Recommended ppc spend
Hi EGOL, I see that you have quite the opinion on SEM! I think you have some really great tidbits in your response (like not trusting published recommendations because it can be coming from someone like Google who just wants your money, recommending to do the math before new advertisers dive in, and that there are too many variables to determine if you will be profitable your first go). However, there are a few areas that I think are necessary to provide an alternative opinion on for the sake of discussion and public information. I was completely in agreeance with you until you mentioned that people who run SEM accounts don't care about profit margins and business owners barely know their own profit margins. I've been working in paid search for 5+ years and never once have I ever met a business owner or dedicated paid search specialist who wasn't concerned about their profits and overall business impact. I'm glad that you've done the math and have decided that it isn't going to work out for your business, but there is a lot about PPC that doesn't fit well with the math - unless you assumed a 10 QS for every KW and your product still doesn't sell in that atmosphere. As you gain positive account history, you essentially get "discounts" on your bids. From my experience, the Keyword Planner is only a tool to give you a general idea of what you will need to bid and rarely have I seen my actual bids match exactly what the planner suggested - they've been both up & down on the suggested CPC. It's very difficult to assume profit or volume of conversions in a system that is very fluid. As you've already mentioned, when working in PPC it's very possible the target market can be quite competitive. If you're in a competitive niche it will be harder to turn a profit on a per-product basis. And even that has conditional standards against it, like how large your orders are, how many times you have return customers, how optimized your PLAs are, if you're driving the right traffic to the right pages, your conversion funnel. If you make it difficult at any piece of the process then PPC is going to be costly because the experience is poor and competitor experiences are likely much higher quality. I agree that there are many opportunities for failure, however there are just as many times PPC succeeds - or else companies wouldn't continue paying for traffic or putting $500,000+ a month into Google AdWords. This is also a question from someone who is interested in experimenting and seeking generalized recommendations for how much to spend with no inclination to their intended market or vertical. Things that may not work for one company might work incredibly well for another. I appreciate the comprehensiveness of your response on the aspects of what make PPC hard, but I definitely challenge the notion that it's not worth investigating.

Zoho or ...?
Hey, We used Zoho at the start of this year but unfortunately it wasn't a very good experience. Some of their features at that time were full of bugs and we took a hard time to reach their support staff. Although, the interface was quite simple and sleek but the problems with core-features encourages us to discontinue. I would not suggest you to skip Unbounce for Zoho at least for now. UB is really powerful and quite helpful for PPC campaigns. Play around with Zoho for a month and then make your decision! Hope this helps! Thanks,

Search Analytics Question
The new Search Analytics is really a major step forwards, in my opinion. But it doesn't seem to have been tested very thoroughly. For instance, on any screen that shows total clicks, if you click the Download button and export that page to Excel, then add the clicks column in Excel, it's off by about 30%. So you may be looking at the effect of one of a number of basic bugs here.

Google Search Bar
Hi John. Correct, your site is indexed with Google, and Google will distribute your site across its search portals, for example you can run the site search on Google Italy, Google Russia, and so on, but when you set the search to pull specific results from just the UK your site doesn't appear. It's still in Google, but what you're asking Google to do is show you only UK-based sites. You can do something similar with Italy here: https://www.google.it/#q=soccerbox.com changing 'Paese' to Italia. Then the site:soccerbox.com search returns no results. Another way to see this behavior is to go to Google Advanced Search where you can select 'region'. Here: http://www.google.com/advanced_search For the descriptor of that, Google states, "Find pages published in a particular region." Since you're publishing globally instead of locally you won't appear when you search your domain plus a given region, like Australia, the UK, and so on. It looks like Global results are your preference so everything looks to be working as intended. Cheers!

Instagram analytics tool
Hi Patrick, Thanks a lot for your answer! We have tried UnionMetrics now (because the other two don't measure impressions on Instagram), however the tool only measures impressions for hash tags, not for a single post. Anyway thanks a lot for your help!

How long Penguin takes to forgive you after backlink cleanup
Thanks. Yes, I totally agree. That's the goal. We're just aggressive. Hopefully not too aggressive.

Cleaning up bad backlinks E-commerce
What do you think? Everyone in the industry has the same problem. Should I eliminate dozens of fettish sites backlinks or leave them alone? Or do you think that's not the problem?

Whether or not this informational niche has promise for ads
Hi Bob, In your second reply you mentioned " I have a second idea that has lots of ads in the niche but a lot of the suggested bids in Google Planner are dashes. A few say $2.50 Should I stay away from keywords with dashes?" Dashes only means that Google does not have enough data from the last 12 months in your selected location and language, in short low traffic keywords. AdWords has no fixed price per click it is a dynamic bidding system and the price per click depends on many factors. You can read more from here : How costs are calculated in AdWords If you really want to reach more audience and try to find search volume IMO you should start campaign with BMM keywords only with very low budget like $10 per day and just bid that much that you can appear on first page not on top so you can avoid more clicks. By doing this you will get an idea about keyword search volume by spending little and if you think impression is enough you can raise your bids and include other match types to get goal conversions. Hope this helps. Thanks

Is there any tool by which I can see the traffic of competitor but geographical wise?
if you have your data on your keywords. both rankings and traffic. you could also get his rankings on the same keywords and make an estimation on how much traffic it should be. The CTR for each position you could also estimate based on your own results, or check http://www.advancedwebranking.com/ctrstudy/

How to check internet archive
There are archive tools out there. I have not used but take a look at http://www.screenshots.com/, https://archive.is, http://www.competitorscreenshots.com/ You might find what you are looking for, but don't assume all pages will be crawled for various reasons. From Wayback: If you look at our collection of archived sites, you will find some broken pages, missing graphics, and some sites that aren't archived at all. Here are some things that make it difficult to archive a web site: Robots.txt -- We respect robot exclusion headers. Javascript -- Javascript elements are often hard to archive, but especially if they generate links without having the full name in the page. Plus, if javascript needs to contact the originating server in order to work, it will fail when archived. Server side image maps -- Like any functionality on the web, if it needs to contact the originating server in order to work, it will fail when archived. Unknown sites -- The archive contains crawls of the Web completed by Alexa Internet. If Alexa doesn't know about your site, it won't be archived. Use the Alexa Toolbar (available at www.alexa.com), and it will know about your page. Or you can visit Alexa's Archive Your Site page at http://pages.alexa.com/help/webmasters/index.html#crawl_site. Orphan pages -- If there are no links to your pages, the robot won't find it (the robots don't enter queries in search boxes.) As a general rule of thumb, simple html is the easiest to archive.

Know of any tools to report overlapping of organic placement and keyword search placement on SERPs?
The question isn't clear but I'd guess you are looking for something like SEMRush.

General International SEO
I believe most of Aleyda Solis' epic international SEO checklist is still valid. You'll also want to check a couple of updated & interesting articles here and here. If you do end up using hreflang tags you can test them with the Flang tool. This ensures the tags you've setup are done correctly. With hreflang you won't need alt languages but hreflang handles both language & location (region specific). So en-au and en-us are same language, different countries. Take a look through the documentation for it and see if you have further questions.
