  • An 'aged domain' is desirable for SEO. However, don't put too much clout into the age of the domain, focus on the content, usability, and accessibility. With those taken care of AND an aged domain, you should benefit a little from its 12 years. Being parked is indifferent - just make sure to connect with Google through GWT (and all its other services) so G knows the domain is starting to be used for value-added content (and no longer parked).

  • Hi jfolpf, I'm afraid we don't support account deletion right now. However, you are welcome to change or remove any information in your Moz profile. We can swap out card details at our end, and once all this is done we can also ban your account to deactivate it. Please write into help@moz.com to get this ball rolling. Cheers! Jo

  • Hi, This is a good one. The description showing in the serp's is depended on the keyword people are looking for, the metadescription and the content on the page. Google decides what best fits to the keyword. If the metadescription fits in, Google will show that. if not, Google will search the content for that fits best at the keyword in the search. In your screens you search for little wannahaves, but in your description there is no use of "little wannahaves" so google is searching your content for a match with "little wannahaves" put little wannahaves in your description. I also advice you to shorten your description tot 150 characters. Grtz, Leonie

  • Thanks Hutch42! I was checking the real-time data and internal traffic (especially events) from our office IP are showing there, but it's not showing in stored data. So i guess the filters are working well.

  • Sorry, I'm not seeing the bad URL(s) in the cache. Could you provide a sample Google query that's showing the hijacking URL? Are you trying to prevent future hijacking or undo the SEO damage done by the previous hijacking? Sorry, I'm not completely clear on what happened or where you're at in the recovery process.

  • Hi Jason, I've had a look at the Search Metrics 'Ranking Factor Study' PDF and have looked at the relevant information. I believe the 'negative correlation' you mentioned refers to the fact that the H1 is now less important regarding the ranking and the SERP, according to their report. The H1 tag is roughly 55 - 60 characters, or 4 - 5 words as Moosa Hemani has said. I hope this has helped you understand what it means!

  • I was originally taught by my SEO sensei that you can include 1 link for approx. every 100 words. Still, I wouldn't do more than 1 or 2. You definitely don't want to include more than one link to the same page. Here's a video of Google's (former?) Matt Cutts on that. Be very careful when guest blogging for links. Here is what Cutts had to say about Guest Blogging: I wouldn’t recommend relying on guest posting, guest blogging sites, or guest blogging SEO as a linkbuilding strategy. http://searchengineland.com/matt-cutts-stick-a-fork-in-it-guest-blogging-is-done-182147 If you are guest blogging for links, I would suggest reading Cyrus Shepard's The Rules of Link Building here on the Moz Blog. He states that you should never ask for the anchor text, and I agree. Worry more about the quality of the content and less about the link.

  • thanks and it helps. are you saying that those article links are beneficial and is considered a good strategy? I am handling a website with over 3 million pages, highly ranked and I am considering implementing the technolgy to add internal text links to my pages. I imagine a database that includes all keywords and links to their pages and having this system scan my pages and insert links. again any opinion will help.

  • Still doubt if this technical requirement is still a requirement as I work with multiple sites that are listed in Google News without having the digits in the URL.

  • Thanks so much for listening my tweet and coming in here to drop a few lines Marie I think i'll do a mix of both techniques. First, an extensive link cleanup. Then follow my first post's steps (adding the noindex meta tags in all pages as you suggested below) and then do the 301 redirect. Will also add to the mix a redesign, just so the site looks renewed for both users and SE. Will share insights once we complete the migration. Thanks again! PS: will keep an eye for the article on SEW

  • Hi There, Just wanted to pop in and add to the conversation. Since this issue is particular to one site in chrome, diagnosing the issue from this end may be a bit tricky. If you would like you can write into help@moz.com and we can continue this conversation privately to discuss the more specific elements of your clients site. I am really sorry that we could not provide more information at the moment, but hopefully with a bit of collaborative digging we should be able to find out the issue. May you have a spectacular day and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

  • TF-IDF is a measure of how uncommon a term is against expectations inferred from a large dataset. In reference to a search engine like Google the large dataset is the Google Index. So if Google finds that a given keyword, let's say "non-alcoholic cocktail", is uncommon even in documents in which it does appear then it might be given a greater weighting in a page in which it appears. The same page which contains our example keyword, "non-alcoholic cocktail', might also contain another keyword, for example "cocktail", as many times as it contains our keyword and even in the same elements, headings and meta description. So you might expect that the 2 keywords would have equal importance in the eye of the search engine but due to TF-IDF this isn't necessarily true - "non-alcoholic cocktail" would be perceived as having higher importance due to its relative (to the greater dataset of the entire index) scarcity.

  • The cache info box shown in Google's cached pages is actually present but is being hidden by the website's design, specifically the div element with the classes "wsb-canvas body".
