Category: Feature Requests

Let us know about features and functionality that you’d like to see in the Moz tools.

  • Hey there, Sam from Moz's Help team here. I'm really sorry to hear that you're feeling so frustrated with the new setup:(. We always really appreciate your feedback as we aim to provide the best possible user experience for our Moz community. I've passed on this message to our development team so they can consider it when deciding on any changes to implement in the future. If you have any other suggestions, we'd love to hear them as well. Please feel free to send over a message to help@moz.com if there's anything else you'd like us to look into (it's an easier way for us to keep track of requests and feedback). Sorry again for the inconvenience!

  • Hi there! Tawny from Moz's Support Team here! That's a great suggestion for a feature request! I'll pass it along to the product team and see what they think. Maybe it's something that could be included in future updates to the tool. Thanks for writing in!

  • Sorry about that! While our keyword corpus for Keyword Explorer is large, it does not cover all keywords. If you see "no data" reported for a keyword's volume, it means we do not yet have volume information available. The good news is that your Keyword Difficulty score is unaffected by volume data, as it relies on SERP rankings, so you can definitely still find useful data here! We are continually adding keyword volumes to our database, so we may have data for your keywords in the future. Hopefully our coverage for Austria will improve soon!

  • Hi there - Kristina from Moz's Help Team here. Unfortunately at this time our crawler isn't compatible with Server Name Indication (SNI), which appears to be in use on your site. In general, SNI is a totally acceptable security configuration, but our crawler simply isn't equipped to be able to handle these settings. http://screencast.com/t/dB2C3eVJ7gN I found this thread in our Community Q&A forum with lots of other users running into the same problem, so it's definitely something we're aware of and working to address: https://moz.com/community/q/804-https-ssl-error The good news is that a recent update has been made, and we're ready to accept beta SNI customers to test it out. Please see the article here that explains this further: https://moz.com/community/q/moz-pro-our-web-crawler-and-sites-that-use-sni and if you're interested in being a part of the beta testing, the link to the sign up page is here: http://goo.gl/forms/LCvL9Ix8JDHfbAvr1 I apologize for the inconvenience in the meantime, but hopefully we'll have it fixed soon! Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help!

  • Hi there! Difficulty score is solely based on the DA and PA for the top ranking sites for a particular keyword. The only occasion we would take your site's Domain Authority or Page Authority into account is if you yourself were ranking in one of those top spots. So, the Difficulty score would be the same for everyone who searched at that particular time. I hope that clarifies things!

  • I just got a reminder from MOZ in my mailbox to see responses to my question. There are none, what a shame. I'm moving to Ahrefs.

  • Hi Lisa, Very serendipitous indeed!! In fact after I wrote my Q&A yesterday morning "Including "Volume" on the Tracked Keywords Overview Page in Moz Pro", I received a brief Moz questionnaire in the afternoon. While filling it out I thought I would just mention again how it would be nice to have this feature. Ten minutes later and I was back looking at my campaigns and much to my amazement, a column with "Volumes" was on the page!!! :0 I must admit for a few minutes I was second guessing myself. Was it actually there before I submitted my question to Q&A? If so then that would look pretty dumb!! However I was pretty confident that "Universal Results" was indeed there in the morning. I just figured Moz Support had looked at my question in the Q&A, gone into my account and changed a setting to see a different column display. I had looked before for a column display setting but could not find one. Yesterday after the change I went looking again, but I still could not find it. It didn't matter. I had my volumes column and I was using it yesterday afternoon to make some SEO adjustments based on the information. With your message this morning.....the mystery is solved!! Thanks.....Scott

  • Hi there. Kristina from Moz's Help Team here. The Crawl Test tool is limited to only 3,000 pages by design as the full Site Crawl that happens within your campaign(s) is a much larger, weekly crawl that occurs. All Moz Pro Standard & Medium subscription levels (you currently have access to a Standard account) default all Site Crawls within a Campaign at a max of 50,000 pages. If you're interested in crawling more than 50,000 pages within a single Campaign, it would require subscribing to a higher subscription. You can view all of our subscription plans on our pricing page here: https://moz.com/products/pro/pricing As always, you can reach out to our team in the future with product questions such as this one by either emailing help@moz.com or clicking on the blue chat box on the lower right hand corner of your screen while in the product itself. I hope this helps but please let me know if there's anything else I can assist with! Thank you, -Kristina

