Blog engagement award system (like on Moz)
Thanks Casey, that's handy to know... was still considering them despite the costs as I 'assumed' at such high rates the service would be excellent but I guess it's not always a case of you get what you pay for. Cheers for the heads up

Remarkting PPC Question
Hi Dan, As Maurizio describes, regular AdWords Display and Remarketing work in different ways in terms of targeting. Remarketing allows you to target uses on whom you've placed a tracking cookie when they previously visited a specific page on your site - note that it takes time to build this audience. Regular AdWords Display Network targeting opens your ads up to the wider Google Display Network (GDN) audience). As for costs, in both cases you'll have control over daily budgets, and you will generally find the AdWords/GDN system is effective at keeping your spend beneath this threshold (it goes over slightly once in a while, but generally it's quite accurate). Sometimes the opposite problem occurs - your audience targeting is too limited to reach your daily spend. It often takes some massaging over the first week or so to get the balance right. You can also utilize the pre-pay billing option to add a specific amount to your account, rather than sign up for rolling billing. This will ensure that if you have only, say, a $2,500 budget to work with, you don't have to try and pause your daily campaign precisely when you hit that mark - rather, you can allow the ads run until your budget is depleted, at which point AdWords will automatically shut off your ads. Two things I'd recommend: Get a jump on building your remarketing audience ahead of time, as depending on your site traffic, you may find you can't hit your target daily spend on this front until you've built a healthy audience, and it could take weeks. Get that remarketing pixel up ASAP. Start your daily budgets small while you're getting used to the system and getting a sense of how things work. This will allow you to make some early adjustments before you're depleting too much of your spend. Then ramp things up when you have some confidence in the audience you're bringing in. Display is tough in general as a direct response medium, particularly with a high-friction call-to-action ("buy now" or "request a quote" or similar). Remarketing tends to drive better clickthrough rates, but your audience is more limited and it's slow going at first. I've seen best results when the ads aren't so much pitching the product/service itself but a useful resource, a guide or something similar, with a low friction conversion (user provides simply their email address, not 10 points of personal information). I don't know if your ads are already designed and the strategy is set, but if you can influence things towards getting more users in at the top of the funnel, into a lead nurturing program or similar, rather than going for the hard sell on that first point of contact, you'll often see better long-term success with that approach. Best of Luck, Mike

Anybody using Screaming Frog?
Good crawlers are always useful although real value depends on what aspects of a site you want to analyse and how much data there is to crawl. Xenu is great for quick and dirty link analysis, whereas Screaming Frog, (Microsoft's IIS) SEO Toolkit and DeepCrawl all include much more detail and analysis options. Also worth noting that Screaming Frog and SEO Toolkit run from your local machine, whereas DeepCrawl is cloud based and therefore more scalable. There might be other SEO crawlers out there too but these are the ones I use most.

Reverse IP Targeting Information?
Thanks guys, I was doing my own research as well and found a product called LeadCaster from VisiStat. They seem to be over selling capabilities but if they are using a large 3rd party database, like SalesForce, it seems possible. I'm still very skeptical. Here is the link if you want to check it out. http://www.visistat.com/visistat-solutions.php Thanks again. Matt

Has anyone ever used onlywire as a social media monitoring tool? Feedback?
Hi I have used OnlyWire with TribePro. I would say for the total of $100/month I pay it's not really worth it. I am probably cancelling at the end of this month.. If you are looking at a central place to post to all your social media accounts it is a good service but for SEO not so much... It's not very good for social monitoring...

What makes a quality backlink?
a) page rank on that page, not the homepage. the page rank has to be on the page you are linked on b) few number of outgoing links on that page, the more links the more the PR gets diluted and spread out c) no funky sites also linked on that site, casino, adult, pharma sites d) straight dofollow link e) anchor text of your choice f) in content link, not on some sidebar or footer, in the content of the paragraph.

Open Site Explorer Question: Img Alt tags on Links Report
I wouldn't worry. Open Site Explorer (though a great tool) isn't updated as often as we'd like because Moz simply doesn't have the crawl power that Google has at its disposal. Be patient and OSE will catch up. In the meantime you could compare the links in Google Webmaster Tools (Traffic > Links to your Site). However, this info isn't great either and doesn't drill down into the individual links in the way that OSE does.

Site Suddenly Down
Im running this site since 2003. Yes, I do see lots of my competitors dont have "-" in it. How can I verify that this Google update also penalized "-" in this version. Personally, I think, this cant be the case as content is the most important (technically). Everything else is secondary.

Advertising for B to B Product
We've tried with Twitter but with a very poor ROI. For B2B on Twitter is like fishing with dinamite unless you have some great quasars (accounts with very good exposure in the right niche) that can help. On the other hand we had a very good ROI going with Linkedin as a B2B channel. Personally I've never tried #2 and #3 so my opinion is pointless on those two. Hope it helps.

What are some good internet marketing strategies for high priced products?
Hi, I would suggest that you check in b2b portals like Alibaba. Email marketing, adsense and seo. Plus you could try to get few affiliates and pay them a commission if they make any sale. You could go in various embassies of different countries based in your country and ask them for contact details of people who might be interested in buying this kind of products.I hope that this helps. Regards Nik

In Page Analytics Not Showing For My ASP ImageButtons (Google Analytics)
Hi Dave The Google Analytics In Page view actually does not show how many people click on a specific button but rather how many people visit the page the button links to. As you know Analytics only, at least by default, register pageviews, not clicks on links or buttons. So if you would have more than one link on a page pointing to a specific page you would not be able to see what button actually got the clicks. The number on both of them would be the views on the page they lead to. In your case the button is implemented with a somewhat "odd" instead of a "normal" button. I would suspect that the in page tools is not configured to show statistics for this tag. BUT, that does not mean that the data is not there. Its just not shown in the in page view. You might want to consider swapping it to a href or submit button and then add the image with some simple CSS. This would actually be "better" HTML as well. Maybe something like: input.delete { background-image: url('bin/images/common/delete.png'); width: 20px; height: 20px; border: 0; cursor: pointer;} Hope this helps Fredrik

Retargeting in Scandinavia
Hi Fredrik! We have re-targeting running for several of our clients through partners. My best experiences is Webtraffic, specially for swedish market due to Webtraffic beeing a Schipste company, they only display their own banners on their own sites and as they own about 94% of the traffic (Aftonbladet, TV4, Blocket, Tv-nu etc etc) you get very nice CTR and CR values from them. Specific Media is also a player that we have had very good results from and they are better if you are shooting at entire Scandinavian market as Schipsted is week in Finland.
