  • Thanks Dan, My main concern is moving some of the links on the top menu of my website elsewhere and reducing the number of on-page links. My goal is basically to increase the link juice given to my more important pages, and have my other, less important pages, accessible from a deeper level within my website. I think this methodology follows the best practices - but, again, I am worried about any potential negative effects that can occur with the changes I want to implement.

  • In addition to EGOL on the news front, your news needs to be unique. Aggregate or scraped news won't last long in google. With respect to the site, are you dealing with duplicate content? After taking a large phrase from a new news item and wrapping it in quotes, the SERP page shows a large number of pages with different titles/urls. Without knowing how your site is structured it's a bit difficult to give specific advice, but run the SEOmoz custom crawler over your site and see how much duplicate content you have or are creating.

  • Titles definitely carry heavy weight with respect to ranking, where the weight of URLs is rather low with the exception of the domain name itself. To be clear, a page's title needs to be reinforced with on-page factors as well. Ideally the H1 tag of the page should be similar to your page's title, and the content should support the title.

  • The code should definitely go into the websites root directory's .htaccess, however .htaccess can be weird, a few days ago I ran into a similar issue with a client's website, and I was able to remedy the issue with a variation of the code. index Redirect RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /([^/]+/)index.(php|html|htm|asp)\ HTTP/ RewriteRule ^(([^/]+/))index.(php|html|htm|asp)$ http://yoursite.com/$1 [R=301,L] If you give me the URL for the site I will take a look at it and let you know what would be feasible.

  • Why you consider we should redirect to the homepage instead of the folder of the specific language? "301 redirect each existing site's home page to the new home page for the given language on the efutgol.com site" To clarify, if equipamentsfootball.com is your current French homepage, and www.efutgol.com/fr is the new French homepage, then I am suggesting you 301 from equipamentsfootball.com to the /fr page. In all instances you want to make this change as smooth and seamless as possible for users. This process also has the benefit of retaining the maximum amount of your current link value.

  • I have done this article and have taken on board what has been said but what i am doing is trying four different ways. so on this one i have got rid of the adverts at the top and sorted out the side but i have included in the body of the article google adsense. i will do another article and move any adverts to the bottom right. and then i can compare them all. here is the content. http://www.in2town.co.uk/Top-Celeb-News/Kerry-Katona-Homeless-Shock

  • I use FoxyCart on one of my WP sites. It has its flaws, but happy to discuss with you my experiences and lend a hand if that one looks like it meets any of your needs. There are some videos out there on it I know.

  • Ok, Here is the keyword  "diseño web vigo" in www.google.es Today it seems like we are in the number one. But it would be something new, we usually rank 3 or 4 for that keyword Thanks

  • I agree with your decision to get back into the hard business of earning links. IMO that is more important than your three questions. **1. Ditching links in the nav....  ** Is anybody clicking those links and processing to cart?  If nobody is doing that then I would ditch them - especially if those pages are not pulling organic SERP traffic. 2. Sub-cats.... I would try this and let sales be the deciding factor.  It might have more impact there than in SEO. 3. Anything else... This niche has become really really competitive since you launched this site.  Everybody is working hard to eat your lunch.  I agree with your analysis that linkbuilding is the urgent need.

  • If they are opening 3-10 physical locations then it is probably worth the extra funds to have a developer build an architecure to suit the site requirements rather than wordpress. It would be simple then to use 'state' from the landing page to scupltue the information presented on deeper pages to reflect the local version. So, if a user follow through to services page from the landing page they will see content from the main services page along with any local content required. It is also important to look at pagespeed in generic molded designs to ensure it can meet the content delivery demands across a country as the site's traffic increase as new branches open.

  • I haven't seen a case study although everyone has been showing this with Google Recipes. The one issue that has come up is that by making it easier to display info in the SERPs there is a possibility that people may never click-through. For example, if you are searching for movie times or the length of a music recording or the time of event you can get that information on the SERPs and never make it to the page. So GYB want us to neatly package our info for them but then they benefit because people search for something else rather than spending time on our sites.

  • Wordpress does have a number of ecommerce avenues to take.  If you are not selling products, but wish to style your site to look like an online store, you may wish to consider using  Wordpress  "Builder".  It offers a lot of functionality and customization options.........