  • Hi there! Tawny from Moz's Help Team here. I think I can help explain why you're seeing such different Opportunity scores in Keyword Explorer for two very similar searches. Opportunity Score is designed to calculate the relative Click-through-Rate (CTR) of the organic web results in any given Google Search Engine Result Page (SERP). Google SERPs that have very few non-traditional ranking features and are more similar to the classic “ten blue links” only model will have very high Opportunity Scores. SERPs that have many features - like images, ads, news results, answer boxes, knowledge graph panels, etc. - will have much lower Opportunity scores. We use an averaged CTR model derived from our anonymized clickstream data to build this useful metric and apply it based on the features we see in Google’s results. I ran a quick test using the search terms "Seattle to San Francisco" and "Flight from Seattle to San Francisco", and here's what I saw: http://www.screencast.com/t/iZzvZKx7ov  It looks like the difference in SERP features present for that search is the reason that searches of this type are getting different Opportunity scores. I hope this helps! If you have more questions or need some further clarification, feel free to write in to help@moz.com any time!

  • Hey there Patrick! Glad to hear you're enjoying Keyword Explorer so far! While I can't speak to upcoming unannounced feature releases, I know this is a popular request and I'll be sure to pass your feedback along to our product team! In regards to the best current workaround to get at that local keyword data, you've hit the nail on the head with geo-modifying your searches. Feel free to let us know if you have any other feedback!

  • So you're tracking "np - /google-structured-data-update/" as a keyword in Moz? If so, you should just delete that because it's not actually a keyword. The only purpose "NP - /some-interior-site-page/" serves is to regain a small amount of the keyword data GA took from us starting back in 2011. See this article for more details: https://blog.kissmetrics.com/unlock-keyword-not-provided/

  • Hello!  Thanks for the feedback! The overall goals of the redesign of this page were: support configurable date ranges (you can now see our entire keyword history instead of a fixed 12-week / 12-month chart) make your keyword ranking data clearer with a couple of new charts (the old chart was confusing if you had multiple pages rankings for a KW, and didn't work with configurable date ranges).  We have added the Search Visibility to chart to show the overall impact of all of your rankings pages on your keyword performance.  We also added the Highest Ranking Position chart as a simplified version of your Keyword Performance. provide some room and scale for some new things we have coming soon (SERP Features, more KW metrics) move to the latest version of KW difficulty move the page onto our new, faster, more reliable KW rankings platform (this is more of an internal Moz goal, but I thought I would include it on this list. Plus you will see the benefits through faster pages and more reliable / timely rankings data) I hear what you are saying - let me address your concerns in turn: extra whitespace on the page - I agree this looks a little strange right now, and sorry it stopped all the data you care about fitting on the screen (though if you use Chrome, the page scales really well with Ctrl +/-, I sometimes use that to fit more in a screenshot).  We have left a little extra space for some new things we have coming up, so that is why it feels a little weird now.  Sorry about this in the meantime! a writeup on the changes - no there is not, but this is a great idea, and I am going to turn this response into a post and publish it - thank you for prompting that Moz Analytics vs Moz Pro - Moz Pro is the name of the overall subscription product, we heard some customers were confused by the internal tool names so we are trying to simplify things a little by stopping using some names Hope this helps! I am on jon@moz.com if you wanted to chat over email - happy to help in any way I can!

  • Hi Sean! Unfortunately do not have an ETA on when the SNI may be fixed. We are definitely aware of the problem and know it is a big concern for a growing number of users, however fixing the issue requires a good amount of time and resources due to the need to significantly rewrite our crawler. If you are able to disable the SNI configuration on your site, then we should be able to crawl it normally. Sorry I don't have better news right now!

  • Hi there! If you’re not able to attend a scheduled personalized demo it helps us a great deal if you can contact your specialist in advance to arrange a new time slot. Otherwise we have a lovely Mozzer hanging on the line with no one to talk to I can see that your demo master reached out to you with a link to reschedule, so you should be able to find this in your inbox or by logging into the app to pick up that message. If you don’t see this, just shoot us an email at help@moz.com and we’ll get it sorted for you. I hope this helps! Cheers! Jo

  • Hello, you need to have pages setup in the page optimizer. Insert a url along with a keyword you want to optimize for. After you have your first page optimized you will be able to access related topics based on a list of keywords you could possibly rank for. on the page optimization tab click discover. Then click the url you want to see related topics on. Click related topics and you will see a list of keywords. There will be a graph showing likely hood of ranking. To the far right is an drop down arrow. Here you will find urls to posts written that rank for a particular keyword. hope that helps!
