what is the best way to find online retailers in a certain industry?

Try searching Google Products or Shopping (can't recall what they're calling it nowadays) - most big operators will have a presence on there. I'm sure some industries like clothing aren't represented as well, but I'd imagine it works for many.

I would either look at http://www.dmoz.org/ or http://www.alexa.com/topsites/category
