Discuss the impact of growing social media presence and its relationship with other digital strategies.

 • It also depends on your sample size. If you can trigger the law of big numbers, you can get accurate information from your analytics, but if you have a small following, I recommend just using common sense. If you have a smaller reach, the assumptions you make from your reports might lead you astray. Is your audience on Thursday at 6pm low because they'll always be low on Thursdays at 6 or because last Thursday there was a Sacramento Kings game and many of your fans were attending. This week the Kings game is Wednesday and you might have moved all your Thursday activities to Wednesday if you interpreted the information wrong.

 • A well architected and engaging website, SEO and social media are all intertwined. Each one helps the other. How much depends on your objectives. Alexandra Tachalova's post demonstrates how social media can impact exposure, links, and engagement.

 • Hi Clayton as @Alick mentions this is spam, however, I don't recommend you to ignore it. You should take care of it otherwise, the spam will keep coming and coming with different names and forms. Veronica, there are no real backlinks, it doesn't have anything to do with Wordpress, and neither bots, at least for this type of spam. It all happens within Google Analytics, so you have to deal with it from there with filters. It may take a bit of time to set the filters, but it will save lots of headaches. You will find more details about this issue and step by step instructions on how to create these filters on this post. Who is behind the "Secret.ɢoogle.com ... Vote for Trump spam" and how to get rid of it Hope it helps, Carlos

 • Google might be able to read the link, but it's bots will realize soon enough that the link do not lead further to information/download page immediately on click.

 • I know this topic is old and forgotten, but I just came across this after researching Manta.com I must say that I kinda liked using Manta, but from the SEO perspective it didn't seem to deliver much, the problem with Manta was not using it, but cancelling it. You can't cancel it from the website, you need to request it After I requested it, I haven't gotten a response for some time After I followed up, the guy straight up lied to me that he responded already, even though there was nothing else in that thread After paying for few months, I got bunch of listings online on different profile sites, what my "Manta manager" told me is that if I cancel the subscription, and I quote: "we will no longer have control over the 60+ listings and they may end up reverting back" So in short, if you are willing to keep paying them (forever) it's a neat little tool, but if you feel like you may want to EVER cancel it, think twice, as you might end up getting an email that sounds like a blackmail.

 • Hi CleverPhd and Dmitri, You are both right, not only Facebook but all other servers are configured to ignore the extra slashes in the URL. This can be a problem for sure for crawlers, as they would treat each URL as different (if asked to index). Moreover, there are infinite number of URL you can produce with this example. As per URI (http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc2396.txt) standard, each slash has a significance. If you test the same phenomenon with Ealier browsers of IE, you will realise that they don't reproduce the same effect, the pages would be missing elements are they fail to find the location of the resources required for the page. The problem is with the how our servers are configured these days to ignore the extra slash and produce the same page as a result. There a quick fix on Apache with mod_rewrite code (you can add more lines to cover 3 or more slashes) which would produce 301 redirect to the right page
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^(.*)//(.*)$ RewriteRule . %1/%2 [R=301,L]
I hope this helps, Regards, Vijay

 • Hi Catherine, I am pretty sure the only way of doing this is by manually going through the video & adding he subtitles manually, it is the most accurate way as the automated process can make mistakes & leave a bad user experience. When logged into YouTube Navigate To >> Creator Studio > Video Manager >> Click the video you wish to edit >> Create subtitles or cc >> select your language. Run through the video & add the subtitles manually. https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2734796?hl=en Another step would be adding a link to the landing page where the videos are embedded in order for users to link to your site & service offering. Video sitemaps can also be added to your site to improve your visibility.

 • If it's the bounce rate and not the website or landing page visits, then it's your content. You need to rewrite or reword your content so it's more engaging and interesting. Structure it so the most important, interesting information is in the first paragraph, but leaving them wanting more. You should also be making sure that each one of your Facebook posts accurately describes what's on the page. If you feel like you have to jazz up the description on Facebook, chances are the copy itself won't keep anyone's attention.

 • Ciao Massimiliano! Thanks for the response here. We have been appending UTM's to our destination URL's, and those seem to account for the vast majority of sessions. However, most of the revenue is attributed to that untrackable source/medium combo.

 • Emily, If you have it created and it has followers, then I would suggest keeping it active. Once you publish an article or content on your site, or external sites, then share it on your Google+ page. It only takes a few minutes to post to it, and you may see a few visitors coming in from this source. If the content is compelling this can help the SEO, if people see it, share it, link to it, click to additional pages on the site, etc. If posting to Google+ is taking up too much time, I would suggest reviewing your social media campaigns. Hope this is helpful. Chris Adficient.com

 • Many sites end up pruning content when a site refresh is hit. If a post has no organic traffic, no traffic at all, didn't link to anything, didn't get linked to and has no social shares, there should be no reason to keep it around. If it has any of that in the last 12 months, I'd keep it up. This is one of those topics that you have to be careful with though. Don't go overboard and don't do it expecting a major rise in organic traffic. This is more of a housekeeping item. And as with most housekeeping items like fixing internal redirects, external redirects, etc, it can all combine to help with search performance. As Mike alluded to and I've done with clients in the past, I'd take the candidates for removal, pull a list of their titles and review to see if they can be updated. Use the topic again. It's a good way to supplement your content calendar.

 • It supports to see time and time again is that someone has added some of social profile page URLs. What happens here is that whatever sites you listed are the ONLY sites that will be shown. So if you added your Facebook page, YouTube Channel page and Twitter page then only links to those pages will show up. You must make sure that if you add any URLs to this section in GA, you also include your domain and any sub-domains you may want tracked as well.

 • Yes, Because you then get to control what content summary, image and even headline or keyword is used, not to mention you can customize them based on the url. This is helpful in general as it makes your brand more consistent throughout social media, consistency = trust.

 • Thanks for the clarification! I've looked at quite a few different Twitter follower tools and ran this by a couple of other people on the community team and I've pretty much come to conclusions #2 or #3 that you mentioned. Unfortunately, there's just not really a clear cut way to figure out what happened. Sorry I don't have a more definitive answer. You might want to consider tracking your account in Followerwonk going forward if you aren't already. It's a good way to see if you've lost a bunch of followers, who those followers were, and look at the date to see if you posted something in particular that could have led to a dramatic follower loss. Doesn't really help your current situation, but might help if anything strange happens in the future.

 • There are SEOs (like myself) who do SEO full time for a company then also do SEO as a part time role outside of working hours just to get a bit of an income boost. I have some customers who pay me as and when they want me to work and some who pay me £50 a month just to do some work for them. I would just be wary and ask to see some of the sites they have worked on. If you want to find these kinds of people, try sites like freelancer, seochat forums, elance. There's a load of seo forums and freelance sites that are more suited.
