  • Hi Frank A 301 would take care of the problem very well, but where that may not be possible, using a canonical tag would do the trick.  If you can make sure that the page, in either http or https form uses a consistent canonical (one version for both), that will protect you from any duplicate issues as well. For more information on canonicals you can read the Moz guide on them. Hope this helps.

  • I can't speak to this specific traffic source, but it's very, very common to see strange bumps in traffic from unusual sources for short periods of time. 100 different reasons this could happen. Strange web configurations that accidentally link to you from every page of thier site, odd redirects, spambots gone bad, etc. Almost always, it's harmless and you can typically ignore it, although it can play havoc with your reporting.

  • Welcome. One thing I find really useful is the "Email Updates" button here on the Q&A posts. When I find a question I am interested in learning more about, I can click the "Email Updates" and then I will receive responses to the question via email. It's a great way to follow the topics you are curious about and tap into some of the expert knowledge here.

  • Hi Tom, thanks for you reply. I had you same concern about informing Google I have suspicious links in my profile although we aren't  currently suffering from a Google penalty. Unfortunately, what today made literately me scared was that I found brand new echoes that I couldn't find in Google cached and it seems like they have been adding new link a daily basis for days.  I can count around hundreds made from this site http://haeri26.kr/ since mid August, so I don't know what expect in the future. Moreover, as I changed site structure and made changes in the keywords I expected the current fluctuation for the tracked keywords' rankings, how can I be sure these are common ranking fluctuations and not a kind penalisation? To details a bit the fluctuation experienced: it was first a drop of around 15/20 positions, but in less than week I saw a fast recovery - usually improving the initial benchmark - soon followed by a new sad drop of a couple of pages for all the keywords. I'm scared an external agency we got rid in July is getting its childish revenge in this way. Thanks, P.

  • Thank you for your quick response guys. I really appreciate your feedback. Something worth mentioning for us who do SEO for non-US countries. The moz local only supports US and International locations are not supported at this time.

  • I would usually say no but so many sites seem to link to that same page they are viewing... If you are doing it for schema markup in Google SERPs all their examples show linking to the last part of the breadcrumb, see google rich snippets If you want to inform users you can examine adding a text element for the last part but most just leave the last part as the page you are viewing.

  • Thanks for the heads up and kudos for getting this figured out The workaround you found definitely doesn't sound ideal. I'll forward this along as feedback to our Product team for you to see if we can get a better solution in place.

  • I agree with both responses, I would like to add my experience to the mix, my site decreased in Domain Authority and Page Authority due to the loss of a few sites that were no longer linking in a few months ago, my site is relatively new and the Domain Authority went from 20 to 18, it has since increased to 19 after a few new sites linked in so that could well be the reason for your DA drop, I am not aware of any recent Google Updates but I do know that my Moz DA was updated a few days ago so that may coincide with your recent drop, I am not sure how often Google updates the link data in GWT so it may vary from what you see in OSE and Majestic SEO, as Chris says, the historical link option for Majestic SEO is very handy and the data seems to be updated quite frequently also. Hope this helps

  • Hi DeploySEO, It does sound like you're on the right track realizing that content development is going to need to be a major priority here. Don't underestimate the amount of creativity this process requires and deserves - you want to create a finished body of content that your customer love and of which your company is really proud. Wishing you good luck:)!

  • thank you Sam. I'll look more closely at the alternates. I thought I had covered the bases there but I see, like anything, there's going to be a learning curve to get the most out of the service. Thanks again for the response.

  • Wes, I would be more than happy to give you my feedback that's awesome that you are starting a YouMoz! Your right Moz this full of very talented SEO's Can't beat it. I have one more suggestion this is something I really enjoy and it's helped my career immensely. I would definitely sign up for SearchLove, MozCon,  inbound, SMX and other marketing conferences. I just returned from SearchLove San Diego and inbound 2014 I can tell you firsthand they are worth every penny. Your enthusiasm for this is fantastic and my best recommendation. I would recommend you do VIP you have the opportunity to have dinner with the speakers and get to know them. This led to more clients and more resources for me. Not to mention a whole lot of fun. I have attached a photograph of the  3rd day for me but is 2nd day of SearchLove. My interactive schedule this is something you can watch while you watch the speakers and ask questions and do way more it's really cool. The reason I posted this is you might see somebody familiar at the very bottom is a speaker. He was also a speaker at SearchLove of Boston earlier this year. I have the pleasure of seeing him again at inbound 2014 that ended last week. Of course MozCon awesome conference I recommend you go to As many as possible. I love the way Moz teaches I think they do a top-notch job however because when SEOmoz became an SAAS company they needed a partner to give their existing clients to they chose Distilled one of my favorite companies. There has been a very good relationship to say the least between Moz & Distilled making their offerings very complementary in my opinion to each other. Distilled is a marketing agency that offers a tool that was built to teach their own people. They released it approximately 3 years ago ( could be off by a year) I of course use both Moz and distilled University because they each offers so much when combined together they offer even more. the 2nd photograph attached is a personal Distilled U page showing what you have done and it's a considerable amount of time that will take to finish all the courses. And they're constantly adding new ones. However, this is great when dealing with clients because you can show them what you have done and in my opinion this  is very valuable. Check out distilled.net/u it is really an awesome way to practice what you've learned as well as obviously take in the always evolving new information in the search marketing world. I hope that all this is helpful and hopefully I will see you at the next MozCon & SearchLove Sincerely, Thomas DUTsPeT.png T1I5mSR.png

  • 'nofollow' - got it. Thanks for the response, and your logic makes sense. Would love a 2nd or 3rd on that from the masses just to make sure. RE: the use or random posts as opposed to related - great question Oleg! My guess is this was a theme feature that was added in to fill the footer, TBH. I use LinkWithin for related posts on almost every blog I manage - I might need to suggest that to this site, too (or something similar). Appreciate the extra insights.
