Multiple Domains pointing to one site?
Thanks for your advice all of you. Much appreciated. Nakul has the issue exactly. We have links for a specialist website which ranks well for a specific keyword. We want to put that content within the main site, and then redirect to that section. From a users point of view it make complete sense, but I was worried that it would be seen as spammy. Bryan, we are only thinking of resirecting existing websites. Not URLs that have never had any content. If no-one thinks it might be risky, I suppose we should just get on with it. Also take the advice on doing the 301's carefully too. Thanks.

If I write a article for a client and use Social Book Marking software, will this add value (or does the value depend on how ofen it gets shared)?
Hi David, Thanks for stopping by our site. Yes we are Drupal experts and have worked with Drupal for some time now. We are also one of the biggest Drupal web developers in SA. One of the reasons we choose to work with it is due to the fact that it's SEO friendly. What is your interest in Drupal?

Alan, Full disclosure, I am not a coder but have several that speak to me daily I believe this will help you out: It is around using the navigator object in JS for detection. What is the Best Practice for External Links?
Thanks for the feedback. In this case, we're talking about a birthday supplies site, and we are placing this content at the bottom of product pages. The content is generally helpful (themed party game suggestions, unique recipes, etc) if someone reads it. The external links are in the body of the content and may link to someone's helpful video or blog post on baking a themed birthday cake (for example), but I doubt that much traffic is leaving the site through them (obviously need to test). The point of these external links is to link to relevant sites, so that hopefully in turn, Google, etc sees that we are also relevant to that subject. The inspiration for this practice comes from post like these: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/external-linking-good-for-seo-whiteboard-friday It sounds like you are saying we shouldn't link out at all, but if we do, it really doesn't matter if the link is follow or no-follow. Is this correct?

What are you doing to convert blog readers to inquiries/leads?
Offer sweet deals that blog readers will think are exclusive to them - and put a time limit on them. "Today only, for our dedicated blog readers you can buy half a pair of pants for just $10"

Article submission - where can you submit articles for FREE???
If you have a picture of the link profile you are trying to build (usually based on competitor analysis) then that helps guide you. However my one guiding principal has always been to try not to be overly reliant on too few tactics. That probably means I've missed out on some easy wins over the years. However it also means that I have sites that have been sitting at the top of their industry results for over a decade, never leaving page 1. Mix it up. Find something that works - then find something else. No reason why articles can't be part of that, but if you are producing that content anyway then why not put some aside for guest posting? If you are researching guest posting opportunities why not see what else those sites are looking for?

My pro account is almost about to expire
Agreed with @First that you may need to change how your mobile content is being delivered. It can be tricky: Your best bet would be to rel-canonical that mobile page back to your non-mobile version - that combined with proper mobile delivery (by user agent) is the ideal solution. Cindy Krum has a good article on that combo approach here: http://www.mobilemoxie.com/2011/03/mobile-seo-the-canonical-tag/

Why does Magento Admin show 39,000 records (database only has 5000 products)
We don't have too many Magento people in here, and I myself don't have any experience with it. However, a couple of things to look at. First, can you do a spot check of those records and see if they are all product records, or if some of them are transaction records? Are some of them maybe expired products? Or options on products such as color or size?

Is it worth to change a blog from a subdomain to subfolder?
Thanks for the answers. For some thing Google treats a subdomain like a subfolder but for other things like a different domain, that's why I don't see it clear. Any experience doing it when the subdomain is a blog?

How often should content be updated
Depending on the topic, there was a update recently called the freshness update, where fresh content would rank higher, but this is only for certain topics, such as sports where the news is valuble while it was fresh but of little value once old. but for evergreen content it did not make any difference. You can conrtrol indexing though your sitemap.xml. you can tell it how often your content is updated, but bing have said if you dont tell the truth in your sitemap, your site will lose trust. My advice, for most content you do not need to update it, tell the truth in your sitemap, you dont need to get indexed often if you dont update often. If it is good content you should do well.

Content being copied from our product page hurting our site overall?
If you're the origin of the content, you should keep the credit (authority) on it as age of the content is a factor. That's why fresh content is good. When a manufacturer's new content comes out, we hustle to get the content up as quickly as possible so we reap as much benefit from "freshness" as possible. Having said that, I've seen some of our manufacturer sites well below us in the rankings largely because their SEO isn't so hot. Some manufacturer's/distributors don't put much emphasis on SEO for various reasons. If you're doing some good SEO, with your brand in your domain and originating the content, you should be in great shape.
