several, long tail / semantically close ones! Your stupid tool gets ALL the pages and create long lists of pages THAT I KNOW are not optimised for SEO YET ONES THAT STILL RANK as they are targeting long tail KWs! Hence a rather large mess! Beyond me why this issue that is experienced by quite a few of us CAN'T BE SIMPLY SORTED! Almost a full year now since first post... Not impressed... Cdlt, G.

Should publish as page or blog posts on Wordpress ?
The navigation doesn't have so much to do with it being a page or a post. You can place any page in the menu by going to Appearance -> Menus and dragging and dropping. Google does not look at pages vs posts differently - it's generally a content-type decision, not so much an SEO decision. -Dan

Why can't the dates be changed in automatic reports?
Just wanted to agree with the above and say that the ability to schedule custom reports to run on a particular date per month is really important for us too. Cheers

Website completely disappeared from SERPS.
Has your traffic also dropped? Are you searching in an incognito browser, to try to minimize any personalization? Without knowing your URL, it's a little difficult to diagnose.

International Re-sellers Scrapping My Site Should I be Worried?
It's highly unlikely that someone using your content would outrank you for your own content in English in the US. It usually works the other way around - others are commonly filtered out in favor of the original publisher. You could, in theory, use hreflang tags. This isn't really the intended use, so I'm not sure what the results would be. In order for it to work, you'd both need to reference all the other versions of the page from every pageeither in a sitemap (better idea) or in the . E.g. you point to them as en-cn and they point to your page with en-us and en-ca. Unless you have some extraordinarily savvy partners, this is probably going to be a mess. Your partners can help avoid the mess above if they go into Webmaster Tools under "Search Traffic >> International Targeting" and choose a location they want to target. All of this is likely unnecessary if they have (for example) a .cn domain and you have a .com domain. Google will probably figure out the most relevant page to show on its own. That's what you're looking for, if I understand correctly. If you have US/CA partners, your options are more limited, and there's less room to mutually benefit. You can request they canonical back, but that completely eliminates their ranking ability. You could request a link, but even that request might not go over well. (I wouldn't do it) Amazon often outranks the original product sellers - and that's just the price you pay sometimes when you sell through others.

Better to use specific cities or counties for SEO geographics?
This is unscientific and based on the way I personally search, but I'd ask how people in the area refer to that area for some additional input. Here are some examples of the ways I have searched for locations in areas I've lived in (or had family live in). In the SF Bay Area, I used to live in Newark. There were about 30,000 people in the city, and it was surrounded by the SF Bay on one side, and Fremont on three other sides. I would verbally tell people in the region that I lived in Fremont, and I'd search for local businesses using Fremont instead of Newark, as otherwise I'd get results for New Jersey. I have relatives that used to live in Woodstock, VA. Everyone always thinks of Wodstock, NY, and it's hard to find local info, especially when searching from the West Coast. A lot of businesses describe themselves as in the Shenandoah Valley (and it was Shenandoah county), so I'd often search for Shenandoah, or Front Royal, which was the nearest sizable town. Other relatives live in Battle Creek, Iowa, a town of 800 or so people. Even with adding Iowa, I get way too many results for Battle Creek, Michigan. If I need to search for something (usually on ebay, looking for memorabilia) I will search for Ida Grove or Ida County. I know this really isn't an answer to your question, but more of some things to think about. Again, I'd ask (if you're not local to the area yourself) how people usually describe where they live, and look at search volume for that. Maybe also run some AdWords targeted to desired zip codes, and then look in the Search Query Reports in AdWords to see what cities people type in to modify their search?

Will subtitling Youtube video Be worthwhile?
We typically encourage our clients to caption any video they put on the web. I do not know the exact metrics to SEO rank jumping based on captions vs non-captions. That could be a experiment for Moz and their lab. In my experience though, it's a benefit beyond just the simple SEO. It's about general accessibility. 1st off, Google will try and auto caption your video whether you want them to or not. Typically it does an absolutely horrible job. So if someone is trying to watch your video with captions, it may make little to no sense. 2nd, Google will take those captions and translate them into any language it needs. Much like a bad game of telephone, we have found that bad translations just keep getting worse as google auto translates them. 3rd, it's been mentioned a few times that google does in fact scrape and index captions. They are what tells google what your video is about because Google doesn't have the AI intelligence to watch and understand. At least not until it goes full skynet and takes over. Here are a few links that may help. http://moz.com/blog/hosting-and-embedding-for-video-seo http://www.reelseo.com/youtube-closed-captions-seo/ http://www.3playmedia.com/2014/01/10/future-accessibility-video-captions-according-google-youtube/ On an implementation note, there are a few different ways to ease the burden. If it's script based it's easily upload-able yourself. While youtube is fairly awful at understanding, it can listen and align pretty well. If we have a script we simple copy and paste and are good to go. Hire out a professional transcription subtitle person. We do these on large scale projects. They transcribe and send us a nice and clean .srt file that we upload directly to youtube. Errand services. I have had friends that use services like Task Rabbit to hire out people to do the work. Never underestimate the power of 50 bucks when someone can type up a few things from home while sitting in their underwear. INTERNS! I'm sure nothing pleases an intern more than to sit in a dark room transcribing video all day long. I'm fairly positive it's what they live for... at least that's what are interns say when we are not forcing them to battle to the death with nerf swords.

Why can no tool crawl this site?
I would look into finding a method to redirect via your server rather than with javascript. This will ensure that bots can properly crawl your site. I would also add hreflang tags which should help Google with the multiple language versions of the site. Also in the short term you may want to do something like add a link or a delayed meta refresh just in case someone either has javascript disabled or is using script blocking extensions. This will make sure they at least see something instead of a blank page.
