Risk Using "Nofollow" tag
thx, Alan. Within real estate MLS - if I index all "MLS result pages" (ex: http://www.honoluluhi5.com/oahu/honolulu/metro/waikiki-condos/) I will have about 5,000 such MLS result pages (I mean 5,000 such category pages with each category often having more than 1 page). I have added unique quality content on Page 1 of about 300 such MLS result pages and I have added rel=next prev. For the other 4,700 pages I currently have "noindex, follow". Question: is it OK to have such a large amount of pages with "noindex, follow" on or do I run the risk Google thinks "hmmm….though we do not index, seems like a lot of crap on this website….let us lower ranking even for the quality pages." Would I simply be better off letting everything index? I am concerned if I let those pages index that will dilute the value of my high quality pages. I am thinking if I completely delete those low relevancy pages from my website it would be ideal (in order for Google to see my site's value) but users looking to buy real estate would not see as many listings as on other websites and that could be a concern. Any insight appreciated. thx

MOZ custom report is spamming my inbox
Hey There, Thanks for writing in and sorry for the confusion! The duplicated reports are a side-effect of a process we use to ensure that all of the custom reports run in a timely fashion. Basically, we have a minimum standard for how much data has to be collected before we update a campaign. For example, we require at least 95% of the keyword rankings to be collected for the campaign before we update that data. In this case it seems that your data collection completed the minimum requirements, so we then generated the report for the campaign. Our system automatically retried collection for some of the missing data from the campaign collection and we were able to retrieve it, so the campaign was updated again and an updated version of the report was generated. The problem is, if we set custom reports to wait for all data to show up before generating the report, we run the risk of the system not recovering the additional data, and customers not getting any report at all for that time period. So, we err on the side of sending out an additional report when we get a final data collection. We are strategizing on how to handle this better, but the current strategy is optimized for delivering the best data possible to the most customers, most of the time. I hope this information helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Have a great day!

URL Structure Suggestion
I agree with Rafi, you probably should go for the URL that better coves your message and still follow the SEO guidelines. The 2nd example of the URL follows the following checks and that is why the 2nd option for you is ideal. - The URL length is under limit. - The URL conveys message to the audience and do not contain any special characters. - It does not violate any guidelines. Hope this helps!

Can appropriate alt text be considered keyword stuffing?
I believe (please correct me if I'm wrong) that the page grader looks at the ratio of keywords to other text, not just a simple case of counting the number of times a keyword is used on the page - a 200 word page with 15 instances of the keyword would look stuffed, but a 2000 word page with 15 instances of the keyword (and its variations) would not look over stuffed - so long as you don't start listing keywords for the sake of it (this happens a lot with local optimisation - wood flooring london, wood flooring manchester, wood flooring birmingham, etc etc - yuk!) Hope this helps explain my suggestion.

Social Media Exhange.. In wich SEO side?
Hi Bigrat, I'm not sure what you mean by this... You can target anyone you like with your marketing efforts - whether it's something they're interested in or not is not something I can answer. Take a look at the Moz blog pages on using facebook for marketing, I'm sure you'll get an excellent strategy out of doing that! My one tip though is to always be honest: people can smell dishonesty even through their computer screens! Good luck, Amelia

301 redirects without .htaccess
Thanks! Unfortunately we can't change platforms for this, Volusion was chosen for its e-commerce capabilities and relatively non-technical backend interface.

A/B testing entire website VS Seo issues
My main experience with A/B is via Google Experiments and it looks like they highlight option 4: To ensure that serving your variation pages does not have a negative impact on your site's SEO rankings, you can use therel="canonical" link attribute on your variation pages. rel="canonical" is a signal to search engines that the content of your variation pages is essentially the same as that of your original page, and that you would prefer that search engines index your original page rather than the variations you're using in your experiment. Source: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/2613318 If you roll out rel=canonical correctly then this seems to be your safest bet in Google's eyes. My main experience is with split-testing single pages, but theoretically this should work out okay with the correct use of canonical. If you're really not sure you could roll out a mini-test with a couple of key pages first?

Site Structure. Which is better?
Ideally, the closer you are to the homepage the better. However - most of Amazon's products sit Homepage > Thing Being Sold > Category > Subcategory > Product So I don't think it can really hurt that much - they seem to do ok with it. But yes, closer is better in general. Shorten the checkout cycle, though, and people may not care as much.

Stolen Content reposted on other sites. How does this affect ranking?
JVRudnick, your story reminds me of this cool new site you can use to see whether the NSA are watching you: http://AreTheNSAWatchingMe.com/. Also reminds me of the T-shirt I wore yesterday. ePQ7IPQ.jpg

Unique Content Below Fold - Better Move Above Fold?
Thx. I am going to make non unique pages "noindex, nofollow" and I am going to get rid of "rel=next prev". This keeping "follow" on noindex pages is so minor and I think might hurt my site since it allows Google to read what is on those pages....(non unique duplicate looking content). I will update in a few months with the results.

Best way to move traffic/juice from one page to another?
Thanks. So it's not true that Google doesn't like two pages from the same website ranking at the top of page one for the same exact term? I could swear I've heard this several times.

Can't get my preferred URL, how much does it matter?
Thanks so much guys, really helpful. Will a 301 pass this "age trust", or any other trust factors? I'm moving over from a long establish domain, about 4 years old. It's a flash site though, so i want to convert to something more SEO friendly. Also how long does it take to gain trust? Got some high quality backlinks (only about 20 but very relevant). The 301 will help pass the "link juice" right? Cheers. Isaac.

Webmaster tools International Targeting
Correct, apart the last phrase (If the content is similar/duplicate, also make sure you're setting up hreflang tags). If content are duplicated, than use cross-domain canonical, being the href of the canonical tag the one of the most important site. Hreflang, though, must be implemented in order to tell Google to show one URL to its specific geotargeted audience, despite of the canonicalization being present. Why, because hreflang and rel="canonical" are two different things and hreflang does not substitute rel="canonical".

Duplicate content on multistore Magento website
As Matt Cutts repeated several times, Google is smart enough to recognize when it comes to a domain, and in this case you will not be penalized. The problem is that the same Google will choose a main content (only one of the three), and the other will not look, that is, you will not be positioned. The quality work means creating quality content and original. I guess that although the three countries speak the same language the texts should not be the same.

Do banners pass link juice
Keep in mind that if it is a link that is paid for in some manner, the search engines want to see a nofollow on that link.
