Hello! Sam from Moz's Help Team here! So -  after being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. However, there are a lot of factors which can affect our ability to find and index links to your site. It's important to note that we are always adding new data to our index, but it may take some time for us to discover backlinks to your site based on factors like crawlability of the referring pages, quality of the links and the referring pages, and more. If you are not seeing links that you know you have, you may want to make sure that they can be indexed. It is also a good idea to check to see if we've indexed the page on which that link is found. If we haven't indexed the referring page yet, you won't see your link in our index. You can also add links to Link Tracking Lists. Once you add a link to your tracking lists we will add that page to be crawled. As long as it is accessible to our crawler, you should see the link in our index as soon as we can index those pages. Lastly, I have a great guide here with some things to check around why we may not have found your links yet: https://moz.com/help/link-explorer/link-building/moz-isnt-finding-your-links If you'd like any further information, please feel free to pop us an email over at help@moz.com. We do also have a great guide to Domain Authority just here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority

Hi, No, MOZ does not have any option to disavow links and you should not be worried about disavowing links in Moz. Instead, disavow them from the Google Search Console because Google is the search engine that ranks your site according to proper linking.

Hi, Great question, Link Explorer and the Links tab of Moz Pro Campaigns are both tied to our Link index, which is constantly updating. After being found, newly discovered links have the ability to be populated into our index in about 3 days. When discovered or lost links are found, we'll update our database to reflect those changes in your scores and link counts. We prioritize the links we crawl based on a machine learning algorithm to mimic Google's index. This does not mean that DA and PA will change with every data update, though; it will only change if we find new link data for a respective site. I'm sorry I can't tell you exactly when your DA will update it depends on when we find new equity passing backlinks to your site. You can read more about our new Link Explorer tool and our index here. You can also read more about how our Link index compares with our competitors here https://backlinko.com/best-backlink-checker Feel free to reach out to help@moz.com with any further questions

Hi snjaoieiw, To get a detailed answer from Moz staff on what DA is, you might consider searching the Q&A forum. In short, though, it is a Moz metric (not a Google or Bing metric) that takes into consideration the number (and quality) of backlinks your website has. That said, have you been working on building up high quality backlinks? -Zack

  • You can run a graphical report showing your Ranking History for each keyword targeted since you started your campaign. To do this log into your campaign.  Click View This Campaign/All Keyword Rankings. On your Rankings Report click on the ranking you want to see charted.  For instance, if you rank #1 on Google for a keyword this week, you can click on that ranking and a graphical report showing your Ranking History for that keyword since you started your campaign for that word will appear.

  • We noticed a loss of links showing up for one client.  Their PA went up, DA went down. The main BBB links did not show up, and 9 or so other from known sources.

  • You mean something that shows how much link equity is passed by an individual link (like mozRank passed) or by a given page/domain (in which case I'd use PA or DA).

  • Those links with date stamp is created via archiving system of Wordpress core or one of it's extensions. So you may want to look at url rewriting solutions to remove date stamp from urls. However, it makes categorization a little bit mixed.

  • Hi Dwight, The crawl did change a bit. Check out this thread http://www.seomoz.org/q/domain-authority-decrease-after-open-site-explorer-update-reasons for some more information from the OSE people.

  • I wouldn't quite say that Roger was slacking, but more like he was running in a bunch of different directions at once. It's unfortunate that the Q&A system had problems right when we started MozCon and the new OSE was rolled out. All of the questions did get posted, and the Moz team is looking through the questions that got posted. So sorry for the down time!

  • Hey guys, The issue you are seeing is due to the new OSE update. We have done some updating with our crawler and this index represents the newest version - sadly, with a few bugs...We are looking into this issue and hope to have it resolved as soon as possible! The newest version of our crawler is built to be fresher, but it is also going much deeper into high MozRank pages. This bug has probably always existed, but has never been obvious since we weren't crawling as deep into domains where there are more download links. We are currently looking into fixing this so these won't be counted as inbound links. I'm so sorry for the inconvenience - once we get this new version of the crawler dialed and smoothed out, it will be providing you guys a much fresher and higher quality index! There is another thread regarding this topic, so check it out if you want more information on what is going on with this index. Thanks, Carin

  • Hey Sean If I were you select all links to "any" and don't exclude anything that way you can do with the data what you please in excel rather than restricting yourself. But I guess it just depends on what your using the data for. Cheers

  • Hey guys! Keri is right - we have done some updating with our crawler and this index represents the newest version - unfortunately with a few hiccups. People seem to be seeing two issues with this new index - link counts and domain authorities are going up or down considerably and there is an increase of "questionable" inbound links. Both issues are due to the same root cause: our new crawler is built to be fresher, but it is going deeper into domains, and, unfortunately not visiting as many domains. Domains with a high MozRank are getting crawled deeper, but domains with middle to lower MozRanks are not getting crawled. Our top priority now is to get the domain diversity back up to or better than that of our last update as was originally designed. It's fixable and we will be focusing all efforts on this. Previous crawling worked by selecting a list of the top MozRank URLs (around 10B) and then crawling one page from each of them. Now we are crawling links as we discover them, and crawling high MozRank sites daily, weekly or monthly. The advantage of the new crawlers is we are crawling all the time and so we will have fresher data. As links are added, we are much more likely to discover these deeper links. The new crawl had 59B urls, a lot more than the previous 42B, however, more of these links are from the same domain. The reason for the "questionable" links is due to the fact that the crawler is reaching deeper into the domains where there are more download links. We are currently looking into fixing this so these won't be counted as links. We'll let you know as soon as that issue is resolved! We are really sorry for the inconvenience. Once we have this new crawler dialed it will provide much fresher and higher quality data!! Thanks, Carin

  • Hi, I have noticed this problem too with my OSE, I contacted the dev team about going back to the old format where you can download the files to CSV and they said they are looking into it. (I hope they do) I think it is also a matter of demand on the website, I would wait till a SEOmoz rep also confirms this. Regards, James.

  • Hi! Yes, there was a problem, but it's all fixed now. There's some backlog, but you should start seeing new questions make it to the web. So sorry for the downtime!

  • Hi! It is a result of the OSE update. Rand talks about it a little in the blog post at http://www.seomoz.org/blog/brand-new-open-site-explorer-is-here when he says: In addition to all the amazing new features in Open Site Explorer, Linkscape's index just updated using a new infrastructure that's allowed us to crawl much deeper on large, important sites. For many pages/domains, this will mean an increase in the total number of links we report, but likely a lower count of linking domains (unless you've gained a lot of links in late June/July) since we're excluding many domains that are low-quality/not-well-linked-to. We'd love your feedback on this index, as it's the first one of its kind, and will continue to see tweaks/improvements over the next few updates.
