Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • Eight!? That sucks Try my crawl file: https://d.pr/f/KTsX5i.seospider (crawl file, hosted on my Droplr) When you load an SF crawl file directly, it remembers all the settings it was run with (handy huh?) So just make copies of my file and re-run it from there. Problem solved. No need for any questions

  • You should be able to force https under your Settings (gear in upper right) > Domains & URLs (left side navigation)> Primary Domains (under "Domains" tab) > Edit (button on right side) > [  ] Require HTTPS (make sure this box is checked.

  • Big question here is, are any other tools giving 5XX errors on those PDF URLs (ending in .pdf) or just Moz on its own? Moz is known to have issues crawling URLs which contain certain characters, which other crawlers may not have a problem with - so you need a second opinion here Install this on Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/redirect-path/aomidfkchockcldhbkggjokdkkebmdll?hl=en (mainly for tracking redirects, but also tells you status info in a handy way from a pop-out button) Visit one of the URLs directly which Moz is saying gives a 5XX. Does it on Chrome? Note: sometimes a page will look like it has rendered properly, but for some reason the server will still send an invisible 5XX response - this Chrome plugin would pick that up!) Also check the URL with this second plugin: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/seo-indexability-check/olojclckfadnlhnlmlekdihebmjpjnoa?hl=en-GB If both those plugins agree the page loads fine on a 200, then Moz has an error. If they both agree that the page is a 5XX even though it looks legit, then you have a server response error If you get mixed results we have a mystery to look deeper into...

  • I like to use Keyword Explorer for YouTube research the same as I would for SERP  keyword research.  The difference is I look at the keywords differently.  I try to think of the "user intent" and how it would differ from a web search vs a video search per se. As an example, let's take the keyword "NBA sneakers".  (I know nothing about sneakers but it's the first thing that came to mind) User intent for organic search might default to "buy nba sneakers" as the dominate interpretation.  For the most part when people do a Google search for "nba sneakers" they will probably be looking to purchase sneakers and the results will generally be "stores" in the top results. When someone is on YouTube, the default might be to compare or get more information about the different popular sneakers that are out right now.  Generally it's people looking for a visual vs actually purchasing. (not that they won't want to purchase soon) Keyword Explorer will help you find questions and keywords around the topic you are researching, you'll need to decide what the intent of those keywords are based on user intent. You can read more about user intent here --> https://moz.com/blog/a-guide-to-setting-up-your-very-own-search-intent-projects and here is some information about building an intent-based keyword list here --> https://moz.com/blog/the-basics-of-building-an-intent-based-keyword-list https://moz.com/blog/the-basics-of-building-an-intent-based-keyword-list

  • Hi there! Thank you so much for the great question and sorry for the confusion here! Moz's Spam Score is not calculated based on the Spam Scores of your inbound links but rather, it is the percentage of sites we have found to have been penalized or banned by Google which have similar on-site features. If you're looking to improve your Spam Score on Moz, I would recommend checking out the 27 common features we identified through our machine learning model which make up this score. Working to improve those features on your site will help to improve your Spam Score. I also have a guide here from our Help Hub which talks more about Spam Score, the common features, and how to use this metric. https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/spam-score I hope this helps! If you have follow up questions, you can always email us at help@moz.com.

  • As far as I know when something makes new update they change lots of things. That's not only you but many other people facing this same problem. But creating good content, fix on page and internal linking for a good result.

  • As long as the subdomain is on a good host, has good UX/content and links well w/the parent. It also requires more maintenance than the parent. But if you can maintain everything then it's ok.

  • Hi BJake, Moz & Google use different ranking factors, similar but different as they both have their own crawl spiders. If you're tracking the site on Mox base your figures on that campaign, & any of Mozs tools that you have. Other than that, have you looked at you Google Search Console reports?

  • I completely disregard those numbers.  Completely. On an informative site, I would use every genuine text connection in Article A as an opportunity to link it to other articles on the website.  If you look at wikipedia articles, you will see an example of what I am talking about.  We make those hyperlinks bold on our site becaused we believe that bolding increases the number of times visitors will use those links (and generates more pageviews that are monetized by ads). On a retail site with related content articles we have two approaches. 1)  On the article pages that explain the use, maintenance, selection, etc. of retail products, we use bold hyperlinks to direct the visitor to: A) pages where mentioned items are sold (this is done to help visitors easily connect to a sales page while information about the article is immediate in their mind); and, 2) pages where informative articles about that same product are located.  This is very similar to the linkage on informative article sites. On pages where products are sold we cut back on linking, and focus on linking only to pages were accessories are sold; and pages where important information about the item being sold is explained.  This decreased linkage is to help the visitor maintain their purchase intent, yet give them easy access to accessory purchases and the most important product information.
