  • Cheers Everett. Thanks for your response. That was my feeling on the tool (you were correct when asking which tool it was, BTW), but always good to get confirmation. Nick.

  • This is marketing blather.  Ask this person to explain it, in detail and keep saying "I don't get it.  How is this going to help me?" until they hang up.

  • I'd maybe run some A/B tests with and without the plugin on your store, and see what happens to your conversions, including everything you'd want to track- sales, social shares, and any other important metrics. You could use something like Optimizely for this I believe, though I've not used it for testing plugins before. I'm a big fan of putting usability at the forefront of all of my marketing efforts, so I'd maybe consider finding out from some of your other customers their opinions, too. Is the share button on all of your website, certain pages, or just your checkout page? Is there a way to make it less intrusive, or easier to close/get away from, for customers who struggle? Have you conducted thorough browser testing to ensure the plugin isn't causing extra issues for those using certain browsers? I've had issues in certain browsers with other similar plugins before so it might be worth checking. Hope this helps, good luck!  Zoe

  • You can also use Analytics now to get a rough idea of the search queries (impressions, clicks, positions and ctr). In Analytics go to Acquisition > Search Engine Optimization > Queries Otherwise you can still use WMT to see the query under Search Traffic > Search Analytics

  • Thank you, I knew about the paid and organic likes I just didn't know where the netlikes fell in and how it was calculated to which you nicely showed me in private

  • Yeah Press loft worked a treat for us... but we make personalised products that are easily given as gifts so worked well for the platform. Yeah i'd be really keen to find other similar services that are a bit more generic (and cheaper). Anyone?

  • Hi Mitesh, I know that Omniture offers hourly alerts, and is the most commonly used analytics platform after Google Analytics, as far as I know. Personally, though, I'd stick with GA and hire a developer to use GA's API to create the alerts you're asking for. Pretty much any analytics tool other than GA is going to cost you an arm and a leg, and all have their limitations. A good dev will be able to create the exact report you need with GA's API. Sorry this wasn't more helpful! Kristina

  • Yes. Screaming Frog will pull the meta data for any URL you feed it, so if you scrape the URLs using Scrapebox, Screaming Frog will return the meta data.

  • Are you running the W3 Cache plugin? If so, this might be your issue. Alternatively, remove your site from Webmaster Tools and re-add it again. I have had this fix the issue in the page. -Andy

  • Matthew, this is a great article with great data.  Kind of confirms what I was thinking but a great way to show it to the client. Very much appreciated.

  • Another tool is using the Auction Insights Report inside AdWords. However, it will not show total spend but will show you impression share, average position and etc. and help you in estimate competitor's spend.

  • Thanks for the response.  I think we are more in agreement than what you may realize. Just to be clear.  I was not advocating a back and forth on anything.  Those absolutely lead nowhere. My point is that a well crafted, positive response is usually worth it.  If someone is hell bent on being a jerk back, I think the unreasonable response from the customer further invalidates the negative review to begin with.  Showing that you are professional in dealing with complaints was my point and that professionalism usually wins through in making an impression on other customers.   My "taking it on the chin" is not about letting your company be dragged through mud per se, but showing that you are professional and sensible even when the customer is not. I would also agree that if you can also contact the customer and resolving the issue directly is always the way to go and we encourage this where possible.  Often that information can be made part of the response.  i.e. "Thank you for your review.  I enjoyed speaking with you on the phone and glad we could resolve this ..." If you would like some data on how users trust reviews more when they see negative reviews there is a study by Revoo here with the PDF of the Revoo data here.  You can also read some research done by Harris Interactive here. As with all these things "your mileage may vary".  To that point we did focus groups on the site I work on to see if we would see the same effect of the negative review qualifying the positive review and saw this happening with our demographic.  People were suspicious when it was all positive reviews, but when they would then see a business with a negative review and a well crafted response from the business, they would often respond very favorably to the information. Thanks!

  • This is a pretty late response to this question, but I wanted to provide an answer to people who may happen upon this search. Neustar Localeze is one of the four primary databases: the others are Acxiom, Factual, and Infogroup. Neustar Localeze is more expensive than, say, Moz Local, because you're getting something more meaningful: you're updating one of the central databases that thousands of other directories rely on to populate their listings. I would suggest that it's worth it.

  • On the free side, I get a lot of mileage out of combining TalkWalker and SocialMention alerts. Grab the RSS feeds for each, throw into a reader like Feedly to track in a single tool.

  • You could use something like URL Profiler along with an API key from here or your preferred tool.

  • We have a Q & A site and used this wordpress template. Don't believe they have login integration as you mentioned, but has the rest of the functionality you mentioned. PM if you want to take a look.
